His contract should be evaluated when his playing career is over...UNLESS San Diego gets to the world series or wins it. Otherwise he's just another superstar paid for his services but did not deliver what San Diego is clamoring for.

The defense for Kluber seems to be, "He can do better. Hitters right now aren't being tricked well. Kluber can improve on his chicanery."

Each one of them have shown potential as a starter. Whitlock (6 years of team control) Kutter (6 yrs) Bello (6 yrs) Winckowski (6 yrs) Houck (5 yrs) One can dream..... I'm beginning to think Duran should be in the conversation of our 'core group'. He looks like a different player at the plate.

I prefer 2 year $70M deals than bunch of 8-10M deals for bad starters. Talk about waste of money. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Our elite relievers seem to do well with either catcher. Maybe the problem is strictly with the starters.

Well Paxton and Kluber are taking themselves out of rotation. I am ok with Sale Whitlock Pivetta Houck and Bello.

I'm going to digress but stay on the movie theme. I love the movie The Trouble with the Curve. I love the scene when the owner watches his first round draft pick flails at the 'kid's' curveball. He says to the general manager after another swing and miss on a curveball, "Nobody saw this?" My thoughts every time Yoshida tops another softer grounder. None of the Sox scout analysists saw this?

Well thought out. But consider this. Is it possible that baseball made a mistake by placing a team in Tampa, Florida? PERIOD. You can put the Angels in Tampa and I bet you that they wouldn't draw many more fans. (Unless there's a huge Japanese population there). So it's not only not about lack of star power. It's the lack of Tampa baseball fanbase. Half of their fans come see the Yankees or the Red Sox when those teams are in town. The team simply needs move to another city.

We can be bad against bad teams so opposition record matters not. I don't know how we ended up last year but we seem to play the Yankees pretty well.
