Ranking positions with no concerns for 2017. 1 CF Bradley is outstanding CF. Great coverage, great arm. Adding slugging % to his offense was a big plus. 2 RF Betts has converted to RF seamlessly. Great jump on balls. Has pop on his bat. Good speed. 3 SS Xander has become adequate shortstop defensively. Hits for high average. I'd take Betts over him due to better power numbers. 4 2B Pedey simply needs to stay healthy. Can he do it for another 5 years? 5 1B Hanley would be rated higher if he could provide more power 6 3B Shaw has to learn to hit left handed pitching 7 C Sox currently own 5th best offensive output. Will have Vazquez to replace Hanigan. If Sandy comes down to earth, this position may become question mark. 8 LF Holt love fest continues but to me he's mediocre fielder and his bat does not justify full year start 9 DH Encarnacion or bust.....just refer back to last night's game So we can fix our biggest problem by signing a proven power hitter. Hitters are usually not at risky as pitchers, especially DH's. Sooner we find out about Benintendi and Moncada, better equipped Sox will be to get rid of redundancy/blocked players for needs.

Hill is batting below .200 since coming over to Sox. I think I've watched his every at bat and it has not been very impressive.

Question has to be internally who tags along with the core group of Betts, Bradley and Xander? Time and time again, it's better to develop players internally than overpaying for a free agent based on past and not future productivity. (Look at what the Yankees are finally doing) Benintendi surely has to be in the mix. At the very least, he should be a September call up. Moncada situation is little more tricky because of his defensive position. Can he become adequate 3B thereby moving Shaw over to 1B and Hanley to DH? If his best position is in OF, then what to do with Benintendi? My hope is Swihart eventually ends up behind the plate for Red Sox. How will he get that chance? Or do you teach him to play 1B also so that he can play multiple positions? Sox will have more money than available talent in the FA market this winter. Here's to going all out for Encarnacion.

Sox had the luxury of hitting Bradley 7-9 early in the year and driving in runs. Now there's a black hole in bottom of our batting order. By resting Papi, Sox trots out sub 200 guy in Hill, swing and miss king Brycee baby in left, bat .200 vs lefty hitter in Shaw, and bat singles hitter Hanley as DH. I don't care how many runs we score, we don't put fear in a pitch that Toronto hitters do. We need home run productions out of corner positions. Other than Betts, we are solely lacking in power department. If you have chance to improve the team, you do it. Aaron Hill simply has not earned the respect from his teammates. And I rather see a true outfielder than bunch of utility players disguising as an OF.

Look at our starting line up....this is what it will look like without Ortiz. If you don't think we need a power bat such as Encarnacion then we don't see the same game. Sandy will come down to earth. Shaw will still hit sub 200 vs lefties. Who plays left when Young is not in. Is he really the long term answer? Holt? Please. This is not a complete team. We haven't even started to talk about our pitching. What the hell did we see in Aaron Hill?

Weak bat in LF and Sandy coming back down to earth will hurt the Sox. Hill is not hitting at all. Might as well give Shaw his bats vs left handed pitchers. What the hell is wrong with Boston? What's in the water? They all suck once they become a Sox.

Nice at bat there by Bryce baby....take a fast ball right down the middle, late on 2nd pitch and take 3rd strike as though he's going to get a benefit of doubt batting 8th.

There is no way Sox would trade Moncada.

Moon, I'm not talking about a 2 month rental. My ultimate question is if you are the GM, and you have chance to acquire Chris Sale without giving up any major league talent, would you do it? If not, what's going to be different next year? Our window right now is 2-3 years with this group without extensions and FA signings. What would you be willing to give up knowing at least one of our top two, Moncada and Benintendi would be involved?

Certainly not Sale or Quinatana. Maybe someone better than Pomeranz, but probably not a pitcher that will give us a feeling that we have just become a major contender for the next 2-3 years. So we just hope and pray that we'd get different results with same starting pitchers? (don't get me wrong, I like the 5 we have now). Ortiz is gone. Isn't it DD's job to go win the World Series? Is he now going to take Ben's approach? Just asking.

And lots of Benjamin Franklin to keep them together
