    Me too. I think they hold out for Arias. Arguing they wouldn’t take Arias because they have De Vries and Wilson is like saying “I know you owe me $50, but I need a $10bill, so just pay me that instead.”

    Your entire post was berating people for wanting to sell. So what? As the rare fan who spent the majority of the season still excited by this team, I do understand their disappointment. Prospects are all about hope. When the team isn’t good, they give fans something to look forward to. Now you’re against hope too?

    Early ($31.2mill) and Witherspoon ($11.8mill) is actually a perfect match on BTV. Id just be shocked if the Athletics settled for it…

    Again, they can trade Arias (or DeVries) for pitching. Having De Vries doesn’t change this. I’d rather do Mayer/Witherspoon plus. But the A’s have almost 2 1/2 years to get a better offer…

    De Vries will have no impact on wanting Arias. Just like already having (and extending) Jacob Wilson didn’t temper their interest in Dr Vries. They can trade Arias for even better pitching, and therefore not limit themselves to options within the Boston system. A good matchup on BTV is Mayer ($29.7mill) and Witherspoon ($11.8mill) plus some lesser prospect. Sure I prefer the latter, but I assume it takes Arias Would you deal Arias for Langeliers?

    Langeliers is an excellent fit. BTV gives Langeliers (with 2.4 yrs of control) a surplus value of $44.2 mill. BTV gives Franklin Arias a surplus value of $69 million. It’s not a match, but I don’t see the Athletics doing this deal without Arias. And acquiring de Vries last year will most definitely NOT have them looking at other prospects instead…

    Riley is unlikely to move, and those Astros are buyers per MLBTR. And Josh Bell really is an underrated hitter. I prefer Ty France, Steer, or Ward, but we could do worse.

    Thats not really 6 SPs. Ohtani’s roster spot doesn’t count towards the pitcher limits. Plus Snell and Glasnow can probably be combined into one injured pitcher. Gibing up May at a time when no more major league pitching could be acquired was risky. Or would have been if May could pitch…

    Are you comfortable giving that up? I think forget about Wood, whom Washington has no reason to trade and probably even less desire. Maybe someone like Bryan Reynolds makes more sense. Pitt is doing well and was buying last week, but maybe this is an opportunity for them to get out of the remaining 4 yrs $63mill on Reynolds’ contract. Not sure what they want. BTV suggests Witherspoon for a fair matchup, but Duran plus gives them a good “buy low” opportunity…

    Rumors abound for guys like Lindor and Abrams are reportedly available. Gleyber Torres might be. Bo Bichette most definitely. Every position player on the Reds except Elly de la Cruz and Sal Stewart. Spencer Steer makes a lot of sense for Boston. As for young, controllable star players - rarely ever is anyone…

    Can we let go of trading away Drohan? The White Sox selected him as Rule 5 pick in 2025 and returned him. It’s weird to me that many lack faith in Seigler because he is a 27yo late bloomer, but lament losing Drohan, who is 6 months older. And I’m perfectly fine with how Durbin and Seigler have turned out and think that Milwaukee trade is just one of those deals working out for both teams, which is how it’s supposed to be…

    Safe bet Washington prefers Tolle for the same reasons. Some pre-BTV logic - for a player likes James Wood, if you’re comfortable giving it up, it’s not enough…

    Mayer and Azocar?Looks BTV friendly but makes zero sense for KC. Also, I didn’t realize it, but the Royals extended Garcia, and in a team-friendly way. They’re extremely unlikely to trade him. They have only two players in their roster they’ve extended - him and Junior Witt. They Royals figure to be fielding offers for Wacha and Lane Thomas and maybe Schreiber, Massey and Pasquantino, etc. . But they likely build around Witt, Garcia, Carter Jensen and Jac Caglianone…
