  1. Man, you always bust me with facts....stop it.
  2. Sooooo, with Richards fiasco, did a memo go out to the scouting department to re-evaluate the spin rate?
  3. I have nothing against Kike. 1 I didn't agree Cora's decision to have him lead off after the slow start. Cora was stubborn about it. He was confident he was right. 2 Kike's overpaid from where I sit, on my couch with rear view mirrors. We're playing with less than a full deck. What's the trigger even for getting rid of Santana? Arroyo comes back and Chavis demoted? Does Red Sox have PR department? I love watching Whitlock pitch. I don't care about the score when he comes in. He works quick, he attacks hitters, he doesn't walk very many hitters, he's got quality pitches. He's mentally tough. I will love watching Duran hit and run the bases. I don't get that tingly feeling with Santana. Because it's all about pleasing me. (jk)
  4. Just because we're bigger market team than Rays doesn't mean we should waste money. I"m extremely happy with Bloom. But it's about getting 'value' in return. $14M for Kike does not look like value addition so far. Hell I would have been happy with Brock Holt and use the other $5M on a reliever.
  5. I didn't realize the guy played that much. #6, #6 amd #8 in total at bats for Dodgers during 2018-2020. My point still stands, $14M was an overpay based on what I see. Arroyo and Marwin are better defensive second baseman. I rather watch Duran struggle than watching Kike play CF. Maybe he's going through the adjustment to AL pitchers.
  6. Grading Boston Red Sox’s winter additions: the good (Garrett Whitlock, Hunter Renfroe), the bad (Kiké Hernández) and the ugly (Danny Santana) | Chris Cotillo (MLB Notebook) Finally.....imagine the Rays paying 2 year $14M for former bench player. Not a very good FA signing. If he is what he is then we had no business signing him for $14M. This was Cora signing.
  7. Balls and strike calls are atrocious. It's pure luck sometimes. Robo ump....it's time.
  8. Pedey averaged 62 games per year during his team friendly contract. We paid him $13.75M per year. $221,774 per game played. 2002 at bats, almost $55K per bat. He won gold glove in 2014. All of his major awards came before he signed his big contract.
  9. Alright you win.....I made intelligent assumptions and came up with this .217 (AVG) .261 (OBP) .301 (SLG) .563 (OPS)-Lead off batter in 1st inning .317 (AVG) .371 (OBP) .534 (SLG) .905 (OPS)-Non lead off batter in 1st inning You are correct....but the disparity is alarming.
  10. It would be over 1.000 if not for pitcher batting lead off.
  11. It was little over a month ago and I suggested 4 yr, $40M for Barnes. I know there were people saying he would command about $18M. I just have problem paying that much for a bullpen guy. Period.
  12. This team is imploding. Forget the score. Look at the way they're playing. They got bailed out by Pivetta. We are stubborn about not bringing up a leadoff batter that's tearing it up in AAA, not AA, but AAA. How many more bats do you think he needs seeing the same AAA pitchers? Why not try Whitlock as an opener then stretch him out each outing? The team needs a left handed bat and infusion of some athleticism. Speed kills.
  13. This is awful good!
  14. Maybe he will go on a tear......
  15. But she makes the point 2-5 should be batting 1--4. No one can convince me giving Santana first crack to hit for 5th time is ok under any scenario.
  16. Kimmi please e-mail Cora on optimal lineup.
  17. Question is how quickly can he get it 'right' on the fly during the pennant race. Coaches are asking him to change the mix of his pitches. He's working on changeup and the coaches want him to throw two-seamer more often. I like the guy but he is really deflated about the situation he's in. I'll be first to jump back on his bandwagon if he comes out of this. Yes, we're still in first place despite all of my bitching here lately. Sorry.
  18. Moon would tell you that because we are $5.5M under the cap, we can afford to acquire someone with a tax payroll of $15M on July 31st (pro-rated for 1/3 of the season). Question is how many prospects are we willing to give up and how good are they? I would prefer the team exhaust all in house options before looking elsewhere. Let's hope they don't wait until we're 5 games down to make these moves.
  19. Chance of him completely losing is just as good. He was struggling with his command prior to the MLB crackdown. I don't know how he will get out of this mess. It was telling that he was most vocal about the enforcement of the rule.
  20. It's great that Santana, Verdugo and JD got to bat 5 times. Let's give our .454 OPS guy the first chance at batting 5 times in a game. There are many smarter people than me on this board but you will never convince me that it's okay to bat Santana first. Never.
  21. We have an opening for leadoff batter. Santana is 0-4 with 3 K's. Why would we want him getting 5 at bats sooner than other 8 guys? That absolutely makes no sense. The guy's OPS is .461.....I mean, come on man. What the hell? Remember the scene in Moneyball when manager refuses NOT to play a guy? GM finally trades manager's guy so the manager has to play the guy GM wants. Bloom just needs to cut Santana so Cora won't be tempted to play him and bat him first.
  22. Definitely not for $10M club option. Money can be spent elsewhere. This is when you consider piecing together $10M plus Ottavino's $8M and Pedey's $13M and get a top of the line pitcher or we can keep gambling on mediocre pitchers. Rays are paying $2.5M for Rich Hill.
  23. Obviously Richards can no longer be counted on......I'm looking for bright side. In addition to Pedey's $13.75M going away, Richard's $10M will go away. Probably Ottavino's $8M will also go away. How about an opener with Whitlock?
  24. Look at the bright side....we'll have $10M more for next year.
  25. We paid $14M for this guy?
