  1. See? That’s exactly what I said people eould do when(not if) Dombrowski outbid Breslow for Schwarber. Thanks for proving my point…
  2. Breslow wasn’t going to be allowed to outbid Dombrowski. Everyone knows it. And what everyone forgets is if the Sox landed Schwarber or Alonso, that makes it less likely the Sox get Contreras. Philly and Baltimore were still going to make moves…
  3. I use what you give me. At least I don’t make up what you say. And the full context from yesterday was what made you wrong. Sad you could not own your mistake.
  4. Like the 2021 Cubs that unloaded Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and Kris Bryant at the deadline, devastating their fans. In return that got a handful of fringey players like Caleb Killian, Alexander Canario and Kevin Alcantara. But they also managed to get Pete Crow-Armstrong (from the Mets for Baez) and that one hit made that whole firesale worthwhile eventually…
  5. True, I was hoping some of his childish behaviors last year would make him available. Reports varied on whether or not he was. Maybe the Sox should target Alex Freeland. The Dodgers have been dealing away high minors third baseman that quickly turn into All Stars with regularity lately…
  6. If the Sox trade for MLB players, I’d be hoping for a lot more than 1.5 years anyway. Pre-arb is ideal. But for the most part, contending teams won’t be trading starters off their MLB roster at the deadline. My number one target would be Matt Shaw, but doubtful any Sox package is enough. If Shaw is dealt, it’s more likely for Tarik Skubal than Sonny Gray and/or Chapman…
  7. I actually wanted Marte (2.0 bWAR), Paredes (2.0 bWAR) or Miguel Vargas (3.3 bWAR). But I’m happy with Durbin right now. Not so much as recently as May…
  8. Fair. While we have all seen this “miles apart” act from both sides before, it’s only impacted the season twice in the past 45 years. And not at all in the past 30, so I’m not worried. But things can change. I’m somewhat encouraged anout the amount of discussion in June. We have both seen people say things like “trading Chapman means giving up 2027 as well” or something similar. To me, that’s just crazy commentary…
  9. From you: “Most likely Cora, and players on the team were thinking what Raffy said.” If your counter argument is “that’s not the whole team,” it’s a weak comeback that ignores the point…
  10. No it doesn’t. Boston had a better 3b, too. All you’re doing is promoting diva behavior among players already being paid $30mill. Devers was a bad 3b. He needed to be moved. That’s reality. Cora knew this. Bregman is a very good 3b. Devers’ job is to play where he is told and bat where he is told. And Devers was not “justified” in any of his comments. If things don’t work out, thats on Breslow in this case (whether Breslow admits it or not). Management may not always make the right decision, but they are accountable for making the decisions, and Devers is not….
  11. Wow, you’ve stopped speaking for Cora and started speaking for the whole team. And why was Cora right not to ask?
  12. Wins and losses. There will be a season. No one wants to miss out and watch MLB lose fans to Jelle’s Marble Racing…
  13. I have my doubts about two more power bats. im assuming the Sox at most trade Chapman, Gray, Duran and Guerrero. So that leaves C: Narvaez? 1b: Contreras 2b: Mayer? 3b: Durbin SS: Story LF: Anthony CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: ? Certainly they can add a DH. They could add a catcher that can hit. Doubtful they have given up on Mayer, but a 2b upgrade is possible. But unless the catcher has power, i don’t see adding two power bats. And a leadoff hitter wuth good OBP would probably be more important…
  14. It’s a bit early to write off 2027 already…
  15. 1. Brendan Rogers can go. 2. Ward will hopefully be in Boston next April as the 4th outfielder/official ghost runner. 3. Gasper can go.
  16. And the insubordination thing is not speculation. Who cares if Cora asked? Devers himself said on camera he was not moving to 1b, he shouldn’t “have to play every position,” and it’s Breslow’s job to go get a replacement for the injured Casas. (In June, no less.) That’s NOT insubordination in your eyes? Yeah, just typical subordination, I guess…
  17. Including you, speculating Cora didn’t think Devers could play first. Immediately disproven in San Fran, where 1b is played the same way as it is in Boston…
  18. Bichette was the one guy worth signing. First of all, he actually is a very good hitter. Terrible fielder with no real position, but he can hit. Plus he’s only 28, and will be a free agent for the second time this winter when he walks away from the Mets and puts himself in a battle with Jazz Chisholm for top hitter on the FA market…
  19. But then when it fails, the cry is it was only for show. Just like with Soto…
  20. Yes, we get it. Schwarber can hit. Now explain how Dombrowski was going to be outbid for him…
  21. So we’re leasing with options to buy?
  22. No matter what he’s not likely to be in MLB next April. Worcester seems as good as anywhere for him…
  23. He might get 4 starts before the deadline. Even if he’s outstanding, don’t expect much back…
  24. If the Sox do sell, that’s fine. They can still have a rotation of Gray, Tolle, Bennett, Bello and Sandoval. And at some point, hopefully Crawford and Crochet return. If not, maybe we get our first look at Wehunt or Eyanson or a pitcher acquired from dealing Gray, Chapman, etc.
