  1. Of course you have to find a way to negate the contributions of Steve Pearce...
  2. While Martinez should not opt out, you might be underestimating the spending power of the White Sox, a team that budgeted close to $300mill for Manny Machado and friends...
  3. Sure getting a high first rounder helps. Assuming you don’t draft a bust, and work with him properly. And then in 3-5 years you have a player!!! If the Sox are rebuilding, the draft is NOT the way to go. Oh they have to do it and do it right. But it’s too long of a process. I’m not sure what Mookie might bring back (and I wouldn’t start by dealing him), but a year of him might be worth more than 3 months of Aroldis Chapman. ERod isn’t the Sox most useful chip, FYI. Devers is. Followed by Benintendi...
  4. Whatever. There were plenty of people out here who couldn’t believe anyone put any faith in 30IP from Brasier...
  5. If the Sox are going to rebuild the farm, it's not going to be through the draft...
  6. So its going to be a home game?
  7. Whether or not this works out, at least DD finally did something. It’s good to see he finally saw a free agent pitcher he liked as much as he liked Chris Owings...
  8. Right. Just win as often as possible and know you won’t win them all...
  9. Is there someone out there in denial and arguing that Bradley didn’t get $8.5mill in his third arb year? I thought that was settled. Now his fourth arb year is another matter. You know, since you go out of your way to fix all my mistakes
  10. "Overpaid" when they retire is one thing. $35mill per year is another. Do multiple players really each need to make more than the Gross Domestic Product of Tuvalu ?
  11. It's good to see DD interested in baseball again...
  12. His brother might have been the ugliest player ever...
  13. The players aren’t exactly struggling to put food on the table themselves...
  14. I'm saving my pocket change now, just in case...
  15. To some degree, we’ve never seen this before. Aquino broke the record for fewest games to 12 home runs.
  16. If I was a Yankee fan, I still wouldn’t be upset about that deal. They needed a 1b, not more bullpen help...
  17. ... which is why Boras will advise him to not opt out this off-season...
  18. Yeah Voit’s been a real downer. He did what you needed him to do - make everybody forget about Greg Bird...
  19. Except that non-pitcher makes has an AAV $8mill lower. If Price bounces back, it’s a horrible deal. But if Price continues to decline, they’d be better off replacing. $8mill alone won’t do that, but it at least creates a bigger headroom in the budget...
  20. I would expect him to next off-season. It would probably be in the Sox best interest for him to opt out this year. They’re still the most likely team to sign him and they could get him at a lower AAV for more years. Maybe a 4 year $76mill contract? That essentially gets Martinez one extra year for $15mill.
  21. 14 home runs in 28 games and 92 at bats. If a fire is burning insanely hot compared to others, that fire is now said to be as hot as Aristides Aquino...
  22. I think I mind that he emptied the farm less than I mind the denial about it...
  23. I think DD has run his course...
  24. Did you read Nick's post? "We talk constantly about 'emptying out the farm'. Who have we lost really? Can the traded players start for us? You don't think for Sale giving up Kopech and Moncada was a bad trade? Is it now a bad trade because of Sale's new contract? That's not the trade's fault. Have you looked at what our roster would look like with the players traded away?"
  25. I will call it a lock that he is better than Brian Johnson or any other internal option the Sox have for 2020...
