  1. Even without Sale, the Sox only got Whitlock and Eovaldi back in the past week and still have Wacha, Hill and Paxton due back (probably in that order). No point in selling anything…
  2. So… Clemson it is…
  3. I thought the AAV was a bit low. The thing is, a 15 year deal is crazy, but a lot less crazy if the player is 23…
  4. Not sure why FSB thinks his defense is so bad. His LF numbers are great, and even a -2.1 UZR/150 across 636 innings in RF isn’t anything I would call a weakness. If the Sox go with Duran in LF and Verdugo in RF, it’s not a horrible arrangement. Unless they fill out the OF with Franchy in CF. Then it’s a horrible arrangement…
  5. Not sure what you’re basing all this “his defense sucks” on. He’s second in MLB in UZR/150 this year. He’s above average in LF for his career and just below average for his career in RF…
  6. I doubt Verdugo goes anywhere. He’s also only 26. You don’t give up on a 26yo putting up respectable numbers…
  7. Even if you think Duran is in LF, there is still a massive gray area between “not starting” and “non-tender candidate”…
  8. First of all, we don’t have any other OF. But also, Dalbec is getting one, too. And he is taking some advantage. But mostly against LHP. I think it’s time to abandon the 1b platoon. Cordero is easily the worst defensive 1b in MLB and is no longer hitting enough to cover it. Dalbec isn’t Mattingly out there, but he is miles closer than Cordero…
  9. Seriously? If you think 26yo Verdugo - who makes $3.5 mill and might be looking at $5-6mill is a non-tender candidate, not sure what to say. Especially after advocating for a AAA outfielder…
  10. Yes. Are you going to continue to forget that we’ve been using Worcester’s rotation? The Sox shouldn’t give up on a 6 month season because of two bad weeks…
  11. Not really. We’re still missing 3 starting pitchers, the starting CF, and the starting SS, and Jake Diekman is making me miss Matt Barnes. Duran is slumping? Oh no!! Let him learn to hit his way out of it. No need to worry about the small fires…
  12. And so much for that…
  13. I had to run that through BTV. Overpay in terms of surplus value, but rejected due lack of a sufficient headliner. (And I had to eliminate Bruns because it doesn’t allow an infinite amount of players to be traded.) But in reality, Rizzo should be fired if he turned that deal down. Then he should be re-hired immediately just so he could be fired again…
  14. His contract was stupid. DD tried to get him at a discount due to an injury. And the injuries have been bad enough that Sale is no discount…
  15. That was my first impression. But I also wondered if he wasn’t protesting their annual dedication to a low payroll. Sort of “if you’re not going to make an effort to field a team, I’m not making every effort to play in every city” type thing…
  16. It’s not a penalty. These are people who fail to meet admission requirements for the country. Those same requirements apply to everyone and not just visiting ball players - accountants, biologists, chefs, all the way up through zydeco musicians…
  17. The team collectively itself does not choose. But the individual players on each team do. The point is there is no reason to punish the Blue Jays just because random players on other teams refuse to take proper preparations for this visit. And Whit Merrifield just added a whole new layer to this that can be interpreted multiple ways…
  18. The Sox are one game out of a wild card and just got Eovaldi and Sale back and people still think this team needs to sell?
  19. Despite everything, you and Bellhorn are selling me on Brasier. That’s impressive as my campaign against him spans several seasons…
  20. It wasn’t my offer…
  21. Those teams choose not to play at full strength. Whit Merrifield even said he’d get vaccinated “for a contender.”
  22. The Sox aren’t going to sell. They managed to stay in the playoff hunt despite going several weeks with the Polar Park starting rotation, and still have gotten more starts out of each of Austin Davis, Connor Seabold, Kutter Crawford and Brayan Bello than they’ve gotten from Chris Sale…
  23. Nope. You’ll go get Kyle Finnegan. And he’ll throw 35 IP the rest of the year with a 1.85 ERA…
  24. Well you have to understand, once he was able to get away from the intense media pressure of the Texas Rangers AAA Round Rock team and escape to the low profile, no scrutiny Yankees, he was able to relax and stop worrying about all that negative press. Or does he just quash that whole gigantic pile of BS?
  25. Hold the farm. Extend Devers. Let Soto go elsewhere. Trading for and extending Soto means no Devers extension. And Devers + whatever it takes to get Soto > Soto…
