  1. Really good article about Sox messing up Swihart situation for short term gain. Best scenario would have been to put him back in AAA and work on his defensive catching. We no longer need a left fielder. Young and Benintendi will have it covered in 2017 unless we can unload Young for a relief pitcher. Swihart needs to work on catching. His trade value has to be low right now. I can see Pedey being out for long stretches over next 5 years. He just goes all out and I don't think his body is durable. Need to have a Jesus meeting about Hanley. Are we simply trying to recoup some of his salary? Will he hit good enough to play 1B or DH for another 3 years? What to do with Shaw? Pablo? Our starting pitching is beginning to look good in comparison to our relievers. Only one doing well is a summer rental. Ugh.
  2. I just don't get why we didn't go with a younger guy, E Rod....I don't care if he pitched the day before or schedule to pitch next day...tell him to stop at 3B...... He's a terrible manager.
  3. I'm sorry, we don't have tough guys in the pen....they all seem soft. They pitch with absolutely no accountability. It happens time and time again. 4-1 lead and the guys are nonchalant. They all have small pieces in failure;it's a group failure. I just hate Barnes demeanor. So above it all. I enjoy guys like Peavy. At least he owns it. Did you see the Pomeranz' facial expression when he's taken out? One of disbelief. Hey dude, you got up to 90+ pitches in just 5+ innings. You constantly go to full count, throwing over 20 pitches per inning.
  4. Hanley is worthless....I rather see Shaw hit than Hanley... and he's going to be our DH? Our big black hole is in #5 spot....
  5. Benintendi gets a hit off Layne....what is Young going to give that Benintendi won't?
  6. Luck, not ready, panic move, I really don't know what the hell I'm talking about..... BUT HE'S HELPED US WIN COUPLE OF GAMES....that is the point, no?
  7. but the third strike was 4" outside is what he told his dad......dad replied you cant let the umpire dtermine your fate with two strkes.....yep umpiring sucks.....do you ever notice Brock Holt never gets a break when it comes to balls and strikes? every pitch is 3-0 count for him....
  8. I'm giving Pomeranz one more chance.....
  9. Even if bat wasn't ready, his hair was......he has major league full set of hair....ok I'm back on medication. Ready to play nice.
  10. Only in the porn industry..
  11. "And our people kept coming up and saying, 'Well, we think he can play at the big league level. We think he's ready,'" Dombrowski said. "Now, don't look for him to be in the middle of the lineup like he will eventually. But he's a well-rounded player. He's a good defensive player. He runs the bases well. He has a good arm." And there are many countless articles where DD or his subordinates are touting Benintendi. Smugness of 'experts' on this board disparaging others are unbelievable. Hey, it's NOT ME saying he's ready. IT'S THE ENTIRE FREAKING RED SOX MANAGEMENT so maybe you should reconsider who thinks who is smarter. Just because you think everyone marches to the same progression mean jack s***. YOU SHOULD BE SENDING YOUR RESUME TO THE SOX FRONT OFFICE.
  12. He appears to have overcome adversity from time to time as he's progressed in his baseball career. I don't think anyone is naive to think there won't be hiccups. He has the advantage right now with no 'books' on him. I doubt minor league pitchers can exploit his weaknesses but the major league pitchers will and teams will defense him better. You can laugh all you want but this team needed spark from LF with all the injuries. He was a top 10 draft pick. He was college player of the year. Maybe we should cut him slack. I doubt he's going to be a mental case and fade away from baseball if he struggles from time to time. Everyone here compares every player to Clay Buchholtz. There are some mentally tough athletes.
  13. I just saw an article ranking mlb projected starting rotation prior to 2016 season. Price, Porcello, E Rod, Buchholtz and Kelly were #10 or so, ahead of Baltimore and Toronto. Factor in Price getting to horrendous start (but winning because of historical offensive prowess) and E Rod being hurt, Sox basically went 1-5 on projected starting pitchers. We've had incredible run of bad streaks projecting out. They are simply not getting the job done. I'm not a big fan of John Farrell but he's had some rough patches. Puts in his closer last night and the guy is not reliable, simple as that.
  14. This will be the biggest loss if we let this get away...
  15. How about pitching to contact when you are up by 3?
  16. Benintendi was the consolation prize for coming in last in 2014.....
  17. Nice job by Ben for extending Porcello....He made few good moves.....
  18. Beny getting respect with 2 strikes..8-16....Sandy Leon start. Moon you and I have been vindicated on Benny...
  19. As far as I'm concerned the outfield is SET. Young needs to DH next year against left handers. Hanley on first vs Lefties, Shaw plays 1B or 3B vs righties
  20. Now we have Benintendi for 6 years of team control.....cheaper to develop talent in house. (but in all honesty, he was a good player coming out of college and we got him because we came in last in 2014) I don't know about you but he sure looks to be the left fielder for us. Maybe Young can DH a little next year. Get both Hanley and Young against Lefties. Against righties, Shaw can play first and Hanley DH.
  21. And half of you wanted Benintendi to play AAA......why waste his talent?
