Rays are apparently close to trading for Nelson Cruz. No word on what they're giving up, and not confirmed yet. But looks like they're actually going to be buyers for once.

Did that actually happen? I think I've intentionally forgotten everything from 2020.

I don't blame Chapman for that last one since I still think Altuve had a buzzer under his shirt, but that's just my opinion 😆 As for Gray, he was just making excuses. They tried multiple approaches with him to see what worked, and it turns out nothing did. Does pitch mix make a guy constantly hang sliders, or miss his location by a foot? He was just another Javier Vazquez.

Gallegos - Wasn't even a notable prospect at the time he was with the Yankees. He had good stuff but no command. Who knows if he even develops if he stayed with the Yankees. Sonny Gray - Unfortunately some guys just can't pitch in NY. We've seen it with numerous pitchers regardless of who the manager or pitching coach is. Kaprelian - If Gray wasn't a headcase this could've been a good trade. Kaep looked done up until this season as he's never been healthy, and the other two prospects (Fowler and Mateo) are non-factors Ottavino - This was essentially the equivalent of letting a free agent walk. He looks good so far but let's see how he finishes the season, and if Boston makes the playoffs good luck with him on the mound Whitlock - This one hurts, but Boston took a flyer on a guy who was injured and nobody had seen pitch in awhile, and he's worked out. Would like this one back. Good farm systems produce good prospects, and you can't always hang onto every one. Boston doesn't seem to lose out on a lot of prospects, but then again they haven't produced many good players over the past decade (at least on the pitching side). And if you're dinging BC for trading good pitchers, then he should also get credit for trading for Green/Cessa, picking up Loaisiga/Luetge off the street, and signing Chapman/Britton/Cole. No GM has an unblemished track record.

Winning is fun, but we'll see how long the backups can keep this up. Saw a stat today that the Yankees have used 12 different outfielders so far this season: Aaron Judge Aaron Hicks Brett Gardner Clint Frazier Miguel Andujar Ryan Lamarre Tyler Wade Hoy Jun Park Estevan Florial Trey Amburgey Greg Allen Tim Locastro And yet Stanton isn't one of them. They'd bring in their 12th OFer before putting Stanton in the field. That's ridiculous.

I think the biggest concern in NYC right now is the increase in violent crimes. Like any major city there's always going to be crime, especially in areas with low income and government housing. That increase is certainly affecting those areas but is also spilling into other neighborhoods and is happening at all times of the day. I think you'd have to be either blind or willfully ignorant to say there isn't a problem. People are being pushed onto the subway, robbed and beaten, and shot at in broad daylight on a daily basis. Three weeks ago I went to the new Krispy Kreme near midtown and somebody got shot one block away. It was like 4pm.

DeBlasio actually started a program where the city would give rewards for people to show up to their court dates for various degrees of criminal charges, and one of the prizes was baseball tickets. So you may be right.

So if you can still get COVID even if you have the vaccine, then that means you can also spread it even though you're vaccinated. If you're vaccinated then it probably won't have much of an effect on you if someone spreads it to you, but if you spread it to non-vaccinated people then they can get sick. So where does this leave us? Who TF knows.

Boone knows he's coaching for his job at this point. I'm sure we'll see plenty of other moves that seem desperate, especially when they play Boston.

Possibly, but I don't think they should. They're about .500 now and are still only 3 losses away from the 2nd wild card spot. Winning in the playoffs a lot of times is just about being hot at the right time, so if they have a chance to make it I'd like to see them try.

A sweep would've been nice but taking 2 out of 3 on the road is fine. If they can keep winning series then they can get back into it, but the problem has been that they've followed every long winning streak with an equally long losing streak. The Yanks have 8 games against Boston, 3 against Tampa, and 3 against Houston coming up. To me this is their last chance to show that they can contend this season and maybe convince Cashman to buy at the deadline. I don't think going .500 in these series will be good enough, and if they flop completely then they may even sell at the deadline.

Not sure how that Bauer thing will play out. It started out as consensual and they were both allegedly into choking/bondage/etc., but she alleged that he went too far in the bedroom.

Not sure if it's spider tack related since his spin rates are still the same. Maybe he was using something else for grip like sunscreen though. In either case, Chapman has had a rough patch like this almost every season where we think he's done and then he returns to form. I'd expect the same. Just sucks when it's happening.

Pitiful series. At least the first two games were close, but yesterday was embarrassing. If this happened in August I might say the Yanks are toast, but still a lot of baseball to be played. Can the team turn it around? They keep giving us a glimpse of what they could be, and then they fall flat on their faces when they have a chance to get close in the division. I'll still be watching, but every passing week I find myself a little more interested in their farm and a little less interested in the actual MLB team.

These past two games remind me of the Yankees team earlier in the season. You'll lose more games than you'll win scoring 3 and 2 runs. They missed their chance to knock around Perez on Friday, then Boston's bullpen held them down the rest of the game. Eovaldi was good yesterday but not unhittable, the Yanks just couldn't string hits together (if only we could've gotten like 3 consecutive infield hits!).
