  1. Ragans really doesn’t make sense for KC to give up. But the rest of their rotation is also a bit questionable or lacking control…
  2. Well, inept might be strong. I mean, Devers shouldn’t have been a bad contract they needed to move, at least not if you only consider his baseball talents. But also, I suppose that, while unlikely, a new ownership might give me ethical pause. I can’t imagine being excited and would most certainly have a moral dilemma cheering for the Sox if they were purchased by the Sinoloa Drug Cartel. But I can dial that back until it becomes closer to reality…
  3. I’m not thrilled with it, but I’m not as unrealistic as you are. But it’s December. Not even late December. Plenty of time left and just because two names you liked are off the board doesn’t mean it is over already. Especially since the Sox might have felt differently about them.
  4. Merrill Kelly? Sonny Gray d didnt go over; but Merrill Kelly is the answer? There are plenty of names left. Many folks gravitated to the biggest ones not named Tucker and thought that list was realistic and attainable, and ignored it created this hodgepodge of stat increases that didn’t necessarily improve the team. I thought Alonso made sense but not because he was good, but rather because he was more likely to come cheaper than Bregman. Not the best baseball reason, but folks are apparently thinking “we need right-handed power” and because Alonso regularly hits 35-40, he obviously fits and more so than Bregman and Marte. Sure he hits home runs, but so does Eugenio Suarez. And Ketel Marte has a better SLG from the right side…
  5. Very simple question - if you can be the top 3 or 4 in revenue while being 10-12 in payroll, what exactly is the incentive to change?
  6. But if it works, is it a big deal? It seems like there is a contingency of folks more obsessed with Henry spending than Henry financing a better team…
  7. The truly sad part is the 100% agreement than any new owner will be better, despite 20-25 current owners that spend less every year, and a league rampant with mercurial owners that shoot payroll through the roof one year, only to dial it back significantly the next. A new owner might not be the cure you all want; statistically a new owner is more likely to take everything you don’t like about Henry to an even greater extreme…
  8. I didn’t know they bumped up the World Series to mid-December this season…
  9. The sportswriters aren’t?!! Well, That’s an accurate gage. I mean, it’s not like they’re above writing clickbait articles that are infinitely more successful when they write bad news. One year ago, we were still roughly 10 weeks away from signing Bregman. And before they, it was these same posts all over again. We’ve all seen this before but some of us are not pretending we haven’t. Offseasons are slow, and they used to be much worse, and not that long ago. We’ve all seen this, but we still have people complaining for SIX WEEKS RUNNING about the lack of activity, which really means the lack of activities they want. Can I safely assume you’re also angry at Santa because your stocking is STILL EMPTY? Schwarber is a very good hitter with no defensive skills whatsoever Alonso is a one-trick pony. There are other options for the Sox, especially if folks focus solely on the 35-40 home runs a player might bring while conveniently forgetting about his other 500-530 at bats…
  10. I see no reason to continue throwing darts at Fred; he can dodge any point…
  11. Yeah, why read what people are asking….
  12. If you’re looking at payroll, players also have built in raises and other players have arbitration raises. It’s not as simple as “we don’t pay Devers’, Buehlers’ and Giolito’s salaries anymore, so they obviously have $70mill to spend just to be where they were last year.” It’s like all of the “we have to replace Bregman and Devers just to break even” nonsense…
  13. DFAing Hicks doesnt save any money. And what Hicks plus Anthony make is actually pretty close to Devers’ money, just not for as many years…
  14. So… Youre telling a guy who lives in the Bronx that you know Yankee fans better, and then following it up with a complain by about the Sox not found anything. Too many “wow” moments here…
  15. If only we had signed Akil Baddoo and stayed off that list!! Ok so far the Padres have signed Kyle Hart, Daison Acosta, and Tyler Adcock. Now in free agency they have lost Dylan Cease, Michael King, Luis Arraez, Nestor Cortes, Elias Díaz, and Jose Iglesias. But hey!! They spent money!! That’s all fans want!!
  16. Did anyone want Dustin May back? As for Polanco, he wasn’t the answer to what the Sox need. He was the answer to the question “who fits today?” Hes a sub-2 WAR infielder with decent offense and weak defense that a year from now, 50% of all trade posts will include the phrase “only if they take back Polanco”. I think far too many people care more about whether or not Henry spends than the team wins. They’re stockpiling young starting pitching at ridiculous levels. I would expect Duran isn’t the only name on the trading block …
  17. If you think Alonso was anything more than a convenient alternative, this conversation is over…
  18. Please never say that again. It screams of entitlement. His legacy is absolutely insured by 4 titles is 15 years for a franchise that only had 5 in their first century.. But appreciating his legacy and being satisfied with his work today are entirely separate things….
  19. Were Crochet and Bregman bad moves? Or Narvaez?
  20. Shaw. Matt Shaw Matt Bush is the former overall first pick that went from SS to prison to relief pitcher to retirement. Bregman would replace Nick Hoerner, who has one year left and is reportedly being shopped. Shaw would move to 2b
  21. Part of the reason the Sox look at players like Contreras and his $41.5 mill over the next 2 years is they believe that he can be acquired without giving up Mayer. Like Mayer or not, his chance of being a starter on the 2026 Red Sox are probably 95% or higher as of today. And Donovan doesn’t make giving up Mayer worth it…
  22. The farm system fell because of 1) promotions and 2) the Garrett Crochet trade. Also a little unfair to mention the only difference in team performance is “one playoff win.” I mean, they did make the postseason and they were not exactly on the cusp of that in 2022, 2023, and 2024…
  23. Marte is a much, much better hitter than Albso, and it isn’t close…
  24. It’s really weird how the Sox could be a top 7 offense, lose Bregman, and suddenly they’re 3 players short. Or is it 5?
  25. Maybe Seattle is uninterested in Suarez because they’re interested In Bregman..
