  1. Well, again, when you have “anonymous sources”, you can cite any number of them without question. At least Fiers went public with his own name. For example, I have FOUR “anonymous sources” that say the Yankees used a similar scheme. Couple that with their previous punishment and that they employed a previous cheater, and throw the data around, the Cora implication and London games, things look just as bad for the Yankees. Maybe worse. And the whole “bench coach” thing is grasping at straws. Did Beltran ever attend a team meeting? That’s all he needed to explain the scheme.
  2. Or took Price or Eovaldi?
  3. The simulator likes a trade of Betts and Price for Myers, Campusano, Cronenworth, Quantrill and Franchy Cordero. It also like Betts and Eovaldi for Myers, Campusano, Cronenworth, Grisham, Quantrill, and Naylor (or $18mill)...
  4. Who are they? As long as these sources remain anonymous, it seems like any number of them can say any number of things. I don’t like anonymous sources as the sole form of “proof”. Of course, they presumably have made themselves known to Manfred. If it’s still a number greater than one...
  5. I don’t think MLB is going to go confiscating acquired assets. You better hope not. The Yankees, like Boston, have already been punished once, and employed one of the named conspirators...
  6. It’d be better if the Sox could get Gore or Patino...
  7. Yeah he’s no CC Sabathia Or is he? Sabathia (ages 31-33): 68 GS 97ERA+ Price (ages 31-33) 63 GS 118ERA+ Sabathia (ages 34-38) 118GS 104ERA+ It wouldn’t be unheard of for Price to recover. And possibly improve...
  8. Heck he took it last winter...
  9. Much like with the Red Sox, this might be evidence of sign stealing. But that doesn’t make it evidence of electronic sign stealing...
  10. Well, that’s because with your high school girlfriend, there was already another guy on second... (Unless you married her.)
  11. There you go. As long as they can time their injuries properly...
  12. An inflatable dinosaur costume?
  13. You don't want that level of rebuild. Look at the Marlins. They traded back-to-back NL MVP's and got essentially nothing for them...
  14. If Puig is too crazy or too expensive or both, another option would be trying to get Billy Hamilton on a cheap deal. But at that point I just gamble on Puello...
  15. I think Bloom keeps it simple (“Gee, thanks for the astute observation, Captain Obvious”) and just goes for some depth pieces and a cheap LHH 1b for a part time platoon with Chavis. Thinking Greg Bird. (Not my choice here,) At some point I’d stock up on some SP depth and get a fourth OF. But we’ll see...
  16. Eovaldi has one major drawback in that he's never healthy. But you might be the happy one if you want both...
  17. I will take the next 3 years of Price at $96mill over the next 3 years of Eovaldi at $51mill.
  18. But you do prefer Logan Allen over Kimbrel? Also, Beeks was better than Eovaldi last year...
  19. Oh all that and probably lots more. But he is also a mega talented player when healthy with a monstrous Fenway swing and a throwing cannon that makes Jackie Bradley look like Johnny Damon trying to throw with his weak arm.
  20. Eh. It's not like we have been drafting very well anyway. Since 2012, the only Sox first and second rounders to even make the majors are Benintendi, Chavis, Sam Travis, and Michael Kopech, The first and second round in 2012 did produce 4 future major leaguers, but they were Deven Marrero, Brian Johnson, Pat Light, and Jamie Callahan. Not going to miss them. And that's top rounds of the last 9 drafts in a nutshell...
  21. Hey, it's like that everywhere I've worked in my life. Any problem that arises after someone leaves was clearly all his or her fault. You can use that one for a good 4 months...
  22. Exactly what is the analysis you think is paralyzing them? The high asking price for Price/Betts simply means they prefer to keep both, but can be bought if an offer arises. I think the paralysis is financial. The problem with trading Price (the preferred departure) is in the long run, that probably nets nothing in the way of a salary cut. The problem with trading Betts is it makes competing more difficult. Henry has made mutliple contradicting statements that basically all point to cutting costs. The paralysis is a financial one...
  23. I'm fine with it, too. Although trading for Odor might be going to far. Hellickson can just sign another MiLB deal and come up when Eovaldi gets hurt...
  24. He's not a great defender. He might be able to switch to 1B where his glove is less of a liability.
  25. I'm telling you. 4 moves 1. Trade Bradley for Jake Lamb. The Diamndibacks depth chart lists Ketel Marte as starting at both 2B and CF. Lamb is their backup 1B/3B and makes $5mill. But he crushes RHP when healthy. This trde does make sense for both teams. 2. Sign Yasiel Puig. If he accepts the MLBTR prediction of 1 year $8mill, he becomes a wild card gamble who could either carry or kill this team. 3. Sign Jeremy Hellickson. 4. Sign Cesar Puello. The Sox will need a 4th outfielder/Puig insurance. Puello's defensive metrics are outstanding for his limited time. If he can maintain them in the event Puig goes nuts, it will be worth it. 5. Trade Eovaldi for Rougned Odor. (Optional move.) Bad contract swap. Odor can play 2B and swat home runs. This move likely means Tzu-Wei Lin struggles for a roster spot. If Puig was more stable, Lin could just be the 4th outfielder seeing limited action. Or maybe Puello signs a MiLB deal. The Sox would have to DFA 3 players, Ryan Weber is the obvious one. Chris Mazza, Matt Hall, and Jeffrey Springs are also at risk. (And I would put Ryan Brasier in this category as well.) Boom. Holes filled. And I think the Sox cut about $7mill towards the cap as well.
