  1. I’m predicting his next deal is similar to Molan Arenado’s deal - neighborhood of 8 years / $260mill...
  2. On what day can my 12yo daughter’s softball team beat the Yankees?
  3. But has he implied it?
  4. It’s fair. He’s never expressed much in the way of fandom for me either...
  5. It is, and it’s done to fool the umpire. But it’s still on the umpire to get it right...
  6. I was never a fan...
  7. At the very least, be prepared for a few 4 1/2 hour games with an average of about 9 pitching changes each...
  8. In the event of any injuries, it becomes possible. Unless we have the next Jeff McNeil down in Pawtucket...
  9. I believe you are referring to Tommy Pham, who does have a good power/speed combo like Mookie. But he is also 4 1/2 years older than Betts...
  10. I think between Marco Hernandez and Tzu-Wei Lin, the Sox do have the utility infielder role covered. They also have defensive whiz kid Jeremy Rivera to cover 2b/3b/SS if need be. It would be nice to get an actual fourth OF, but the best internal candidates are probably Cole Sturgeon and Tate Matheny. Notice how I did not say "Gorkys". Bottom line: The Sox can probably build their bench internally for little to no money. This might be very important financially, but can have an obvious and potentially severe drawback...
  11. The option for next season as the intriguing part...
  12. It just shows how unprepared DD is. He didn’t even have a expensive reliever to release so he could clear money for a weak side platoon for JBJ...
  13. I could see non-tendering him because it might be possible to replace him with minor league arms like like Tanner Houck or Travis Lakins for less money. I could see tendering him because he will likely be about $2mill or so and free agent relievers will cost more.
  14. Even if you had the numbers, it’s probably a small and irrelevant sample size against minor league southpaws over one season. Gorkys has had significant MLB experience. And in that experience, he had limited success against MLB LHP to the tune of a .615 OPS. Of course, this is also a limited sample size of 420 PA spread out over 8 years. But the fact that the 31yo Hernandez was kept off the field vs LHP so much in the past 8 seasons also says something...
  15. You think Hembree is tendered a contract? Tough call for me. There are two clear sides that have a good argument...
  16. You’re kidding, right? Maybe because not everybody is hitting the ball equally hard? Maybe because not every player has equal line drive rates? Maybe because a juiced ball can increase the likelihood of barrel contact but can’t force the hitter to make it?
  17. No but you’re close. They’re clearly underinflating the baseballs. We just need to know how. And why. And who “they” are...
  18. Right. Juiced balls only lead to home runs. Not harder hit lines drives and absolutely no increased exit velocity. Just home runs!!
  19. Still clinging to the one scouting ranking that has Deivi Garcia in the top 25? Everyone else has him outside of the top 60, which makes him A LOT closer to Casas than the names you seem to think he belongs with...
  20. But how does that compare to other farms? Bear in mind, the professional organizations saying the Sox have the worst farm aren't saying "No Major Leaguers!! Ever!!" They're saying "29 other teams have a really good chance at having more and/or better major league talent in their farm systems than Boston does."
  21. Johnson has been up and down for 3 years now, unable to stick anywhere or stay healthy. He wouldn’t even have pitched as many MLB innings as he did if he had any options left. The only thing he has going for him is that he’s here. Head case or not, he’s really not an MLB-caliber pitcher...
  22. The Yankees might have a better farm, but not much of a track record for producing major leaguers. And their current farm is actually uninspiring....
  23. Yeah...ummmm... no. Age matters...
  24. Did you also like his bit about ERod's trade value being influenced by Mookie's performance? Not to mention, for all the negative comments about the Sox farm and the positive glowing reviews about the Yankee farm, let's just stop and spot check some rosters here. Number of Yankee drafted/developed farm products on current roster: 3 (And that's counting Brett Gardner, who graduated what, 25 years ago.) Equal to the number of Red Sox farm system products in the outfield alone... The Sox farm system might be down now, but at least it produced something recently...
  25. Not to mention, I would think a Yankee fan would recognize that you can win without a starting rotation...
