  1. He was not. Espinoza’s best ranking was BA #19 in 2016. Kopech was BA #11 in 2018 and MLB.com #10 that same year…
  2. Apparently you mean “unless Kluber pitches to McGuire..
  3. Weren’t they? Both BA Top 20. And if they weren’t blue chippers, the Sox wouldn’t have been able to deal them for Sale…
  4. Not in San Diego, anyway. And why should it? Has any team from San Diego ever won any sort of title?
  5. I think Pudge Rodriguez and Joe Mauer could be on that list. The best All Around catchers today are probably JT Realmuto and Sean Murphy. With Adley Rutschman looking to climb that ladder fast…
  6. Aren’t the Sox playing well too?
  7. That happened one time. Just one game. Not sure why people even have an opinion on this yet..
  8. It’s actually almost literally a whole different set of pitchers…
  9. So… making a team entirely out of shortstops doesn’t work? That can’t be!
  10. I’m still on the “Mistake Not Keeping Graterol” mantra. But Wong might be able to make it look like less of one…
  11. Brewers. The Sox played the Brewers last night…
  12. It’s funny. If you look at McGuire’s Stat Cast numbers, he profiles similar to Vazquez. Similar arm strength. Similar pop up times. Similar Framing grades. No one complained about Vazquez as a defender. Some still seem to think his defense is missing. Because when McGuire does the same stuff, it’s just wrong now. StatCast does also say on these aspects of catching, Wong blows both Vazquez and McGuire away…
  13. I liked Bogaerts, too. And for Story money (or a tad more) I bring him back. There were stories that was what he wanted, but we will never actually know. (Players do sometimes say nonsensical things about their contract situation.) I don’t think Bloom saw him as the SS of the long term future. I could be wrong about that, too…
  14. All the more reason to just put him in a Bulk IP Role this year…
  15. The Sox are 5-3 in games in which Yu Chang starts at SS. 5-7 when anyone else does…
  16. Their efforts in that department are up for debate…
  17. Will they change the team name or ride the “A’s/Athletics” moniker into their 4th city. I think this might make them the most frequently relocated team of all time, once they do this and separate themselves from the Braves…
  18. That’s part of the reason. Also Smoltz wasn’t being paid $10mill with an option for 2024. If Kluber can turn it around, it could help next year’s team.
  19. They’re not going to pull the plug just yet. 10 starts minimum….
  20. Playing McGuire at DH creates a risky situation unless the Sox add a third catcher to the roster…
  21. Most of the league opted for hitting shortstops in the 1990’s, and players like Nomar, Jeter, ARod and Miguel Tejada were the stars. That wasn’t just a Sox Thing; many teams were doing it. (Technically they had Alex Gonzalez twice in 2006 and again in 2009.) Right now they don’t have an active SS who excels in either aspect. So while a glove-first guy might not be utmost on the minds of Sox’ fans, it’s still a step up. At this point in his career, Iglesias might only be a utility infielder. But with the Sox MI depth and injuries, it’s worth a shot…
  22. Entirely possible they’re simply asking the pitchers…
  23. The biggest issue with Iglesias is the Dodgers might also have interest. With Lux, Rojas, and Taylor all out they certainly have the need
  24. Get ‘em, Chaim!!
  25. Yes and when you’re 75-68, you are going to have some bad records against some teams…
