  1. It’s not that he is done spending on the bullpen; he just isn’t chasing longer 8 figure deals right now. MLBTR reported the Sox only offered Kelly 2 years and a lower AAV than Los Angeles, and commented that this does lend support to earlier reports about DD not spending heavy on relievers...
  2. Mostly because the Yankees have already acquired or re-acquired 3 starters already this off-season and none of them have options. Couple that with two returning starters. Of course they still can trade Paxton or Severino in another move...
  3. I get that BVW is new to this GM thing, but the Cano trade screamed “We’re NOT rebuilding!!” loud enough to be heard at both poles simultaneously....
  4. I’m still operating on my theory that the White Sox wanted to get rid of Sale. I see no equivalent reason why the Mets would want to unload Syndergaard. Therefore, you have to really twist BVW’s arm to get him. And there is also the BVW factor. The guy is new to the GM game and his hiring was widely questioned. Think it makes sense for him to unload one of his best and most popular player for a prospect rebuild package? This team just acquired Robinson Cano. They aren’t sending Thor anywhere, except maybe Westeros...
  5. Again, not so much the Mets marketing him as it is other teams asking for him. He’s a first year arb 5 fWAR pitcher. What team couldn’t use that? If the Mets do trade him, the return package should dwarf what the Sox gave up for Sale....
  6. It’s not. If the team is that strapped against the budget, maybe Eovaldi wasn’t the best idea...
  7. If his stock plummets. But if DD is going really cheap, I’d think Allen is out of his range,.,
  8. Some candidates might include: Hunter Strickland Sergio Romo Brad Boxberger Ryan Madsen Brad Brach Brandon Maurer Blake Parker Greg Holland Jim Johnson Matt Bush Any others?
  9. Sandy Leon leading off then!!
  10. So how exactly does the AAA phase of the Rule 5 draft work?
  11. While true, that doesn't change the fact that the Mets can get players like that anywhere and keep Wheeler. The Mets certainly have a minor league pitcher or two they can call up who would give them more fWAR over 6 years than Wheeler gives them in one year. Why would they deal a very good starting pitcher to get a 27yo out-of-options pitcher with one meh season under his belt? Johnson and Swihart are nothing special. I'm not saying the Mets couldn't use Swihart and Johnson. But I am saying they won't deal their third best starting pitcher to get them...
  12. Yeah but that trade dies because they didn't want to include Syndegaard. Miami even tweeted that they need to send Syndegaard to the Yankees or the Marlins were going to deal Realmuti to a competitor. There's a link to that tween buried somewhere on these boards. If anything, the Mets seem hellbent on keeping Syndegaard...
  13. Did you say something?
  14. Which means I'm the forum leader, right?
  15. Did they ever announce that? Or is his name being thrown around because other teams keep asking for him?
  16. In 34 IP. Don’t forget that part...
  17. Syndergaard is typically worth about 5 fWAR per season. ERod is usually worth closer to 2.5 fWAR. And even going beyond advanced metrics, Syndergaard is much, much better...
  18. I don’t think the Mets are hellbent on trading Syndergaard. In fact, it looks like their refusal to part with Syndergaard was the big hold up in that three-team Realmuto trade...
  19. For Swihart and Johnson, Robert Gsellman might be more realistic than Wheeler...
  20. It's not official yet... https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/12/dodgers-close-to-deal-with-joe-kelly.html
  21. I don’t see the Mets going for that. And the Sox need to target relievers anyway...
  22. Just more Gorkys-mania...
  23. That’s because they’re not a couple...
  24. I imagine the entire hold up is Happ wanting the third year guaranteed...
