1. Not sure what your point was beyond missing mine. Jad said all he cared about was following the star players. The gang was all there in 2019. Did that make it enjoyable? 2. Previous World Series followups are irrelevant. 3. And why just a casual mention of GAME SEVEN of the 2008 ALCS!? That was one of the most exciting LCS ever. Sox down 3 games to one and trailing 7-0 in the 7th inning of game 5 and NEARLY WON THE SERIES?!? That does fit your criteria for baseball excitement!?! What do you need? A fireworks display leading to a series of public executions where the axes all get swung by swimsuit models?

Trading doctrine for another pitcher that would have kept us within two games of the wild card would have been even better. Like I said, Bloom neither bought nor sold. I would have been ok with either commitment. If you’re buying, keeping Turner makes sense. But to do nothing was just inexcusable, and for the second year in a row is a good reason to fire Bloom. Passing up on one questionable trade is really not…

That was also selling. I would have been happier with selling than what abloom would up doing. I’d have made that trade, but let’s not pretend Cabrera is anything more than one of thousands of “raw stuff” guys who shows flashes of potential but ultimately struggles to stay in MLB…

Burnes is younger and has much less wear on his arm than Nola. Obviously risk depends on the human, but it does mitigate it somewhat.

More blown saves is going to be a trend, considering it’s not indicative of any sort of ninth inning failure. (Also a blown save isn’t necessarily a loss. What was the Sox record in those games?) We’ve seen pitchers get credited with blown saves as early as the fifth inning. In this day of reduced starter workload, 8 man bullpens, and the opener strategy, the blown save compared to previous years is a useless stat. Might as well compare DH numbers on NL teams from this year to those from 20 years ago…

The 1978 “collapse” is the most overblown story in the history of Boston sports. That team won 99 games, fifth most in franchise history and second most since 1946, played at a .525 clip while “collapsing” and were the team that actually had to come back to force the 163rd game.
