  1. Ever think maybe the Cubs would be 5 games up on best teams if they did something about their deficiency? I would do something about a player who is 0-28 with runners in scoring position. And if you think that has nothing do with our record is simply asinine. Good luck when we finish 1 game out of the playoffs. Aren't we the team of superior analytics? Hell I'm just a little high school coach. I break down every minute of game films. Looking for that 2% edge. I have a staff of 5 and the Sox won't even bother to look for alternatives? "Oh Well".... I bet the Rays don't take that casual attitude. $5M means everything to them. We piss that away like its nothing.
  2. How many more games could we have won just with couple of hits with runners in scoring position? To simply dismiss him as a oh well he's just a back up catcher is awful. You would never manage anything for me. You're only good as your 26th man. How come many of us have the time to think about Wong but no one in the Sox organization don't as you are implying? That makes no sense.
  3. According to Cora, he is going to get more playing time. I read that to mean batting against left handers. Cream rises to the top.
  4. My main point was relaying what Papelbon said (I heard him). His story does not jive with the 'entirety' of events.
  5. I think it was Papelbon on NESN that said when Kennedy and Breslow got together with the players on the road after the trade, to talk about Devers, the team supposedly said "we don't need any explanation, let's move on". Sounds like not one player defended Devers. Not to say they don't respect his production but sounds to me like they were over him for not doing what the management thought was best for the team at that moment.
  6. Sorry, hopefully everyone understood what I was trying to say.
  7. We love where we are right now but I think we need to look back and see if we did everything right coming out of Spring Break. Looking back, Mayer should have been the 2B coming out of Spring Break. Sure Campbell was the Rookie of the Month in April. But there's no comparison as it turns out on their defensive abilities in the infield. Plus , Mayer also had a good offensive spring break. Because of platooning and/or faltering in Campbell, we had to let Hamilton play way too may games at second base and he struggled defending that position. We actually wasted Mayer's talent for almost two months, arriving on 5/26. We can all gloss it over but no one her can convince me that Mayer should not have broken camp out of spring training. "seeing good baseball" if you are being honest has coincided with Mayer playing the infield.
  8. Are you serious? Look at the stats. He was our ACE 1st half and most of last season. He was NOT hurt when when he was pitching. Kutter was hurt at the start of the season. You and I really don't have much to talk about on Houck issue.....damn glad we didn't extend them last year.
  9. I hate to be the second guesser after the fact but Eovaldi into his second year has really performed well for the Rangers. $75M for 3 years was little steep for the Sox. Again, Tanner Houck really put us in a bad place.
  10. My Worthless Stat-Updated/team wins with a starter Crochet 20 14 - 6 Buehler 16 9 - 7 Bello 15 8 - 7 Giolito 13 8 - 5 Dobbins 11 8 - 3 47 - 28 T Houck 9 2 - 7 Fitts 8 2 - 6 Newcomb 5 2 - 3 Bernardino 1 0 - 1 - 98 53 - 45
  11. We need a replacement for Buehler.. Wished Houck would come around.
  12. Wong now 0-27 with runner(s) in scoring position. Maybe he should just shut his eyes and swing. Become a left handed hitter. Do something.
  13. With our platooning, feels like we have more fire power at disposal, especially in latter innings. We can bring in left or right handed bats based on pitching matchup.
  14. Well they are wrong....This is his second year, he's credited with 1 year 41 days coming into 2025. His arbitration years are 2027-2028-2029. He then becomes a FA. Cot's is more reliable on contract matters.
  15. Kudos to Breslow for his vision. We are one top of the line starter from having a team that can compete for playoffs for next 6-7 years or through 2031 when Crochet's contract ends. That's the length of extension for Rafaela. Bello has a club option for 2030. Anthony and Mayer are team controlled through 2031. Narvaez is under team control through 2030. Abreu is under team control through 2028. Kristian Campbell is under team control through 2032 plus two option years. These are exciting times. Best thing Bres did was to get rid of Devers.
  16. Moon oh anyone. Who needs to be protected on our 40 man roster? I am guessing its getting crowded.
  17. He has struggled a bit with his pitch count recently. 7/6 98 pitches, 5 IP, 9H/2BB, 2 runs 6/30 89 pitches, 6 IP, 8H/1BB, 5 runs
  18. It adds to the excitement with so many young guys, Narvaez, Anthony, Rafaela, Abreu and Mayer anchored by veterans Bregman, Story, Yoshida, Gonzalez, Refsnyder and Duran. Exciting times...Positional players are set. Now go get us more quality pitchers.
  19. It would be great for Sox if Houck could provide some solid innings.....perhaps we're asking too much. We do have Fitts still but if Dobbins is out any length of time we need a backup plan for Buehler. I know that everyone would disagree but the only way to keep all of OF is maybe to move Anthony to 1B next year. Narvaez, Anthony, Mayer, Story, Bregman, Duran, Rafaela, Abreu and Yoshida with a new catcher, Gonzalez, Refsnyder and another utility bat coming off the bench. Mayer and Anthony needs to play every day. That's a solid starting 9. Maybe we add another right handed bat, someone like Garcia. I like the flexibility of this team. WE NEED ANOTHER STARTER AND A SET UP GUY IN THE BULLPEN.
  20. 30-20 at home....not sure when we were 10 games over .500
  21. I keep hearing its nit on top of the list. How hard is it to get a backup catcher?
  22. Ranking relief pitchers 1 Chapman (L) 2 Slaten (R) 3 Alcala (R) 4 Whitlock (R) 5 Weissert (R) 6 Bernardino (L) 7 Wilson (L) 8 Murphy (L) 9 Hicks (R) 10 Guerrero (R) 12 Kelly (R) 13 Hendriks (R-Injured) To be determined, Tanner Houck
