  1. I fully expect to be…
  2. Absolutely. And ideally do so while keeping Whitlock in the crapshoot mitigation bullpen…
  3. Or the fact that the Phillies rode the worst bullpen of all the postseason teams into the World Series…
  4. It doesn’t eliminate it, but it does mitigate it…
  5. Well, he’s making player evaluations and completely ignoring batting averages and RBI!! Would ol’ Harry Frazee do that? Huh? Would he? You don’t see Harry Frazee ignoring batting average!! You know why? Because!!
  6. Did teams even make those moves back then? It’s easy to think those MiLB free agent moves were sprays there, but if you go back and look at the transactions from teams even in the late 1980s, B-R doesn’t have any MiLB deals…
  7. Downs’ leash just got a lot shorter. Ronaldo Hernandez is probably absent from this list. He’s future role is DH. One has to wonder how much more Dalbec the Sox will put up with, too…
  8. Perez and Pederson accepted QOs. Tyler Anderson signed with the Angels. That’s the list…
  9. They should release Brasier before hard-throwing lefties, soft-throwing righties, and December.
  10. He had been DFAd by the Pirates a couple days ago. The Sox clearly liked him. He plays lots of positions and showed excellent OBP skills in the minors, so I get it. But he’s not an impact player and no one thinks he is, including the FO..
  11. Is BA right in this guy is 5’ 151lbs? Or is that a typo?
  12. They can pitch. End of argument…
  13. Well, the Sox are very likely to sign a slew of players to MiLB contracts starting soon. You could act like each one was the sole focus of the front office and maybe even throw around the phrase “lightning in a bottle” a few times every time the Sox grab a 26yo minor league pitcher. The key to selling it is to de-emphasize the “minor league” aspect of the contract. In fact, never mention it at all and act like it’s a multiyear MLB deal…
  14. I think slow off-seasons are the norm these days. I don’t expect very many major moves until after the New Year…
  15. I don’t think they will give up on Darwinzon s quickly as you think. He’s 24 and still has options left. But Ort can go now…
  16. I wonder how many would think he was promising if they knew his fastball sat at 86-90mph. That’s not bad for an 18yo, but it’s not crazy uncommon either…
  17. Or… it’s only Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving, btw) and the off-season is rarely in any sort of motion yet anyway. Last year was a bizarre outlier because teams were rushing to make moves before the lockout. I do actually wonder if Rangers GM Chris Young started his lockout by reflecting on his flurry of moves and saying “Wait… I paid Corey Seager how much?”
  18. He’s saying the Sox would have grabbed Park with a Rule 5 pick, but instead decided to trade for him. I see what they like about him, but he’sa stretch to be anything more than a utility infielder and the Sox will probably try to sneak him (or Downs) through waivers at some point…
  19. Maybe the Red Sox know more about this guy than we do and just because he had a good ERA in 22 innings of the Dominican Summer League really doesn’t mean he has a future in MLB…
  20. Neither has anyone else. The biggest free agent names off the board so far are Tyler Anderson, Martin Perez and Joc Pederson…
  21. Or… he wouldn’t. Let’s say Seattle ranked those outfielders from worst to best. Then Duran would be ON TOP of their depth chart. That’s right. Numero Uno. It’s all about perspective. But if Seattle did that, suddenly that trade looks just a little better, doesn’t it?
  22. Not only did they trade for him, they publicly said he’s replacing Bogaerts!!! Or maybe they didn’t and he’s a guy that will struggle to hold a utility infielder position…
  23. If they DFA Ort, it’s worth it…
  24. Even Dave Dombrowski signed guys like Ryan LaMare, Brennan Boesch and Anthony Varvaro…
  25. Upgrade? Over Diekman, probably…
