  1. E Rod in June 4 GS 20 IP 24 Hits 18 Runs 16 Earned Runs What are we waiting for? A 10 run offensive outburst?
  2. We score 5 runs and we're fighting for our lives. Sox better do something. Put E Rod on IL, bring up a pitcher and go to the opener. Keep rotating pitchers between AAA and the majors.
  3. I rather watch him hit .119 than Santana hit .119.
  4. Why in the hell did the Rays wait so long to bring up #1 prospect in the minors? I bet some genius thought he needed more at bats.
  5. Put it in Perspective... There's a chance we'd win the Division and be seeded #3. Likely opponent would be the White Sox, with Houston being seeded #1. Soxes have one thing in common in that both rotations have been very healthy. Both teams have gone basically with 5 starters. (sorted by games started) Red Sox ERA--WHIP 3.90-1.27 Eovaldi 4.32-1.40 Perez 4.36-1.35 Pivetta 4.36-1.61 Richards 6.21-1.47 E Rod White Sox ERA--WHIP 3.98-1.34 Keuchel 3.99-1.30 Cease 3.86-1.10 Giolito 2.14-1.00 Lynn 1.83-0.84 Rodon Sale and Houck should be in play to start for us. We just don't measure up what with recent downward trending. We have scored 60 more runs than the White Sox in 72 games so we have that going for us.
  6. Santana would be my last choice. Bring back Kike!
  7. Santana leading off....just wonder what goes through Cora's head when he makes up his lineup. Does he fill out 2-5 first, then 6-9, checks to see what position is not covered, picks a player and puts him as the leadoff batter? Santana is 4-36 with 4 singles in June. The guy with power and speed has 0 HR and 0 SB. He's been on base 7 times so maybe he's running the bases well. Please bring back Cordero.
  8. Honorable Mention: Franchy Cordero (Worcester) per Overthemonster If you’re looking just strictly at the stat line, Cordero certainly had a case to be in the spot held down by Duran. The outfielder hit .375/.565/.625 in the six-game stretch, walking a whopping seven times while striking out only thrice. Like I said, the heroics for Duran pushed him over the top for me, but Cordero may get the last laugh as he seems like a much more likely call-up. The outfielder has been tearing it up for Worcester since being demoted, the Red Sox are getting nothing from Danny Santana, and they need a lefty, at least for the bench. I would be mildly surprised if Cordero isn’t up within the week. I would like to see him again.
  9. Brian Johnson, ex Boston Red Sox pitcher, signs minor-league deal with Angels Hey Moon, do you remember the time we thought he was going to be really good? There were three other prospects that never panned out. Our prospects look much better these days.
  10. I guess the question becomes is Cora ready to give up on Santana? I believe Cora has much to do with it. I think Marwin is here to stay for the duration of 2021 season because of his defensive versatility. He looks to be better interior infielder than Santana. Offensively, I can't imagine Duran doing any worse than Santana. They both have speed and power.
  11. Bloom himself has said he thinks Duran has chance to be 'great'. I read a lot. NO, NO, NO, ABSOLUTELY NO. Bloom does not say that about EVERYONE. I've never read where he has used the word "GREAT" about any other prospect. So please don't go down that rabbit hole, "Oh what's he going to say? He sucks?"
  12. Apparently we're 17-8 vs AL East.......my bad...
  13. AL East 3-0 Rays 3-0 Yankees 5-4 Toronto 6-3 Orioles 17-7 combined.....we're +10 in AL East and +4 against all others.
  14. Slim picking on catcher free agency. Odd thing about catching position is that there are many, old guys still in the league and excelling. Vaz is relatively 'young' for a catcher at 31. I wonder how long it would take for Davis to be major league ready.
  15. I definitely don't want to overpay and sacrifice the future for shot at a ONE GAME PLAYOFF as a wildcard team. As you say, we'll have some internal options as players get healthy.
  16. I do like guys that can hit hard and long way. With Casas, we won't need Chavis at 1B as a backup or at 3B. He should be able to play LF. Renfroe can be the 4th OF....keep them all fresh.
  17. My dream line up assuming everyone hits on 6/21/21 (subject to change) C ???? 1B Casas/Dalbec/Devers 2B Chavis SS Xander (assuming he stays) 3B Devers/Dalbec LF Cordero (I love his power) CF Duran RF Verdugo DH Devers/Dalbec/Casas (Assuming JD is gone) Right now we're too right handed so adding Duran, Casas and Cordero will change the hitting composition.
  18. My dream line up assuming everyone hits C ???? 1B Casas/Dalbec/Devers 2B Chavis SS Xander (assuming he stays) 3B Devers/Dalbec LF Cordero (I love his power) CF Duran RF Verdugo DH Devers/Dalbec/Casas (Assuming JD is gone) Right now we're too right handed so adding Duran, Casas and Cordero will change the hitting composition. SP Sale SP Whitlock SP Houck SP Bello SP Seabold SP Matta SP Ward SP Groome SP Noah Song SP Jack Leiter/Kumar Rocker
  19. Moon, I think you know but you keep bring up the fact that Duran has gained power only this year. Well that's due to gaining muscle and changing his swing last year. So it's not as though he's doing the same thing he did back in 2019 and all of sudden his power output has increased. He's taken steps to increase his power. His power is not go down unless he reverts back to his old swing. I doubt Jimanez has been working to increase his power. Probably not a priority for him.
  20. At some point, he needs to command the strike zone. He has 49 K's in 35 innings but has also walked 20 batters. He is 6-6, 262lbs, will turn 23 on 8/23. Big boy.
  21. Meanwhile in Portland Frank German came out of the bullpen for the first time this season, tossing three innings of one-run ball. He struck out four and did not walk a batter as his ERA stayed at an even 3.00 in June. German was part of why we paid Ottavino's salary for 2021. His ERA was 8.47 in 5 starts in May. He had started 8 games before his recent relief stint.
  22. A walk-off three-run home run from Jarren Duran and another spotless relief performance from Kaleb Ort led the WooSox to their 10th win in 11 games. Duran was 0 for 3 with three strikeouts before his opposite-field home run in the 10th inning. It was his 12th home run of the year and he is now hitting .286/.379/.627. He entered the year with just eight career home runs in 199 games. Josh Ockimey added his seventh home run on the year. Good to see Kaleb Ort pitching well. Maybe a long shot to get called up. 17 G, 20 IP, 0.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP. Another Yankee cast off. Sweet.
  23. We'll see where we are as a team going into the All Star game. I'm very pleased with the season. We're learning about our players. Don't misconstrue me...... Kike...he only comes up in my 'negativity' posts when speaking about leadoff hitters. He is what he is is fine by me. Marwin....he has value in that in he plays multiple positions, including both outfield and infield, we probably need a guy like that....BUT NOT TWO GUYS LIKE THAT. Santana....he's just an enigma to me. (I just wanted to use that word) Not sure if we can upgrade much. I don't want to trade younger guys for a rental. Pitching...it's just concerning that we don't have a stopper, Eovaldi should be the guy but not sure. If Chris Sale returns in July, I'll be doing back flips. I think our pen is fine. Barnes, Ottavino, Taylor, Sawamura, Whitlock, Darwinzon. Tanner can be a big help when he gets healthy, starting or relieving.
  24. I suppose only way we see this is if our rotation continues to get hammered.
  25. No, No, No......Bello is a keeper as is Dalbec, at least until Casas shows he's better.
