  1. Very good sir....that's how I feel. Certain parks enhance one's production and Fenway does that for many players. I actually think both San Diego and San Francisco are tough hitters ball parks. (I've done no research on this)
  2. I think Cora would go out of his way to shield/defend Devers as much as he could and I wouldn't disagree. I would like to think I have my players' back. I mean Devers is his baby. I think he feels the same way about Bello. You can only be hard on Bello as Cora has been if he wasn't the father figure in Bello's baseball life. He cares about Bello very much and he can be hard on him. I'd like to think Bello understands that.....I always tell my players if I'm not talking to you that's when you worry. I've given up on you.
  3. Few things to think about. Our 3 biggest arbitration players last year were Duran, Houck and Kutter. Houck and Kutter made about $7M between them and I doubt it would go up very much based on what they've done this year. Duran is an interesting case. Bres is all about analytics. Is Duran worth $8M in 2026 based on us being able to put up Anthony, Rafaela and Abreu in the outfield? Also think about Bregman coming back. Doesn't that necessitate Mayer moving to 2B? Or switch spots with Story? Mayer is better infielder than Campbell. Wouldn't Campbell as a right handed batter be natural to move to the outfield? Thus becoming a part time platoon for both Mayer and Abreu? So realistically we have I think about $60M to get to the first tax line (assuming Bregman comes back). But moving Duran should get us another pitching piece. We may part with another starting pitcher, Giolito maybe, if Houck and or Kutter returns. Or maybe one of them gets traded.
  4. Our bullpen is well rested thanks to stellar outings by our starting pitching. Since last Wednesday, no one had to throw over 20 pitches in an outing and we only used 3(Wed)-0(Thurs)-2(Fri)-3(Sat)-2(Sunday) relievers.
  5. Well I see it with my own eyes. While Devers sits on the back bench usually by himself, I saw our three rookies clamoring all over Bregman. Maybe he's easily approachable. I am not here to argue with you. If I follow your logic, then why do we have a cheater as our manager?
  6. Starter watch... Crochet, Bello, Dobbins, Buehler, Giolito, Kutter, Houck, Harrison, Fitts, Criswell, Sandoval, Tolle
  7. I would love to pin down Bregman. He clearly would be the leader in the clubhouse. Young kids already look up to him.
  8. I figure Giolito has 17 starts left. He needs to average 6 innings per start to get to the magic 140 innings to pick up next year's option. Hell, he may not even care. If he's healthy he may get a better deal elsewhere regardless.
  9. They were very surprised Montgomery dropped down to #12. Sox has done a good job with Dobbins. He appears to be a keeper right now. We still have Houck, Kutter and possibly a late addition in Patrick Sandoval.
  10. Who takes Devers' spot on the 26 man roster? How about "password" to DH? Let's piss off more people....lol
  11. It took me 5 minutes to move on.....what can any of us do? I've just become a stronger believer in solidifying the pitching staff more than anything else is our #1 priority. Look how things have changed the last week with our starters putting up solid numbers, going deep into games. We're second in AL in almost every offensive category behind the Yankees but we're hovering at .500 level. That's all I need to know. You need superior pitching to win consistently in this league. Having a Crochet is good start.
  12. Oh it's definitely their fault. As I said, what was the plan when they signed Bregman when they had Casas at 1B, waiting for him to blossom. How does Devers fit in? His only spot was DH yet the team complained about having a $30M DH.
  13. Bottom line is this....perhaps they painted themselves into a corner..... It goes back to looking for a better defender at 3B that can also hit and they found it. I would think that the team thought this through before signing Bregman. What to do with Devers? Casas was healthy. Then it just came down to thinking that they had a noose around their neck with a DH making $30M a year for next 8 years. No one forced Brez into this situation. I would really love to hear what their long term plans were at the Bregman signing.
  14. Suppose we end up with no super stars.....no Devers, no Bregman CC Navarez 1B Gonzalez/Casas 2B Campbell SS Story 3B Mayer LF Duran CF Rafaela RF Anthony DH Yoshida Utility....Wong/Gonzalez/Refsnyder/Hamilton We need to lock up Bregman. Can we trade Chapman, Buehler, Giolito and get some value and then re-sign them all?
  15. We still have Story which means we have Mayer at 3B. He's fine defensively at 3B. We can find another bat or combination of bats. 1B, 3B, DH spots are open.
  16. We theoretically have the money and prospect pieces to acquire/trade for needs.
  17. Yankee starting rotation Cole, $36M tax payroll through 2028 Rondon, $27M tax payroll through 2028 Fried, $27.25M tax payroll through 2032 They are going with 3 cost controlled starters right now with Cole being out. This is the 1st line of defense against the Yankees. We have to match them. Red Sox Crochet, $28.333M tax payroll through 2026-2031 Bello, $9.167M tax payroll through 2029 (club option 2030) Dobbins, team controlled through 2030 Kutter, team controlled through 2028 Houck, team controlled through 2027 I don't care how we do it. This group needs upgrading. With our latest trade, we have $76M in cap space (assuming Bregman does not opt out). We will lose Buehler, Giolito and Chapman. We need Chapman ($30M/2 yrs), and an ace. We can score enough runs with what we have. Ace before another bat. Pitching, pitching, pitching. PS. Of course if we matched Yankees' payroll, we'd have another $70M. Can you imagine if JH tells Bres you got $146M to spend or $309M in total?
  18. So, I checked my phone last night and I had 2 missed calls. The guy is a Reds fan. He said you won't believe who just got traded. My first question was, was it to the Pittsburgh Pirates? no, Was it to the Detroit Tigers?, no.
  19. One podcaster that I follow completely went off the deep end last night. He was really hurt and angry. Just like getting dumped several times, you begin to build resistance. It doesn't hurt me as much. I've hit rock bottom with this team in the past. Sun will come up tomorrow.
  20. I was being flippant to another poster bringing up the money is needed for the soccer team conspiracy. Most ownership group, so called a conglomerate, want each entity to stand on their own feet. If my sox has to subsidize the soccer entity, I would dump the soccer team, as JH would. You don't get to become wealthy by carrying losers on your books.
  21. Why did you even bring it up then? Everyone here is bit too angry for me. This team is being built for the future and they chose to part way with Devers. $30M per year for DH is over pay. (obviously the TEAM decided to do that). I'm more concerned with what we do with the savings. I hope we go after another ace. 8 year, $218M for Max Fried ($27.25M annual tax payroll) comparable looks good to me for next year.
  22. No I was not, but I'm just a fan. I don't control John Henry. I pay $150 per year to watch my Sox play on the MLB network. When they suck, I just turn off the TV. This team is definitely rostered incorrectly. We still have too many outfielders. I'm happy with Crochet and Bregman signings. So there's that.......it's too bad we snuck in Bregman at 3B without informing Devers. I would have handle it differently.
  23. I believe the highest paid 'athlete' is a soccer player. They're not cheap. Heck, $30M is a chump change.
  24. I think the Mookie trade was bit more complicated than Devers'. Mookie was becoming a FA, Devers was not. After the great championship year in 2018, JH went ahead and spent more money for 2019. On paper, our starting rotation was rock solid. Unfortunately the group imploded. I think JH was jilted that year. He did not want to sign over 30 pitchers to a long term contract but he did it anyway. I really think that JH is looking for the Rays model with extra $100M in spending. Rightfully or wrongfully, I think that's where we're at......
