I don’t think that JBJ starting was a “maybe.” Ever. Again, the Sox didn’t trade a cheaper middle-of-the-order starter to get two middling prospects and a more expensive 4th outfielder. The prospects were definitely a factor, but so was JBJ. Now at some point, it’s possible JBJ can become a 4th outfielder, but he’ll have to earn his way there. I’d still like to see them add a RHH platoon option for him. (No, not Christian “Fragile” Arroyo. Right field at Fenway is no place for OJT.). But so far they haven’t gotten one, unless it’s Rob Refsnyder, which would be even sillier since his career OPS vs LHP is worse than Bradley’s…

Yeah that part of the equation has been a sticking point. He is a surprisingly fast runner for his size. I think in time, he could be an excellent defender in RF. The problem, I have no idea how long “in time” is, but I do know how badly things can go between now and then…
