    Why? Schlitter wasn’t even the best pitcher on his team at Northeastern, which isn’t a school that pumps out athletes. Plus after being drafted in the 7th round, Schlitter made exactly ZERO Top 100 prospect lists. Never ranked by BA, MLB.com or Baseball Prospectus. He came out of nowhere, sort of like Bello did in Boston…

    He never had to say anything. And he certainly could say “I want out” and not be among the first 10,000 players to do so. Is that really a negotiating tool for Trout? That sounds like what Trout should be offering Boston in the negotiations. If Trout had an option to be picked up or anything similar, THAT would be Boston’s negotiating tool. Or an extension, which would be insane as Trout still has 4 years and about $145mill left on his contract already.

    Devers is going to hit, and Boston misses his bat today. Maybe April and May we’re just two bad months, but if they’re any indication of his future, that contract will look horrible FAST and Boston will be better off without him. Especially if he maintains his selfish d-bag attitude every time he gets asked to help his team…

    He has a no trade clause and no options that can be bought out to entice him, plus SF struggles to land feee agents and are probably a tad reluctant to trade away the ones they do sign as it might dilute their market appeal to both their fans and other potential free agents. I think they refuse to discuss Adames for now and then go on to regret not making him available 3 years from now when he’s a range-less SS incapable of defending his position and his offense has started tapering off towards mediocrity, but remains in the top tier in just one category - salary…

    Doubtful the Sox want a catcher for Wong. Adell eould be a RHH DH platoon maybe? I think the best place for a bat is the INF. The Sox right now have Mayer, Durbin and IKF. And since part of this improvement is benching someone, those are better candidates….

    I think by “right handed bats”, the Sox would prefer someone capable of making an offensive impact from the right side, not just someone that uses the right-handed batters box. Considering the Sox could have had Ketel Marte for Mayer 3 months ago, unlikely they have decided to give up and surrender him for another hopeful project that just happens to bat right-handed…
