  1. RHPs throw them all the time. But because of the position the centerfield camera it doesn’t look that way…
  2. Extension = good Repeatedly trying to keep him in the rotation = bad. The definition of insanity might be applied here…
  3. So you think they should have avoided Story because of some high school kids they drafted (or in the case of Mayer, hadn’t drafted yet)? They’ll worry about that depth when it becomes an issue, like every team has done ever…
  4. … and Whitlock is having elbow issues…
  5. So Kenley Jansen is the Sox sole team rep for the All Star Game. Big kick to the head for Alex Verdugo, who absolutely deserved to be there (over Austin Hays, for example). Let’s see if Cora can channel his Inner Belichick and use this as a motivator for the second half…
  6. Looking ahead however, do you offer arbitration to a non-closing RP already making $6.5mill?
  7. The problem is Duran has been amazing this year. And it leaves very little room for Duvall…
  8. Last year almost 20% of the Sox losses were to the Blue Jays…
  9. Mayer is in AA. He’s not the MLB SS and may never be. If Rafaela moves to SS, it makes sense. Hamilton, While better than Kike, isn’t really a full time starter just yet. (And may never be one.)
  10. Nope. Against the law. Plus, Verdugo…
  11. I think holding Duran is a good choice, but to me it makes Ceddane Rafaela more expendable (unless he moves to SS)…
  12. I’d be all for that if there was anyone else who could start games…
  13. But you are too reliant on head fakes…
  14. And I’m not out on this year’s team yet. But I do hope any additions at the deadline are controlled for 2024 at a minimum…
  15. As the score was 7-5, that leeway was built into the situation…
  16. Attempts may have been made to do so. Only Bogaerts was reportedly told he wouldn’t be dealt, but I bet in the right deal, he would have…
  17. I don’t make typos. I spell artistically…
  18. I think it would be bad optics to hold on to Paxton after letting Eovaldi and Wacha walk. Although we really don’t know what the offer was to Eovaldi..
  19. Simple and effective. Dennis was good that way…
  20. Probably why he is my go to for insufferable Sox managers…
  21. I haven’t been a fan of Cora for much of the past two years, but that decision about walking Guerrero there is not so simple, and I’ve seen MLB managers handle similar situations both ways, and with mixed results. I walk Guerrero there. I prefer (with that Sox infield) taking the bat out of his hands and taking my chances with the lesser (but red hot) Chapman. I also don’t have much faith in the Sox offense taking advantage of extra innings. A tie might just equate to a loss here. But I agree about the winning run on base. That particular one was a tough call IMO with the names involved…
  22. Butch and Kerrigan were close. Kerrigan was clearly loathed by the players…
  23. Not to mention, I’m no fan of the whole “more than one way to skin a cat” metaphor. I mean: 1. How many ways do we need? Or has anyone ever needed? 2. Why would anyone ever want to anyway? Not to mention, the whole thing is a pretty disgusting result that even dog people would find revolting…
