  1. 1. They really need a starter. They needed one last year, too, but couldn’t work anything out. Hopefully there was a lesson there. 2. OF is a surplus, and one can go. Keep Duran, Yoshida and Refsnyder. Move one of Duvall or Verdugo, especially if you’re not extending Verdugo 3. Turner is a gamer, but the Sox do need an upgrade at 2b. At one point, Bloom was talking about a LHH middle infielder, presumably to platoon with Arroyo. Potential candidates my weak and superficial research include Tony Kemp, Luis Guillorme and Harold Castro. Ji Hwan Bae was a candidate I overlooked. 4. Catcher is Wong/McGuire. Alfaro is a placeholder. Agreed. 5. Another arm for the bullpen should be a Deadline Standard for every team buying at the deadline.
  2. They’ll dump Reyes and hope he clears waivers. They’ll keep Chang in case Story gets hurt again…
  3. Invite us all down to Florida…
  4. So we saved you from that…
  5. I’m hoping Bloom isn’t as bipolar as the bulk of Internet forums. (Not this one, of course.)
  6. Oh yeah. We all forgot how much you liked her old earrings…
  7. Would you feel better if Devers moved to 1b and Casas (with his minimum wage salary) became DH?
  8. I think most of them see the addition of Hicks and not the subtraction of Romano…
  9. But can you see the Padres’ GM saying no to that?
  10. Did the Jays upgrade? They acquired oft-injured Jordan Hicks to replace injured Jordan Romano…
  11. No, but most of the others were good. Even the Scherzer trade worked out on their system…
  12. Last year, definitely. But Schwarber was certainly a big add in 2021…
  13. Civale to Tampa. I’d have liked to see Boston land the Northeastern product…
  14. And to think we gave up Kason Gabbard, who gave Texas dozens of good IP after that deal. I’m sure you recall whom I’m referring to; he kept referring to Epstein as “Guitar Boy”…
  15. There will always be fans upset with the outcome. I still recall one poster on the other unmentionable forum ripping Epstein’s move all throughout the 2007 postseason…
  16. Apparently I was mixing him up with Rafaela. At $15.3, the Sox are about $3.5mill short and should get another prospect in the $2-4mill surplus value range. Not likely to come from Oakland…
  17. Half full: He misses bats Half empty: He misses everything else as well
  18. My participation is limited to watching the team. I have enjoyed them so far. Barring a horrific unwatchable collapse, I’m ok with his job this year…
  19. I think they keep Duvall and give that OF a shot in 2024. Not like any player acquired for 2 months of Duvall is likely to significantly enhance the farm system…
  20. Last I checked it was close. Verdugo was $13.2mill. Blackburn was $10.3mill. Kemp was $1.5mill. That left $1.4mill under. Certainly getting a $1-2mill prospect as well is preferable, but there are so many players on every team in that range I usually just stop at the key players and acknowledge any small additions to balance it out…
  21. I am a Laureano fan. My only issues are 1. This doesn’t help with the OF logjam 2. The LHH MI need is still unfulfilled
  22. Bloom apparently feels there is a need for a LHH middle infielder, presumably to platoon at 2b with Arroyo. Among the definite selling teams, the most likely available LHH MI are Kemp, Luis Guillorme (Mets), Harold Castro (Rockies), and Ildemaro Vargas (Washington). Nicky Lopez was on my list but was since dealt to Atlanta. If this is a real need/addition, Kemp is a definite candidate. But if I’m right about usage, Harold Castro (.286 vs RHP, highest among these candidates) is the better fit. It’s a weak list, but Luis Guillorme is probably the actual best player…
  23. White Sox have said they’re not moving Cease. So any overpay would have to be impressive. Snell? I expect the Jordan Montgomery deal type of return…
  24. Because dealing Verdugo isn’t a season-ending strategy?
  25. Certainly possible. I always go for the best equivalent single prospect on that site when evaluating a deal. It’s kind of a worst case scenario. And most teams should prefer quality over quantity…
