  1. Maybe they’ll give you Willie Adames’ contract for them…
  2. Just ask Vic Wertz and Dusty Rhodes about the Polo Grounds…
  3. Duran was thumping the ball all over the park last night and ended up 0 for 4. Tonight he’ll probably hit two bloopers and a weak infield grounder and get 3 hits…
  4. And if it doesn’t, just trade your problem to the Giants…
  5. It also might be that right field in San Fran is a cavernous expanse that stretches all the way to the Pacific Ocean…
  6. It could be. It’s not like the veterans hit the ground running. Durbin never even met Bregman and he started off (and arguably still is) hitting poorly after a decent season last year…
  7. I think the stories about Bregman’s impact on Sox hitters is more of a statement about the Sox (now departed) coaching staff than it is about Bregman. There has been no mention of that side of him on the Cubs, and they are not without young players in their lineup…
  8. You’re never going to give up that it was the right call. Chisholm had plenty of time to see he had no play at 1b and still had a play at home. But maybe it’s time to acknowledge at best, that would have only tied the score…
  9. So teach Bennett to throw right-handed. Stop thinking inside the box! Or, activate Sandoval and go with SIX lefties…
  10. Given how well Devers accepted the move to DH, it doesn’t look like changing positions was something that Devers was open to. Cora appeared to know this, which could very well be why he was stand-off ish in the talks about DH and avoided the first base conversation altogether…
  11. For whatever reason, IKF was maybe 2-3 feet off the bag. At third base, the coach is RIGHT THERE. If it wasn’t some team philosophy, I’d think the third base coach would be saying “Take more steps! Take a bigger lead!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ALMIGHTY GET CLOSER TO HOME PLATE!!” But it didn’t look like he said anything…
  12. Yes. The only others that even have WS experience are IKF, Suarez, and, if he’s ever added, Tommy Kahnle. IKF would have a ring if he took a decent lead…
  13. My grandmother’s bridge club is 2 games under, so they might be the third wild card…
  14. His defense would serve better on the other side of the infield…
  15. I think he means he has faith in establidhed hitters lie Papi eventually coming around, as opposed to unknowns like Mayer. But with Mayer up to .688, where are all those Luke Keaschall supporters from a couple weeks ago?
  16. They do eventually decline. Bregman already is a far cry from the player he was in 2017-2019. Hes not going back to being that player…
  17. Would you feel different if Schneider didnt make that amazing catch?
  18. There’s a difference between justifying a weak move based on SSS, and saying “let’s at least see how this plays out.”
  19. Renfroe doesnt have 100 RBIs since that trade…
  20. Half his draft round was out of high school. Jackson Merrill was selected out of high school 23 picks after Mayer and is starting his third full season in MLB. Now THAT was super aggressive promotion, especially with his prospect rankings not as good as Mayer’s. Mayer should play everyday, preferably at SS. There will be growing pains we have to deal with. Thats part of life…
  21. Was Mayer really promoted super aggressively? 25 of the 36 players picked in his draft round have already debuted. I do agree on not platooning him and letting him take his lumps…
  22. According to Tom Verducci, most outfielders do those drills their entire career. Charging a grounder and picking it up with your proper foot forward without stutter-stepping and making a quick, strong throw back in is not as easy as some make it look…
  23. They don’t need to get all 5 outfielders into every game. This isn’t Little League. Bench one until someone else cools off…
