  1. Some of you make too big a deal about the competition coming up. It really doesn't matter. Red Sox can play well against good teams and poorly versus bad teams. We are the fifth best team with a record 18-20 against >.500 teams in the American League. But right now we're seed #9 in the playoff chase. Two of the current six playoff bound teams have losing records versus >.500 team. The Twins in the sixth spot has a 14-20 vs >.500 teams and the Rays lead the league with 22-14 versus >.500 teams. Maybe we should do better against bad teams and along with not being dominant at home, each game is an adventure for us. Good thing is that we can compete and beat the Yankees but on the flip side we can also play poorly against the White Sox and lose. I don't care who we play. Just go win the series and we'll get there at the end.

  3. I know it's too early but when Bregman comes back, I rather see Mayer play 2B than Campbell. Obviously Mayer I think would be better defender than Campbell who can play in the outfield. I would also live with Anthony. He'll have a hot streak and raise his OPS say in a week. For now, C-Narvaez, 1B-Toro, 2B-Mayer, SS-Story, 3B-Bregman, LF-Duran, CF-Rafaela, RF-Anthony, DH-Devers. Then you'll have Refs, Gonzalez, Campbell/Hamilton if Campbell revers to May numbers. This lineup should work. I also would hate to give up on Abreu, because I do think Refsnyder is close to retiring. Just my opinion. I think he wants get into coaching.
  4. Well, I say if you throw enough mud onto the wall, eventually it will stick. Injuries, injuries, injuries...
  5. The four teams in front of us for the wildcard spot (#6), all have negative run differential. We have positive 18 run differential and sits in #11 spot in AL. Jays are the only team with a negative run differential that is in the playoff if the season ended last night.
  6. Only 40 pitches after 3 innings. Good job by Buehler. Only 51 pitches after 4 innings. Nice job by Buehler. I hate walks....
  7. Meaningless stat....but I like it. Team Record when he starts 8-6 Crochet 5-3 Dobbins 5-5 Bello 5-3 Giolito 6-4 Buehler 29-21 4-15 Others (Houck 2-7, Fitts 0-5, Newcomb 2-3) 33-36 Total Big part is we always start the year with injuries. Tampa Bay Starters, 14-13-13-13-13. Only 5 pitchers have started.
  8. Youngest to the oldest, position players. (Age as of 9/30/25..end of regular season) 21 Anthony-(7 yrs of team control) 22 Mayer---(7 yrs of team control) 23 Campbell-(6 years of team control) 25 Rafaela-(7 yrs of team control) 25 Casas-(4 yrs of team control) 26 Abreu-(5 yrs of team control)-next guy we should extend. 26 Narvaez-(6 yrs of team control) 28 Devers-(9 yrs of team control) 29 Duran-(4 yrs of team control) We have the guys that I want on our roster (Anthony was the sealer). I am good with this group. Brez can add and subtract as he sees fit. Got to work on starting pitchers next. Add Bregman and this group can be solid. Really too bad that Casas got hurt. But 1B seems to be in capable hands with Toro (28) and Gonzalez (28).
  9. First of all, good job by Whitlock. I don't care that he gets hit. I just care that he doesn't walk anyone. I despise walks, especially 7-8-9 hitters. Have we ever have legit 4 rookies in the line up this early in the season?
  10. So you are a major league shortstop making $21M a year and you don't know the infield fly rule? Okay.
  11. He has the lowest walk rate per 9 innings on our staff. He challenges the hitters. He'll give up home runs because he will make mistakes in the strike zone. Just think about his pitch count of 64 over 5 innings. I rather watch him pitch over Bello any time. So sick and tired of major leaguers that can't throw strikes. Nothing irks me more than watching Bello get ahead in the count 0-2 then go to 3-2 count. No wonder he has trouble getting through the fourth inning. It's a miracle when he's not over 80 pitches after 5 innings.
  12. Thanks for that observation. He did not walk a batter in 5 innings. His pitch count was relatively low. If you can"t throw strikes, you are not a major league pitcher. I am impressed.
  13. We just gave up 9 9 7 7 runs yet won 3 out of 4. Offense can't keep this up. Pitching has to get better.
  14. How about Whit getting one out. He'll need couple of days iff now.
  15. What a freaking' joke...3 walks and a homer Where do we find these guys?
  16. Another fine outing by Whitlick. A hit and bases loaded walk. What a disappointment. He sucks.
  17. Cora understands the excitement surrounding Anthony. “I think every market goes through this, right?” Cora said. “I think Kansas City (with No. 19 prospect Jac Caglianone) went through it, right, the last two months or whatever it was. I bet there’s other teams that have good players in the minor leagues and their fan base and people are gonna talk about it. So that’s part of the job.” No other team has a #1 prospect Alex. Hell, it's not up to him. He has no idea when the call up is coming. Why doesn't he just say it's not up to me?
  18. Ok, I'll admit. It's nice having Toro right now. He can play both corner positions and he's a switch hitter. We go lefty lefty, then 7 righties. Great to have options.
