    So he faced 9,5,7, and 1 hitters. It w wasn’t just “against god hitters”; it was “getting going against good hitters.” And clearly it wasn’t equal since that first inning is always the 1-2-3 hitters. Also the teams that lit him up in the first inning were mostly ALEast teams very familiar with him. I think he can come back. This team needs an arm and overworking their bullpen stands to be more detrimental than a handful of Bello starts even if they all do go south..

    This myth has been debunked. But while I agree, MLB players are among the most superstitious grown ups on Earth, it doesn’t fit Bello, who is struggling in his famine outings and doing well out of his comfort zone…

    Are you sure? Perhaps he was just sharp enough for the 7-8-9 hitters he was facing. Also look at the teams that beat him up in the first inning. Baltimore, Toronto and… Baltimore again. Is it ever a mystery when the same team beats up the same pitcher twice?

    Is it? It looked to me like he simply needed an inning to get going and bring himself up to speed, as it were. In games he started, he spent those early pitches on the better hitters on the opponents, who took full advantage. In games he relieved, he bypassed the better parts of the opponents batting order. And since the openers in front of him were all completely ineffective and usually gave up multiple runs in the first inning themselves, Bello was able to get his s*** together against the 7-8-9 hitters for that first inning. Or the 8-9-1 hitters, you get the idea. Maybe he needs to prepare better before the game…

    Actually Brunson is fairly normal sized for the NBA. He’s just always really far away…

    I was watching the White Sox series with my daughter, and she made the interesting observation that the Red Sox might be the shortest team in MLB and probably the shortest team MLB has seen in a while. I don’t care about those fictional height listings, there is no way the following Red Sox players are 5’10” (which in itself s small by MLB standards): Ceddane Rafaela Caleb Durbin Sonny Gray Tsu-Che Cheng Masataka Yoshida Anthony Seigler Isaih Kiner-Falefa And I’m on the fence with Danny Coulombe and Connor Wong. They might actually both be towering figures looming over the masses at all of 5’10” tall. Thats a lot of bloody short kings on one team. Is this a coincidence? Or done on purpose for a reason, like the Sox clubhouse has low ceilings or the showers are only six feet up? A shortage of uniform pants so they encourage sharing?

    Platooning Abreu was always stupid. Refsnyder could hit LHP, but he was a terrible OF. That one hit per game he brought vs LHP was best matched with Yoshida in a platoon, not Abreu…

    Well, expecting any 8 WAR player to decline hardly requires psychic ability, but at some point, disappointment in not selling high shouldn’t rest solely on the belief that the other 29 GMs and CBOs are all impulsive morons. Safe bet all of them knew this was selling high as well…

    Unless it’s painfully obvious, I’m not. But this team is being carried by rookie pitchers to a far too great extent. I think pushing it this year hurts them next year. But I get why Breslow has to buy. And I fully expect him to do so. Relief arm, DH (hopefully better than Brett Harris) will be the focus. And I suppose a 2b if Seigler re-pumpkins before Mayer returns…

    I’d limit the damage unless some other team gets stupid. And even then, I’d be wary. The more holes Breslow creates, the more he has to fill in 2027. And until 2 weeks ago, many seemed to think this was among the worst MLB teams of all time and the entire roster should be dismantled, a process that NEVER works. Gray and Coulombe are no brainer because teams will need one or the other, and both are gone in 2027 anyway. IKF is the same, but will be harder to re-home. Duran because it already should have been already done, but honestly, it’s probably (re: definitely) selling low. If Breslow doesn’t pull the trigger, I could understand that. Chapman is straight up opportunism. He likely stays under control for 2027, but I’m ok replacing him since he is into that age range where many players just lose it quickly and without warning. He might still be elite in 2027, but I sell anyway. Beyond that, I hold…
