  1. Very possible. But let's have them found guilty first...
  2. I actually think Odor is a little better than Myers, and Odor plays a position the Sox currently have manned by the winner of the Peraza/Lin/Hernandez/Chavis battle. He's an out machine, but he also has hit 30+ home runs 3 of the past 4 seasons...
  3. Might be more feasible if we still had Logan Allen or Michael Kopech or Jalen Beeks. Or anyone who could pitch at the MLB level...
  4. A straight up Myers/Price swap
  5. The Padres would be stupid to turn that deal down. But it’s not as good for the Sox...
  6. Chuckle away, but who replaces Price in the rotation? You might not like him, but he was worth 2.3 fWAR last season and 2.4 fWAR the year before. You ain’t gettin’ that outta Mike Shawaryn. I’d sooner deal Eovaldi, since you need a replacement for him whether you trade him or not...
  7. Rougned Odor is another pretty good one. He’s owed $37mill over the next 3 years on a contract with an $8.25mill AAV. He also isn’t very good at baseball, but he’s much better than Myers...
  8. The $17mill savings in AAV. It’s one of the more realistic salary dumps in a Price trade. It’s certainly not for his baseball skill set
  9. I certainly don’t consider Boston firing him an admission of guilt. The Mets fired Beltran for even less...
  10. I did. As geriatric players go, these weren’t the two most exciting names on my mind...
  11. All of this is predicated on the Sox being guilty. That might be the case, but it also might not. That the Sox have not talked to any external candidates that we know of and were last rumored to only be looking internally makes me think this “scandal” is having minimal impact on their search and Cora was fired as a PR move...
  12. St. Louis has a couple bad contracts with NTC’s they going to struggle to move. Carpenter is another...
  13. The simulator does not account for no trade clauses, like Fowler’s...
  14. Would you have preferred watching the 25 yo guys who weren’t good enough to take their jobs?
  15. Longevity is underrated, if anything. In a game where younger players and “next great things” are coming up every year, the ability to fend them off and keep your job should not be so casually overlooked...
  16. Not a bad trade. Simulator gives it a $12mill surplus advantage to Philly.
  17. That’s not his salary. His trade value is roughly his projected fWAR dollars minus his salary, with some other details (such as the draft pick comp you get from a Mookie). But he will make $27mill this year, which he will get paid. In cash. After every game...
  18. I agree. Or even a few prospects...
  19. I think it always was. Trading a $27mill salary is rarely easy...
  20. One somewhat awful deal that does everything for Boston is to trade Betts and Price plus $21mill for Gonsolin, Joc Pederson, and 28yo Cuban RHP Yasiel Sierra (owed $13mill through 2021 with a $6mill AAV) This move would allow for an easy reset as it clears about $38 mill off the tax number. It does leave the Sox exposed vs LHP with both Bradley and Pederson starting in the OF. But this is where Bloom’s plan of hoarding every available LHP shows it’s true logic...
  21. Well, the point is to remember it’s January 22nd and deals certainly happen later than today...
  22. That’s what everyone thought about Kimbrel at the beginning of April, 2015...
  23. If they trade Mookie, they can probably sign Puig for less than what Rusney makes...
