  1. I believe Papi is not playing. That puts Hanley as DH or maybe Young. Keep Beni in left field. Hill at 3B and Hanley 1B. Young DH. Or Young in LF. Hanley DH. Hill at 3B and Shaw at 1B.
  2. Or his cavalier attitude about the 'new' strike zone. He was sticking to his principle, damn the team so what if I'm striking out looking. For that, he can stay in Cleveland forever where Tito is willing to kiss his ass every day. No f***ing thanks.
  3. Any idea how soon in 2017 Smith will be ready?
  4. DD if nothing else is programmatic. He's methodical when addressing needs. #1 off season issue = lining up the bullpen #2 off season issue = additional depth/upgrade at starting pitching #3 off season issue = dealing with not having Ortiz Koji, Ziegler and Tazawa are all free agents. I have a bad feeling JF is high on Tazawa. I will scream if he says Tazawa struggled because he was overworked. On paper, we look to be strong with our five, assuming Wright returns to norm. What to do with Clay....good grief, it's never easy with the guy. It maybe that we go next year with what we have, plug in Hanley and Young at DH, move around Shaw and Moncada. It should be a fun winter. White Sox may be ready to go young. What are we willing to give up?
  5. Pass on Napoli.....why the love affair with the guy that was big part of Sox trending downward? Move on, quit romanticizing the past. Hell he's definitely past his prime. Spend the money more wisely. I don't want to see a 180 strike out guy in this dynamic lineup.
  6. I get it that Beni is technically a rookie, but everyone else should be moved up one. He ain't coming back to the minors. I'm intrigued by power bats, Bobby Dalbec and Josh Ockimey. I think Dalbec will always strike out much like Orioles Davis but looks to have legit power. It will be interesting to see if the Sox will reshuffle the deck and trade for a top of the line SP. You've mentioned that White Sox maybe rebuilding. Obviously we'll have to give up some players. Will the Sox be willing to clean out the farm system? Price, Porcello, Sales, E Rod, Pomeranz, Wright looks formidable.
  7. Very good point. Other teams have 2 less games to make up ground. We don't have to gain ground, although that would be helpful, but we just need not to lose ground.
  8. i was trying to be funny
  9. I wished we hadn't traded away Wade Miley......
  10. Realistic View 2016...Clay still afraid to throw strikes....what the hell is Hambree doing in a meaningful game? Is everybody in the pen tired? What a bunch of f***ing pussies.
  11. Get two outs and walks a guy on 0-21 streak on 4 straight pitches... Bunch of f***ing pussies.....get him the f*** out.....he's sucked. Put Koji in there....this was a winnable game and we're f***ing around like its a meaningless game...... Farrell can choke on it....
  12. Big test for E Rod today. He seems to pitch well against the Orioles. Too lazy to look up what he's done againt the Blue Jays. I like what I've been seeing from him. With Wright being out indefinitely, Clay B appears to be coming back. I hate it that he does just enough to sucker us in again. But that's for this off season discussion. Having Koji back definitely helps. Next up, Benintendi. We're beginning to look like definite contenders.
  13. Obviously Moncada at some point will be our 3B. But I'm not married to him at this point. This is all about winning the Division. I don't care if we do it with 9 midgets. Everyone has to do whatever it takes to win every game. That has to be the mind set. Pedey gets it. Everyone needs to shut up and play. Like it or not, John Farrell is commanding this team. Be smart, John.
  14. He needs to keep his thoughts out of papers and get the job done. I'm sure he's a great guy but you have to earn your right to whine in the majors. He's got no street creditability.
  15. Xander batted .219 in August....He's 3-15 in September......Kimmi may disagree but I wouldn't bat a guy hitting .219 in second hole.
  16. Xander batted .219 in August....He's 3-15 in September. He's completely lost at the plate. I understand loyalty but you have to do what's best for the team. Holaday is 4-28......Hanigan at .173...some ugly numbers.....
  17. We're not tough......Exhibit 1....Xander Bogaerts. People keep saying that he's out of slump but I don't see it. He needs to be moved down in the line up. He's become a rally killer. I haven't even checked the stats. It just feels like he's not hitting. I used the analogy of a SEC team running up the score on mid major team. That's us.
  18. Yep....this Sox team runs up score and offensive stats on mediocre pitching......our offense is overrated because we play in AL East park. They can't hit good pitching.
  19. I would categorize his outings as 'wreckless' and that's not a compliment. As a coach, I want to trust my players. He's untrustworthy. It's a crap shoot when he pitches.
  20. Nice pitching by the A's today vs no black hole lineup.
  21. The whole premise was based on acquiring bullpen help. Are we going to sign three free agents in the pen? If yes, then name some names.
  22. Brock Holt just sucks in left field......he has made so many no plays....
  23. Lester debacle is history. You learn from it and move forward. Sox as orgainzation is in great place right now. We have under team control, all nine projected starting position players for 2017-2019. We have all of our starters under team control for next two years. Bullpen needs work but we've faced bigger problems. Despite young talent at major league level, our farm system still has some high level prospects. And there's time for them to be developed properly. There's no rush any longer. We hold the cards. We can wait and make good trades, not out of desperation.
  24. Yep....this is a fan forum about the Red Sox...I'm 60 years old and I still get excited about the Sox.....
  25. Talking out of both sides of my mouth, I could see Shaw being a viable option at 1B and moving Hanley to DH. Our line up could be set for at least three more years with Hanley, Sandy, Shaw, Pedey, Xander, Moncada, Benintendi, Bradley Jr and Betts. From financial flexibility, this maybe the most prudent approach. It will allow unencumbered funds to be spent elsewhere. Xander, Sandy and Hanley would become FA in 2020 (probably no interest in extending Hanley by then), Bradley and Betts in 2021. It's exciting to think that this core group can stay together for several years. At some point we need to work on extending Betts before FA. He's the big get.
