  1. No facts....just seems like he throws too many pitches in the first inning. But in fairness, he just throws to many 3 ball counts, early and often.
  2. Maybe it's a stupid idea but of all the starters, Bello needs to follow "an opener". He just needs not to pitch the first inning.
  3. It's time to play the 'ultimate' lineup we're trying to get to. Campbell, Anthony, Mayer and Rafaela in the lineup. It appears we found a catcher better than Wong as a bonus. Sit down Story. Remaining lineup should be Devers, Bregman, Abreu and Duran. Give Refsnyder as much bats as possible in the outfield. You can sit/rest three left handed outfielders. You have to give up something to get every rookie in the line up. This should be the core group right now. A starting point. Sorry, we all knew we wasted money on Yoshida and Story. Both moves were to cover up losing Betts and not wanting to retain Xander.
  4. It's time to play our 3 rookies plus Rafaela. Screw Story. He is becoming another Yoshida.
  5. I am frustrated that a team with payroll of !240 M can not fill 1N. The easiest poaitipm in majoors.
  6. Cora says Walker Buhler may be ready to start next Tuesday.
  7. The Red Sox promoted veteran reliever Nick Burdi from Triple-A Worcester before their game against the Braves on Friday. The 32-year-old righty, who pitched for the Yankees last year, posted a 0.54 ERA (16 ⅔ innings, one run) in 13 outings for the WooSox to begin this season. He allowed just nine hits and five walks while striking out 25. More like it.....Urgency Urgency...make the team better. Look under every rock.
  8. 2024 81-81 #3 13 games back 2023 78-84 #5 23 games back 2022 78-84 #5 21 games back 2021 92-70 #2 8 games back (lost in ALCS) We can not take a step back. It's a bottom line game. Fire him if we're not in the playoffs. He's had 4 seasons now.
  9. Please, no Whitlock today. He needs to come in on low leverage situation.
  10. Toughest thing in life is to know when someone peaks. Rarely do athletes stay at top. The can't miss guys such as Betts. I don't believe Duran was such a player. Statistically speaking, chances are better to trade a high prospect for an established major league. I love having Mayer/Anthony. But we are not going to use them, why keep them locked away in minors. What's going to change next year? Story will be here. All 3 OF will be here.
  11. White describing current state of affair at Fenway, more and more talking heads, writers and former players are using the phrase "no sense of urgency". Cora simply says we have to 'execute better'. He's the highest paid manager and that's all he has? No freakin' sh*t, Einstein. Injured starting pitchers will return soon. Not sure what to do with the bullpen. But there has to be a better option with position players. If you are not going to use Mayer and Anthony, freakin' trade them and get something in value that will help the team. This team. This year. I am so over Cora. I hope Brez finds HIS own guy. Rarely do players consistently outperform their norm. If Devers has a good year. I seriously consider trading him. Exhibit 1 - Duran. It sure would have open up a space for Anthony.
  12. It's games like these where we seem to beat expectations Pedro says we need to improve our defense before anything else. Well our 1B D sucks. We need a longer term solution at 1B. That needs to be fixed before we do anything else. July trade deadlines are too far off.
  13. Me thinks it's not about Dobbins. Our pen will lose it again.
  14. Slaten, 15 pitches, 12 strikes, 3 K's Whitlock, 32 pitches, 18 strikes, 3 K's but 1 BB and 1 HBP Just throw damn strikes Whit.... He has blown 4 save opportunities out of his last 5 appearances.
  15. Whitlock and Houck are best friends. Keep them together. Send them down. Everyone thought Whitlock would be a star in relief. All he had to do was not start. Well he sucks. He's very hittable. Period.
  16. I actually have Giolito ahead of Bello. I get it that Giolito got lit up in his 2nd outing. But he throws strikes. He made an adjustment between his second and third starts. Despite being lit up, Giolito's WHIP is lower than Bello's. 67% vs 45% strike ratio. I trust Giolito little more than Bello.
  17. Go Money Ball......ask for free sodas for the clubhouse.
  18. So Giolito was able to come up with a new pitch in 4 days in between starts but Houck can't figure out what the hell the problem is in 9 starts? He better skip a turn or something. Doing the same thing over and over when it's not working is not the solution.
  19. Toro, now 2-15....come on guys. Do something. we now have slumping Duran, Story, Wong, Toro, Campbell......ugly. All in the starting lineup. Wong is 6-38 this year, all singles.
  20. Something positive? We did not extend Casas and Houck. Houck maybe a trade candidate someone in need of a healthy body in July.
  21. Jobe has 2 decent outings out of 6.....it's been a race to the bottom for Jobe and Houck. He was rocked for 8 hits, 6 runs in 3 2/3 innings vs Colorado in his last outing.
  22. Tigers have moved up two spots in MLB power ranking, going from #5 to #3, despite losing their last two. But they are 7-3 in their last 10 games. Their team ERA is right behind the Royals (#1) in AL. Our ERA in May is outstanding, 2.47 compared to Tigers' 3.60.
