  1. Pedey forgot to eat his Wheaties..
  2. better get some runs...we're slwwp walking
  3. he's got no hitter going
  4. Betts clearly is the best of B boys...he doesn't look to get down much....you can see negative body language from Xander and Bradley
  5. good start....less than 10 pitches
  6. We should be in first place simply by winning few more times when Price starts....it's as simple as that...3 game differential puts us in 1st place. I don't think 14-9 is too much to ask from a $210M man.
  7. I'm not sure where Leon's bat will eventually bottom out to be but he looks very comfortable at the plate. Catching position to me is not a problem right now when Leon starts. Need a better back up though. I
  8. I think he was hurting.....I'm laughing a little bit. He's a gamer but if it hurts too much, even Pedey needs to come out of the lineup. We still have several games to play. Baseball is a 10K race. Can't run a 5 minute pace all the way to the end.
  9. 99% of the posters here would never be disrespectful to any of the Sox players. Sometimes internet posters, myself included, speak about the players as though they are commodities, sold, traded and discarded. But they have families and I have no doubt they are upstanding people. My guess is that this was very difficult for John Farrell. He's closest to the player other than Layne's teammates. I think everyone here would wish him well.
  10. I guess we can hope that our top 5 pitchers will get better...we may see a slide from Porcello and Wright. We'll probably see improved Price and E Rod simply from won lost %. Pomeranz has been very disappointing simply because of 20 pitch innings and failure to locate. I was really looking forward to watching him but it's becoming a Dice K experience for me and he's only pitched 4 times. Do you think we should take a step backward (trade away some high prospects and young players) and acquire Chris Sales? With dearth of quality starting pitchers, will the Sox be just good enough to stay on the playoff fringe and frustrate us all again? I should had my teeth cleaned than to watch Sox get shutout today. And Ziegler is not coming back. I'm not blaming DD but other than Ziegler, every move has backfired.....traded players are not living up to their previous hype.
  11. Sooner we learn not to 'settle', sooner we will have championship caliber team. We need a big bat next year out of DH. Not a .275 hitter with 15 HR. Sandy Leon saved Sox management at the catcher's position. Theo at least understands that building a team includes having kids/veterans arrive at the same time. Waiting 3 more years for Moncada's arrival is the most asinine thing I've heard of...Management has already said he's almost major league ready. Apparently everyone here should apply for the job with the Sox. You seem to have better handle on the players.
  12. Ortiz is now 6-44, Bradley 6-33, Xander 4-25......our offense is not great...our averages were built on strength of crazy April stat...
  13. Sandy Leon's bat was huge last night. If I'm a pitcher, I want my catcher to have at least a fighting chance to get on base. Hanigan has become a rally killer. Every bat should count 1-9. Why settle?
  14. Brentz 4-27.....good thing we have platooning going on. Benintendi I gusess can't .150
  15. Hanigan is playing hurt and below average catcher at best. Time to get rid of him. April .185 May .171 June .250 (2-8) July .091 Aug .000 (0-3) YTD .158 On what planet is that a good stat?
  16. There's no point in holding him back...he's a better defender than Bryce. He runs the bases better. Bryce is up there hacking away. Yes sometimes ball does find the bat. John Farrell reminds me of a basketball coach that yanks out a guy that just hit 3 straight 3 pointers.
  17. SEATTLE — Those looking for clarity from Drew Pomeranz on Thursday night were likely disappointed. In his fourth start for Red Sox, Pomeranz remains a bit of a mystery. A cursory glance at the box score from Boston's 3-2 win over Seattle Thursday tells you two runs on four hits over six innings — a line the Sox will take nine times out of 10. But if Pomeranz pitched better than his stats his last time out in Anaheim, he was on the other side of that on Thursday. Pomeranz had command issues from the get-go, as shown by the leadoff walk he issued to Guillermo Heredia in the first. He had problems locating his curveball early and his fastball later. Pomeranz walked six Mariners, albeit the last of them intentional. Three came in the fourth inning, which he managed to escape unscathed with a bases-loaded groundout from Leonys Martin. "He was erratic, obviously, with the number of walks issued," manager John Farrell said. "When he was in the strike zone, it was very good stuff. The one thing he didn't do, particularly to guys in the middle of the order, he didn't give in in certain counts." "I don't mind walking guys as long as I don't give up runs," said Pomeranz. "I was just missing a little bit. They were pretty patient on some of my curveballs." The one inning the Mariners got to him was the fifth. Shawn O'Malley pounced on a first-pitch changeup — the second and final change Pomeranz threw Thursday, and the one pitch he said he regretted — for a leadoff home run. Heredia followed with Seattle's second bunt single of the night, and he scored the tying run on Dae-ho Lee's two-out sinking line drive to right. Pomeranz was inefficient for most of the night, requiring at least 18 pitches in four of his six innings. In his four starts with the Sox, the lefty is averaging close to 18 pitches per inning and nearly four pitches per plate appearance. He did finish the evening strong, recording his first 1-2-3 inning of the game in the sixth. I supported the trade but he's been a disappointment....another freaking Clay Buchholtz. I don't mind walking guys as long as they don't score? Is he that stupid? At some point they will score. Does he really think he's so different from 6000 major league pitchers that's ever pitched? He's lucky to go 6 innings, wearing out our bullpen. Why are modern day pitchers such whimps?
  18. We need a legit power bat in the line up. We can't muddle through AL East without one.....We do need to attempt to replace Ortiz (yeah, yeah, no one can replace him). Get someone as close to.
  19. If Pablo is simply let go and someone picks him up for league minimum, does his salary count for Red Sox luxury tax?
  20. I agree....
  21. It remains to be seen if Benintendi was rushed. Management thought he's ready but this is the same bunch that thought Holt is a major league starting left fielder.
  22. Pomeranz just looks like a big dork....already 90+ pitches. What's the deal with him? I thought he was a control guy.... What is it about Boston? He's beginning to pitch like Dice K.....
