  1. I used to call the career minor leaguer, usually someone like Chris Carter or Pedro Ciriaco, who had a flat out great spring and generated too much form chatter when they were clearly destined for (then) Pawtucket as “this year’s winner of the Jeff Bailey Award.” It’s probably time to name a few candidates for the JBA for 2022…
  2. Do you need a spot on accurate projection?
  3. Bradley isn’t going to be among the league leaders, but he absolutely will bounce back somewhat in 2022. That’s not even a prediction; it’s actually a statistical likelihood…
  4. And I agree he wasn’t mediocre. He was a very pleasant surprise. But so was Schwarber, who I agree with the OP was a monster. Just because he didn’t drive in runs from the leadoff spot doesn’t mean anything. Schwarber did everything the Sox needed him to offensively…
  5. The point is preseason evaluations, while not totally worthless, are not necessarily accurate either…
  6. Think Duran is on the bench? He’s a BA and MLB top 100 prospect. He needs to be playing if not in MLB then in Worcester…
  7. Dalbec was an absolute monster from mid-June until the end of the year…
  8. Ok, but you singled out Renfroe as someone the Sox wouldn’t have made the postseason without. Apparently everyone and not just Renfroe deserves that accolade…
  9. Hopefully they’re big enough for Arroyo to land on them when he trips. Hopefully they’re softer, too…
  10. Didn’t we feel this way in March last year? Heck I felt 2021 was going to be a looooong season after they opened up getting swept by Baltimore…
  11. The minor league contracts: 1. Don’t bump anyone off the 40 man roster 2. Typically require a player to earn their way to the parent club 3. Are extremely handy as injuries pile up 4. Don’t carry heavy long term commitments that limit future moves, and 5. Don’t affect the current payroll until necessary No one said anything about rebuilding the farm. But they’re not a gimmick; they’re a necessity
  12. Renfroe drive in 17% of all runners on base when he was up, which is very good. Schwarber only drove in 14%, which is about average. Of course, Schwarber excelled at being on base for others to drive in. Without anyone on base, Renfroe ain’t getting those 96 RBIs…
  13. Pretty sure you could say the same without Schwarber and his .957 OPS…
  14. Schwarber batted leadoff a lot. No one puts up RBIs batting leadoff…
  15. Renfroe had an .816 OPS. Schwarber had a .957 OPS for Boston. Schwarber was a much better weapon at the plate…
  16. He actually pulled it making that statement…
  17. The other Houck/Whitlock Taylor Barnes Brasier Sawamura Diekman Robles Strahm Davis D Hernandez
  18. Hey Wacha pitched 5 games against the Yankees and only alllowed a .458 OPSA
  19. He’s on an MiLB deal. Minor League Contract…
  20. And he’s on a minor league deal. Why is he even being mentioned with Correa?
  21. Houston gave up a 24yo power-hitting versatile infielder with minimal service time to acquire Graveman. Who did the Sox have as an equivalent?
  22. I know people really like to over emphasize postseason stats, but Robles threw 4 1/3 innings last year in the postseason. (I’m not counting his 1-2-3 inning vs NY, since I doubt you are either.)
  23. I think Bloom felt Wacha had some Pivetta in him…
  24. Rich Hill is old, but the dude has been really good the past few years…
