  1. It's incredible what has transpired in April. Looks like we have found solid outfield trio in Yoshida, Duran and Verdugo. And I'm not dismissing the return of Duval at some point. And Wong is destined to be our catcher for a long time. At 24 I'm not sure if Valdez doesn't have abetter bat to ball skills than Story. Why not play Story at short in the future? I still see Casas as out future 1B. Go get a top of the line starting pitcher and we can start thinking about the 5th ring.
  2. Boring. Get a new topic line. Clutch. What is it? Is it real? Characteristics of clutch . Learned behavior or born with it? Is it generational?
  3. Starters Sale Kluber Bello Pivetta Paxton Houck Whitlock Winckowski and Kutter long relievers Martin Schriber Bernardino Bleier one inning guys Jansen the closer Not too bad especially if we can add a #1 starter in Juy
  4. Love to see him in the bigs July 2024
  5. Nice to have multiple inning guys out of the pen. In theory we can add Whitlock and Houck to that mix.......Winckowski, Kutter, Houck, Whitlock Sale, Pivetta, Kluber, Paxton and Bello starting? (not advocating this)
  6. Kutter had not given up a walk in over 20 innings. Since his first outing. OUTSTANDING.
  7. Couple of more runs we can bring in Ort.
  8. Baltimore down 0-6 vs KC in the 8th.
  9. Cleveland up 3-2 on the Yankees. Bottom of 9th.
  10. good contact by Casas.....6-9 are all swinging.
  11. Here's some entertainment/fantasy during pitching change Update on Core Group Going forward, team control including 2023 C. Wong, 6 yrs: McGuire, 3 yrs 1B Casas, 6 yrs 2B Valdez, 7 yrs 3B Devers, 11 yrs SS Story, 6 yrs LF Yoshida, 5 yrs CF Duran, 6 yrs RF Verdugo, 2 yrs DH Dalbec, 4 yrs SP Bello, 6 yrs SP Whitlock, 6yrs SP Houck, 5 yrs SP Kutter, 6 yrs SP Winckowski, 6 yrs RP Schreiber, 4 yrs RP Bernadino, 7 yrs Sign two aces and we're there!!!! If we get into the playoffs, all of us owe an apology to Bloom.
  12. Pivetta did not pitch like the #5 starter against offensive Jays. Good for him.
  13. Valdez is fearless at the plate..... He is going to be one or two days shy of garnering full year's service. Needs 172 days. he'll have 170 or 171 days. We'll have him for 7 years. Good return on Vaz.

  15. Moon, you'll love this.....it looks like Valdez will accumulate either 170 or 171 days of major league service this year. (you need 172 days for one year of service). So if he sticks, we'll have almost 7 years of Valdez. (unless of course he finishes top 3 in the Rookie of the Year voting) What do you know, Bloom was thinking when he brought up Valdez on April 25th.
  16. I can't ever remember a time when so many secondary players are all hot at the same time. Duran Wong Valdez and now Arroyo. That is on top of Verdugo and Yoshida. Was it last year this time we were complaining that we only had 3productive hitters? Devers Xander and JD?
  17. Diekman owns a 7.94 ERA (10 earned runs in 11 ⅓ innings) over 13 appearances for Chicago this season. Last March, the veteran lefty signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the Red Sox that included a team option for 2024 but only lasted four months in Boston before the club traded him to the White Sox for catcher Reese McGuire at the trade deadline. That move has paid off for the Red Sox, as McGuire has become one of the club’s primary catchers while hitting a .333 with an .839 OPS in 54 games with the club. Diekman had a 7.04 ERA in 39 games with Chicago. Looks like Bloom dodged a bullet. Diekman cut by the White Sox.
  18. Is this the board that harped on Devers having to move to 1B because he was God awful at 3B? I also read there is no way Verdugo can play right field. Well Duran came back and his defense is improving. I am as guilty as anyone else......this is the board famous for 'small sample size'. Whitlock's starting career is inside the small sample size model. He wants to start. Give him chance. I think it's great that Houck is starting. This board complains about starting pitching but is quick to give up on a pitential starter. You rather be safe and bet on the ultimate mediocre starter Pivetta. Yeah that is the way to win the world series.
  19. It's way too early to give up on Whitlock as a starter. You guys are nuts. Talk about lack of conviction.
  20. I'm staying positive about Paxton. We might as well find out about him sooner rather than later. I don't want to be dismissive. We need all the help we can get. Look at Duran. Now look at Valdez. We can be negative about his defense but he has the ability to put the bat on the ball.....something Casas is having trouble with. Cora obviously loves this kid. He is only 24 years old. He gives us options.
  21. To have 28th best starting ERA with our record is amazing.
  22. Other than me bitching about couple of our starters, I like this team. Was it last year that we were all bitching about only having 3 or 4 good hitters?
