  1. They do periodic adjustments. At one point he was among the AL batting leaders with 5+ years of control. I doubt hegoes negative. At least not down to -12…
  2. … and purposely dumped tobacco spit on his own infant…
  3. Hardly. What if the new front office values Mayer and a few others less than Bloom did? Or decides Story has SS for the next 4 years? Or really, really likes Peralta?
  4. Totally depends on who they hire and what his budget is…
  5. And if Milwaukee insist on Rafaela?
  6. SP: Peralta (for Mayer/Rafaela) SP: Gray SP: Bello SP: Crawford SP: Sale/Pivetta (when Sale is out due to getting struck by a meteor or from a nasty narwhal bite or whatever) CL: Jansen RP: Martin RP: Winckowski RP: Houck RP: Whitlock RP: Schreiber RP: Bernardino RP: Pivetta (FA or MiLB call up for Sale injury) C: Wong 1b: Devers/Casas 2b: Urias 3b: Chapman SS: Story LF: Yoshida CF: Duran RF: Verdugo DH: Casas/Devers BN: McGuire BN: Reyes BN: Refsnyder BN: (Defensive CF - maybe Taylor?) Not wild about the OF defense in LF and CF. But it is a step up overall. If you don’t like this lineup, good news. Less than 1% chance of it happening…
  7. And throw in a Peralta with his 3.34 FIP…
  8. Last 3 years Gray 3.34 FIP Nola 3.35 FIP Snell 3.38 FIP That’s also the way I would expect to rank their contracts, starting with the cheapest…
  9. Ok worth pointing out Nola does possess a 3.35 FIP over that span. But over the same period of time, Sonny Gray has a 3.34 FIP. Gray will certainly be more expensive than what I would expect, but he will definitely be less expensive than Nola. Take Gray over Nola…
  10. I hope the Sox don’t go all in for two top tier pitchers this off-season. The short term rewards might be favorable, but at some point it absolutely with 100% certainly will become Price-Sale redux. And next thing the Sox will be pawning off Roman Anthony in a trade just to entice some team to take on Blake Snell’s contract…
  11. Not wild about Nola. I think he’s overrated. He certainly eats innings (567 IP and counting over the last 3 years), but his ERA+ over that span is 101. Granted, that a Philly defense isn’t doing him any favors…
  12. I am not so sure. Snell is 30 years old and his resume could include two Cy Young awards in the past 6 seasons. And he’s hitting free agency at a time when teams are extending deals to reduce AAV. I wouldn’t have put Brandon Nimmo down for 8 years last year at this time either.
  13. Not to mention what happens 5 years from now when these pitchers need to be replaced by new “aces” but can’t be moved because they still have 5 years $150mil left on their deals…
  14. Roughly the same as Boston has with either individual…
  15. And he didn’t have a Spring Training in 2022 either…
  16. If Milwaukee insisted on Rafaela (which there is a 100% chance they would over Duran), do you deal him for the 27yo pitcher or not? Per BTV, Nick Yorke is an acceptable substitute. Of course it Congress down to what Milwaukee wants
  17. I checked the rule book. It turns out they’re still allowed to bat if they play 1b and DH.. As for Story, later see what he’s like when he actually goes thru a Spring Training and a normal season…
  18. I’d make that trade. Milwaukee might, too. They’d at least consider it. Certainly losing Peralta is tough. But with Adames a year from free agency, they might not mind the insurance policy in Mayer. (Not sure about their SS prospects.). And Rafaela doesn’t need to fit in at any position. It odd two very good prospects to give up, but the Sox do need pitching
  19. Bloom did have ample opportunity to go get one for himself. Elvis Andrus didn’t sign anywhere for a long time and then took a contract from a team that made him switch positions. And Andrelton Simmons is still available…
  20. That’s because Dalbec couldn’t catch a cold if he was naked in a Norway. Devers will be fine at 1b. Book it. Maybe even watch it…
  21. Trades in May are usually for guys like Pablo Reyes (acquired May 12). Most teams don’t even know of their selling that early…
  22. Burnes has one year left. Alcantara and Cease are not available. But (I believe) the Brewers have final arb years from both Burnes and Woodruff. If so, it would not be surprising to see them deal one or both…
  23. Tyler Mahle
  24. He had a chance and did nothing, which is why I’ve been saying he should have been fired. He did absolutely nothing at two consecutive trade deadlines when the team was right there in the thick of things and really needed pitching help. Neither Eric Hosmer nor Luis Urias for that bill. Needing help beforehand, while true, don’t mean anyone else is necessarily willing to sell. You cannot make trades alone…
  25. That farm is already pretty clean…
