  1. The issue could be as simple as only having 62 PA..
  2. The problem with Stanton is the 75 games always appears more likely than the 30 home runs. He’s topped 114 games once since 2019, and his pro-rated 2020 season doesn’t come close. And he’s not likely to get healthier as he ages…
  3. To be fair, he only suggested where the ask starts, not where it gets negotiated to…
  4. And I think Cheng is this year’s Hoy Park!
  5. Plus his name is Zack and he doesn’t pitch. Is that even allowed?
  6. I’m thinking it’s more like: Durbin - 2b Story - SS Mayer/Kiner-Falefa - 3b If Cora doesn’t get to platoon someone, he gets the heebie jeebies. And with Romy potentially out, you just know he’s looking anywhere he can…
  7. And at what point does it become Alonso plus, say, Oviedo vs Contreras and Suarez? I have my doubts that the Sox sign Suarez if they bring back Bregman or sign Alonso…
  8. If the Sox get 30 fWAR out of Durbin in the 5 years before he hits free agency, you folks better damn well be “happy”. And by “happy” I mean building altars to Breslow and naming all your children Craig, including both your twin daughters. But if the Sox get 10-15 fWAR out of Durbin in the next 5 years, the trade was still good…
  9. That bullpen looks good, but that leaves the rotation with very little depth beyind the starting five, with just Oviedo, Early, Uberstine and Bennett. And Uberstine scares me, since I was not a huge fan of his work in AAA. Also his name sounds like a monster built from re-animated corpse tissue that was made for the purpose of driving me home…
  10. So bad he needs you to speak for him? Not playing Mayer at SS doesn’t mean he doesn’t think Mayer is ready or has any thoughts about whether or not Mayer can handle it, just like not speaking to Devers about playing first didn’t mean Cora did not think Devers could handle 1b. Usually when one of us suggests moving a player, it’s supported by bad defense. And rarely anything else. Devers was a really bad defensive 3b after all. Sort of a laughable theory that Cora wouldn’t move Devers to 1b because he didn’t think Devers could handle first base when it was already blatantly obvious Devers couldn’t handle third base. Story’s defense is definitely not what it once was, which is not surprising as he ages. Devers sucked at 3b. Casas sucks at 1b. Bogaerts had no range at SS. These are not opinions. They are facts that Cora chose to back burner, probably for reasons related to keeping players happy…
  11. This happens more often than many realize - extension for a player you think will be really good di you lock him up before he even debuts. Detroit did the same thing with Colt Keith, who is still in MLB (unlike Campbell) but is limited to platooning roles. Although some of that might be because AJ Hinch is overly dedicated to platooning. Something about those ex-Astros garbage can bangers, I guess. One can only assume Carlos Beltran would have overutilized the strategy as well…
  12. Yes, when it affects pinstripes…
  13. Or DHing without bitching?
  14. I doubt Cheng is long for the 40 man roster. DFA and hope he clears waivers. Eaton might find his roster spot in jeopardy now and I don’t think he has options…
  15. Again, the Cubs do have a BA Top 100 prospect in infielder James Triantos who struggled in AAA last year at age 22. They could easily pencil him in, especially if he does improve vs AAA pitching. No doubt they prefer Shaw, but theyre not dead without him…
  16. Well, last time Milwaukee had Hamilton they traded him away to get Hunter Renfroe…
  17. I’m not wild about Durbin, but I also figured Milwaukee wouldn’t trade him and would just phase Jett Williams in over Ortiz….
  18. If Devers had just said “of course I will cover first base while Triston is out like a normal teammate would,” he’d still be in Boston…
  19. Plus every MLB player before him named “Andruw” has gone on to a Hall of Fame career…
  20. But everybody can Shang Tsung tonight. (If I didn’t say it, 5Gold would have.)
  21. His numbers are brought down by a disastrous first half, too. His second half OPS of .839 at least created an argument for him…
