  1. Any chance we can move past the fact that Arroyo has been injury prone as a Sox for past two year? He is coming into his prime. This will be his age 28 season. There's no reason to think he can't play 150 games. Is he out of shape? Do you expect him to get hurt every year until he retires? He can be a full time regular. To go into each season that a position player can't play 150 games is little silly. Do you think front office thinks well Arroyo is only good for 75 games even before he is hurt?
  2. Interesting that Cora thinks our trio at CF/2B/SS will provide more power. No wonder Xander wasn't extended. Let me have it! I am with Moon. We will be better.
  3. Sox made an offer that Devers couldn't refuse. Tax hit is only $29M. No second guessing now. We will alway have the Fill Ins on short term deal. I viewed Bloom's job to be developing inhouse talen. I can go buy players. I am wwilling to wait.
  4. For that Yankee fan I formerly respected, only number that is meaningful is 4-1 as we enter 2023 season.
  5. SoxProsepects has following players arriving to Fenway during 2023. #4 Rafaela (CF/SS) 22 #6 Mata (SP) 23 #8 Walter (SP) 26 #13 Murphy (SP) 24 #17 Valedz (2B) 24 #23 German (RP) 25 #1 Mayer is projected to arrive late 2024.
  6. The clock has started ticking for Devers led 'the core group' in pursuit of next Championship. Unless Casas blows up like Fred Lynn/Jim Rice rookie year, Sale returns to his old self (starts 30+ games), Bello improves on his September showing, Whitlock takes it up a notch proving he was not 100% healthy last year and is a legitimate starter, Yoshida wins the Rookie of the Year award and Devers has his best season to date, we have no shot at getting into the playoffs as of today. I want to see Mata and Rafaela sooner later than later. This bullpen is basically on a two year rental. We need reinforcements.
  7. Probably, 10th in CB Tax Payroll right now. We should be in the top 5.
  8. And we have Devers covered for next year with Barnes ($9.375M) and Paxton's ($4,000) expiring contracts. (Going from $17.5M to $29.1M) Right now, Sox are 10th in the majors for projected CB tax payroll at $205M. That maybe the lowest we've been in awhile.
  9. I waited out Pedey's dead contract. Then Price. We wait patiently on Sale. Now another dead money of $23M. And we wonder why JH is skeptical.
  10. I want to see Mata and Rafaela aa soon as the first year vesting in majors is behind them.
  11. We want build a core group and we want to trade one of the center pieces? Not happening. One of our top prospects with 6 years of team control.
  12. Good to know. So we can assume it may not br relevant as I assumed. But the overall impact of becoming a first time offender will cost us financially. But that may not mean as much if u go consistently over the limit by few dollars.
  13. I support Bloom but I have been critical of the fact that Sox went over the tax line by mere $5M. Our 73rd and 74th picks turned into 131st and 132nd picks.
  14. Mata and Rafaela to be called up in 23.
  15. We need for Sale, Story and Yoshida to earn their pay. I anxiously wait for
  16. Titles won 2000's 2 2010's 2 We still have 8 years to win 2 in 2020's. And we will have Devers for 8 years along wit Bello, Whitlock and Casas for 6 at the least.
  17. Great News. Now Bloom can continue to focus on building a core group to go pursue our 5th chapionship in 20 years. This came on the heels of locking up Arb #3 for Devers so that Sox can reset in 2023. Now go find a SS.
  18. Absolutely no interest in trading Casas. 6 years of team control. Rafaela is major league ready defensively. Go buy a shortstop. We still have money left.
  19. We have two years to develop additional pitching depth so that we can say goodbyes to Sales (34) $25.6M, Jansen (35) $16.0M and Martin (37) $7.5M. This is Barnes (33) $9.375M last year, another overpaid contract (albeit gamble taken and gamble lost when extended). It would help if Bello and Whitlock become fixtures as starters.
  20. Very good! (also Sox was going to get below the tax line after going over in 2018 and 2019)
  21. Maybe we had money to sign Betts....we bet on the wrong horse. Mookie was already making $20M in 2019. We had already signed Eovaldi starting in 2019 for $17M for 4 years. Porcello's contract for $20M was coming off the books after 2019. Sale was in his last year of 2 year option years he had signed with the White Sox. How things would have been different had we valued Betts over Sale, or maybe wait to sign Sale after he became FA. (obviously he got hurt that year AFTER signing a new deal during the spring training) It's about choices....too late.
  22. 2018 Devers, YR1 $564,000 Played in 121 games, OPS .731 OPS+ 94 2019 Devers, YR2 $614,000 Played in 156 games, OPS .916 OPS+ 132 This is where we missed our opportunity. We let Moncada go in Chris Sale trade in part DD recognized Devers as superior talent even though the Sox paid a "fee" ($35M?) for the previledge of signing Moncada. 2020 Devers, YR3 $692,000...... I think you have to roll the dice after YR 2.......I believe that's where we're headed. If you give me 3-1 odds on Sox not extending, I'll take the bet (that it won't happen, I'll pay $300 to win $100)
  23. Thanks for that!!!!
  24. Rafaela was named Defensive Player of the Year for the Sox farm system the last two years. Apparently no one will ever surpass Betts defensively according to a Yankee fan.
