  1. Our starting pitching has been shaky at the top, #2 Houck and #3 Buehler. Throw in Newcomb at #5.
  2. Up 5-0, you just can't walk the leadoff #8 hitter. Saved by Bregman's double play.
  3. Not sure how relevant it is but Red Sox lead the AL pitchers in least pitches thrown per inning. We're second in the majors behind the Cardinals. It's better than being dead last.
  4. I heard the NESN guy say he needs two days of rest when he pitches 2 IP. So NO. He pitched 2 innings on 3/27, 3/31 and 4/3. Not every other day.
  5. Every once in a while, you do wonder, "hey, what the hell are you thinkin?"
  6. How about just sending back Grissom? He got moved off short because they had a good ss? That is what I remembered.
  7. Story just makes me nervous every time he steals second base. I actually wince, hoping he doesn't do something to his ankle. And I am not criticizing him when he hustles but to me it boarders on being out of control. Injury just waiting to happen.
  8. Braves are 0-6. There's THAT!
  9. His girl friend is doing back flips....it's lot of money for 99% of the population.
  10. Tom Carroll, WEEI “While he hasn’t been perfect at second base, Campbell’s positional versatility is an added bonus to what the 22-year-old has shown to be capable of at the plate in an extremely small sample size. He’s played four games at second and one in left, making him that much more valuable to the big league club moving forward.” Wow, he's only played 4 games and already critiquing his defense at 2B?
  11. Not to nitpick, I said position players. But this is a good list Moon.
  12. Sooooo, we not have a team control as follows CC Wong (4) Narvaez (6) 1B Casas (4) 2B Campbell (10) SS Story (3+1) Mayer (6+) 3B Bregman (1+1+1) LF Duran (4) CF Rafaela (7) RF Abreu (5) OF Anthony (6+) DH Devers (9) Not shabby Who comes up after Mayer and Anthony? Looking at the Soxprospects list, I don't see a positional player scheduled to come up anytime soon. I see several pitchers on the list though.
  13. It's too early to give up on a Gold Glove centerfielder.
  14. It's 8 years, starting 2025. So he'll be here at least through season 2032. Then the Sox has two options years at $19M and $21M. I think the options will be a no brainer. Those numbers look pretty small based on his potential. Great get by the Sox.
  15. I was looking at Cot's. It just astounds me that LA luxury tax payroll sits at $403M and the Yankees at $306M. We're at $240M. Geez, what can we buy for another $160M?
  16. Yeah, I think it's a pretty big deal. So if the injury is timed just right, then we essentially get two years of service for one missed year, the second year at a discount. So if he has not season injury in 2029, misses April, May, June and July, and comes back to pitch in the world series, he'll have to pitch 2030-2032? Not that I'm hoping for it.
  17. I'll buy that! I really don't have any source.
  18. Very, very cool. Unfortunately I live in Indianapolis suburb. Our senior skip day was going to the Indianapolis 500 time trials. Back then, the entire month was devoted to the 500. Two weeks of time trials.
  19. I am extremely happy with this version of JH. I'm also not 100% sure if Betts wanted to be in Boston.
  20. Looks like the magic date for Mayer and Anthony to come up is April 11, the start of the weekend series at White Sox. Essentially we get 7 years. It's worth the wait.
  21. "With Devers struggling so much, you may not have noticed that Trevor Story has also been unable to do anything with the bat so far this season. He’s currently 2-15 with 6 strikeouts. He also says his recently injured shoulder is fine, and that the issue is that he’s chasing too many bad pitches." Yeah, quit talking about it and fix it........he can take a seat next to Yoshida. Come on up, Mr. Mayer.
  22. It's incredible to think JH never factored in the present value of future layouts for Betts. It sure looks affordable. Of course to make things worse, we hand out $18M to Yoshida and $22M to Story like we have a money tree at Fenway.
  23. As it turns out, the best thing trading away Xander was receiving a 4th round compensatory pick that yielded one Kristian Campbell. To think we have Kristian for 6 years of team control. Padres are stuck with 9 years at $25M per year. That one doesn't hurt as much as Betts getting away.
