  1. Maybe, but there are others on the 40 man who will go first. Starting with anyone declaring free agency…
  2. The courts do…
  3. Hunter Harvey was claimed off waivers by the Giants. No word yet if Harvey was injured in the claiming process...
  4. He just left a clear path for Joey Bart...
  5. OK. I do like Locastro as a bench player and pinch runner...
  6. All the more reason to give hi ma QO...
  7. Miley was actually pretty good last year with his 3.37 ERA supported by a 3.97 FIP, so it's more surprising to me was that he was waived in the first place. Of course, Joe Castiglione did denounce him as an insufferable human being. Not by name, but mentioned his least favorite was someone who "threw a no hitter this year."
  8. Life absolutely works that way. Didn't you watch "Long Shot" on Netflix?
  9. The double bag half in foul ground? Yes, that should have been done a long time ago. That first base is not even in the base path is kind of silly. and by "kind of silly" I mean "very, very stupid."
  10. B-R has those stats, but you have to look at each pitcher individually and one year at a time...
  11. To which Jamie Moyer says "That's it?"
  12. We had one umpire who insisted on calling from 10 feet behind the mound. It's like he thought "I need to stand somewhere where it's difficult to call and and strikes and where I have no vantage point for fair/foul calls at all. But behind behind the mound is just too darn close."
  13. Too Italian…
  14. Only if this bothers you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zEKeGN8ZfE
  15. I have no idea what financial constraints Henry has put on Bloom, but we do know Henry is not very patient with teams that simply don't win. If he was, Cherington might still be the GM. These "tricky times" still have the Sox, amidst a "rebuild/reload" reaching the ALCS. It's extremely doubtful the team is going to double back and decide that because they are in the same division as Wander Franco and Bo Bichette, that the team needs to build the farm and wait this out. Now, I have no idea of Bloom will be handed the corporate credit card and given free reign, but I do have serious doubts he will do anything except try to improve on reaching the ALCS...
  16. So the former Blue Jay scout is prioritizing the former Blue Jay pitcher? To be fair, I doubt that means anything. Stroman is certainly not a bad choice, but I just like ERod better, and I think ERod will be easier to sign (assuming he gets a QO). But I will give Stroman credit because at least he knows how to cover first base...
  17. It's probably my second most frequent typo. My most frequent is "becasue", but that one at least gets caught by spell check software...
  18. Do large market teams really ever decide that they won't try to be competitive because another team in their division might be good? That seems like a foolish strategy, since it's not like you know they are going to be a lesser squad 2-3 years down the road...
  19. It is. But I will give MLB umps credit for being faster than NFL refs. I do think the whole baserunning thing is just going too far, although I have my doubts it will ever be addressed...
  20. Well, actually, yes. I mean, as long as we are suing unsupported counterarguments...
  21. He's not much different of a hitter than Schwarber and JD, at least over the last 3 years...
  22. At this point, you're spanning 5 seasons. Not many pitchers are the same pitcher they were 5 years ago. Frankly. I felt using 3 seasons and 4 years was pushing it...
  23. But it is still a reason to avoid him. Stroman is a lesser pitcher than ERod. Offer ERod the QO and, if possible, extend him. Once ERod gets the QO, his value is less to other teams as they lose a drat pick, unlike the Sox. Stroman does have the advantage of no QO attached, so his appeal will already be universal among teams that can afford him...
  24. Nick Castellanos has opted out of his deal with the Reds. does this put him in the DH argument if JD does opt out? Last 3 seasons: Castellanos: (30 on opening day): OPS+ 124 Martinez (34 on opening day): OPS+ 125 Schwarber (29 on opening day): OPS+ 126
  25. Stroman is not better at all. For their last 3 seasons (both pitchers missed 2020). Stroman: 8.1 bWAR/8.8fWAR Rodriguez: 10.9 bWAR/9.6 fWAR I'll take ERod over Stroman...
