  1. Exactly.... He's defeated....He's a toast...
  2. I would agree on Santana's versatility if not for having Marwin on our roster. Arroyo can play both short and second base, Kike second and centfield, Marwin pretty much every position. I'm a Sox fan and I want all to do well. My only point being that we exhaust internal possibilities before looking outside the organization. I don't think we've done that yet. Bringing up Duran as an example maybe a desperate move but it won't cost us anything. We've already dealt with less than stellar performances from the likes of Cordero, Santana, Marwin and Dalbec. Maybe, just maybe they're wrong on Duran. Bloom is smart enough to know he's not perfect.
  3. I am all for Ottavino type deal. But we'll need to keep the money below $10M. (prorated, less than $5M).
  4. The Red Sox bullpen picture is coming into focus It’ll never be beyond improvement, but the foundation is solid. https://www.overthemonster.com/2021/6/23/22546918/boston-red-sox-bullpen-barnes-ottavino-whitlock-taylor-hernandez-sawamura "They have a group of five arms they are willing to throw out in late and close situations, all of whom continue to come through at a strong rate. Matt Barnes has been playing the role of the relief ace, and doing it just about as well as any pitcher in baseball. Adam Ottavino has recovered from a rough start to settle in nicely as the primary setup option, shutting teams down in the eighth inning. Josh Taylor and Darwinzon Hernandez are executing as a dynamic duo from the left side, with Taylor in particular dominating right now. And Hirokazu Sawamura is using his mid-90s splitter to give batters a look they aren’t seeing from anybody else. Of his (Whitlock) 20 appearances this season, half of them have seen him go at least two innings, with another four on top of that being between one and two frames. The Red Sox should absolutely target some sort of relief help at the trade deadline, and they should continue to keep an open mind about their own in-house options like Eduard Bazardo (whenever he’s healthy again) and Kaleb Ort, among others in Worcester."
  5. I come back to this post.....I don't see us advancing in 'playoff's' with current starting rotation. We need Sale, Whitlock and/or Houck inserted. Red Sox ERA--WHIP 3.90-1.27 Eovaldi 4.32-1.40 Perez 4.36-1.35 Pivetta 4.36-1.61 Richards 6.07-1.46 E Rod All with 14 starts other than Eovaldi, 15 starts. White Sox (possible 1st round opponent) ERA--WHIP 3.98-1.34 Keuchel 3.99-1.30 Cease 3.86-1.10 Giolito 2.14-1.00 Lynn 1.83-0.84 Rodon
  6. I love Bloom's approach. I don't want to see any Sox prospect traded for a 'rental'. None, not Chavis, not Matta, no one, period. We should look at every prospect in the organization to make current team better. What exactly is the downside to replacing Santana? That someone else will pick him up and then he goes on a tear? Do you see that happening? We can be patient with Dalbec, but not Santana. He's a veteran. He was hired gun to hit for us. I've watched almost his every at bat. I don't see anything resembling what everyone else sees. Doing everything also means to stretch out Whitlock. Again, no one here has told me it can't be done. Our starters often fail in first couple of innings. Why not go with an opener? Bloom has had success with it. Why not exhaust every f***ing possibility within the organization before emptying out the farm to acquire a rental?
  7. I'm going to be positive today. Great thing about striking out is that there's no chance of hitting into double play. Sometimes I wish for a strike out when say Vaz comes to bat.
  8. We're 18-8 vs AL East. We win the division if we keep that up. Sox now 15 games above .500 for third time this year. Let's get to 16. Rays 2 games behind in the loss column. Life is good. Even Santana got a hit today.
  9. And the Yankees lose to pesky Royals.
  10. Never mind...Darwinzon it is....
  11. I've waited over 3 hours to watch my main man, Whitlock......
  12. Kike looks much more comfortable at the plate not leading off.....lol
  13. Was it Choi that played the fat guy falling down rounding first on a homer in Moneyball?
  14. All good points. I was taking a shot at the Sox.
  15. E Rod in June 4 GS 20 IP 24 Hits 18 Runs 16 Earned Runs What are we waiting for? A 10 run offensive outburst?
  16. We score 5 runs and we're fighting for our lives. Sox better do something. Put E Rod on IL, bring up a pitcher and go to the opener. Keep rotating pitchers between AAA and the majors.
  17. I rather watch him hit .119 than Santana hit .119.
  18. Why in the hell did the Rays wait so long to bring up #1 prospect in the minors? I bet some genius thought he needed more at bats.
  19. Put it in Perspective... There's a chance we'd win the Division and be seeded #3. Likely opponent would be the White Sox, with Houston being seeded #1. Soxes have one thing in common in that both rotations have been very healthy. Both teams have gone basically with 5 starters. (sorted by games started) Red Sox ERA--WHIP 3.90-1.27 Eovaldi 4.32-1.40 Perez 4.36-1.35 Pivetta 4.36-1.61 Richards 6.21-1.47 E Rod White Sox ERA--WHIP 3.98-1.34 Keuchel 3.99-1.30 Cease 3.86-1.10 Giolito 2.14-1.00 Lynn 1.83-0.84 Rodon Sale and Houck should be in play to start for us. We just don't measure up what with recent downward trending. We have scored 60 more runs than the White Sox in 72 games so we have that going for us.
  20. Santana would be my last choice. Bring back Kike!
  21. Santana leading off....just wonder what goes through Cora's head when he makes up his lineup. Does he fill out 2-5 first, then 6-9, checks to see what position is not covered, picks a player and puts him as the leadoff batter? Santana is 4-36 with 4 singles in June. The guy with power and speed has 0 HR and 0 SB. He's been on base 7 times so maybe he's running the bases well. Please bring back Cordero.
  22. Honorable Mention: Franchy Cordero (Worcester) per Overthemonster If you’re looking just strictly at the stat line, Cordero certainly had a case to be in the spot held down by Duran. The outfielder hit .375/.565/.625 in the six-game stretch, walking a whopping seven times while striking out only thrice. Like I said, the heroics for Duran pushed him over the top for me, but Cordero may get the last laugh as he seems like a much more likely call-up. The outfielder has been tearing it up for Worcester since being demoted, the Red Sox are getting nothing from Danny Santana, and they need a lefty, at least for the bench. I would be mildly surprised if Cordero isn’t up within the week. I would like to see him again.
  23. Brian Johnson, ex Boston Red Sox pitcher, signs minor-league deal with Angels Hey Moon, do you remember the time we thought he was going to be really good? There were three other prospects that never panned out. Our prospects look much better these days.
  24. I guess the question becomes is Cora ready to give up on Santana? I believe Cora has much to do with it. I think Marwin is here to stay for the duration of 2021 season because of his defensive versatility. He looks to be better interior infielder than Santana. Offensively, I can't imagine Duran doing any worse than Santana. They both have speed and power.
  25. Bloom himself has said he thinks Duran has chance to be 'great'. I read a lot. NO, NO, NO, ABSOLUTELY NO. Bloom does not say that about EVERYONE. I've never read where he has used the word "GREAT" about any other prospect. So please don't go down that rabbit hole, "Oh what's he going to say? He sucks?"
