  1. My question is - would people prefer Yoshida go off in the WBC so the Sox can trade him? Or because he could help the Sox win more games?
  2. I bet the Sox cannot dump that contract..
  3. And put a cold day in the middle of August?!? Actually, might not be a bad idea…
  4. It’s why he does yet need a clear path to playing time…
  5. As a batter? Sure. But what about as a guy who isn’t going to injure himself performing mundane baseball activities?
  6. His bWAR is trending down as his games trend down from 130 to 60 to 30. You can’t get wins if you don’t play…
  7. Because who didn’t live a post-season lineup with Sogard, Gonzalez and Eaton? Keeping Yoshida does make senses, despite my suspicion Breslow prefer not have him…
  8. Right. They should start cutting people. Get down to 3 outfielders. That way, if one gets hurt we still have two!! But more important, it frees up bench spots for mediocre multi-position players every fan wants to see more of!! Who didn’t get hit and bothered when Ed Jurak was in the lineup? And don’t get me started on Luis Rivera…
  9. I know, huh? Baserunners! When will this team learn?
  10. I think Campbell will be better, but is he? Romy has a career OPS + of 102; Yoshida has a 109. Hopefully Durbin will be. But so far he has but one season under his belt to assess him on…
  11. It’s got nothing to do with team building. Do players get hurt because of poor roster construction? Would fewer get hurt if they wore their hard hats? Know what’s bad team building? Dealing away your depth for no reason then realizing you need it…
  12. Except that most of those guys are much worse hitters…
  13. If Yoshida declines a demotion, he cannot be demoted. Money only enters the picture if they DFA/release him. Then, yes, since he will go unclaimed, Boston will be on the hook for 100% of his salary until he signs elsewhere. At that point, the signing team pays the league minimum and Boston pays the balance…
  14. Agree. Not sure what the problem is. If they trade or DFA Yoshida, what’s the benefit? More playing time for Nate Eaton?
  15. As it stands, Yoshida would be the bench OF. The Sox four man bench beyond him is likely IKF, Monasterio (eventually Romy), and Wong..,
  16. It was a sad, sad day on here when DD selected Song, if only because I was the Voice of Reason…
  17. No rush there since we don’t need him yet and actually have kind of a starting crunch. At some point he will be back, and likely after a few injuries have cleared a path to playing time…
  18. Cross fingers? Never a good strategy. Right now, Yoshida is depth, and that’s a good thing to have. By the time Casas is ready to activate, someone else will probably already be injured.
  19. Masa would DH and push Duran to the field. This isn’t rocket surgery. Also Eaton’s arm is well above average. Top five among all outfielders in MLB easily…
  20. Thats only one part of a bench player’s job, and IKF can do that. Yoshida is a better option than Eaton’s for giving outfielders a day off and a better long term replace than Eaton should someone get hurt…
  21. I think Guerrero is more likely to pitch for the KBO Doosan Bears than the Boston Red Sox,,,
  22. While I’ve never credited him with prodigious power, I have ALWAYS insisted the man can hit. Hold on to him, Craig. Hes a better option than Eaton…
  23. Guerrero is Worcester material at best. Hes not some undiscovered gem but rather a guy a few teams have tried and failed to straighten out…
  24. The Sox didn’t acquire Gray because they had Fitts; they acquired Gray because St. Louis wanted to move as much money as possible. If another team was willing to assume more money, they would have easily acquired Gray and probably parted with a lesser pitcher…
  25. The Brewers won the most games in MLB playing a very aggressive version of small ball. It works best when done correctly, regardless of whether or not the opponent is doing it…
