  1. As I’ve said before, if the Dodgers were willing to part with Lux, Lindor would be a Dodger...
  2. We all get Betts is arguably the second best player in MLB. And yes he is better at baseball than anyone on the Dodgers’ roster. Probably better than any Dodger position player since Jackie Robinson. But that doesn’t mean that salary and control go out the window in a trade. Especially since Betts will spend 2020 as one of the highest paid players in the league. And no matter how many times you try to make people ignore money and years, it will never be reality. So if Bloom ever actually does trade Betts to LA, you will definitely be disappointed after your unrealistic expectations like “we get Lux and May and Mookie back for August”. Those expecting years and money to matter will be les disappointed. Or possibly -pleased...
  3. Are the Titans really looking for a QB? They seem to have struck low budget gold with Tannehill...
  4. If he signs with the Raiders, as suggested in the OP, then maybe they can take his Tuck Rule picture off the cover of their playbook...
  5. The Mets signed Mountain Matt Adams to a minor league deal. Adams was one of the names I thought would be an upgrade over Moreland. Granted, not a huge one as Adams career OPS vs RHP (.816) isn't substantially higher than Moreland's (.789). But he was cheaper. Also he is 3 years younger...
  6. No mention of Brad Gulden? From his B-R page: November 18, 1980: Traded by the New York Yankees with $150,000 to the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later and Larry Milbourne. The Seattle Mariners sent Brad Gulden (May 18, 1981) to the New York Yankees to complete the trade.
  7. There have been a couple fun cases in MLB history where the PTBNL was the original player traded, effectively meaning these players were traded for themselves (Harry Chiti, Dickie Noles, Brad Gulden and former Providence College and Red Sox SS John McDonald). Rob Ducey was part of two seperate PTBNL trades between the Blue Jays and Phillies in 2000, but he was not actually traded for himself, despite being reported otherwise by ESPN at the time...
  8. Chavis did at first, but he slowed down immensely. Now, he could go absolutely off this year and make the All star team. Or he could be demoted by June. It's all up in the air. But that doesn't make Dalbec a lock for anything. And the acquisition of Moreland doesn't help him...
  9. There's usually an agreed upon list at the time of the trade. In some cases, it's conditional based on the traded player. If he gets X AB or Y IP, it's this guy. And so on...
  10. Unless that PTBNL is Jason Heyward...
  11. I liked Lakins a lot more than Kelley...
  12. "Now the labor leaders screamin' when we close the missle plants. United Fruit screams at the Cuban shore Call it peace or call it treason. Call it love or call it reason But I ain't marchin' anymore" - Phil Ochs, I Ain't Marchin' Anymore, 1965
  13. Well, now you're naming some true Big Leaguers...
  14. Make it 20 pounds of Grade A ribeye and keep Tauchman. I don't trust his stats, as I strongly suspect there was some sign stealing involved...
  15. He might have been an AAA All Star, but not much about him made me think he was much of an MLB pitcher, if one at all...
  16. While Wikipedia itself might not be a credible source, each article does contain a list of credible sources at the end...
  17. But only in the past couple years. Only 5 contracts have had a higher value since ARod's original deal 19 years ago, and one of them was his own extension in 2007. Other that that, only Harper, Machado, Cole and Stanton have topped ARod's contract from 2001. And three of those last 4 were signed in the last two off-seasons...
  18. I believe AJ Preller said that, too...
  19. The real problem with all this is the complete lack of names actually being discussed in the deal. The talking heads keep throwing out list after list of some of the top Dodger prospects, but so far, how many have actually been brought up by Friedman? All we know is no Lux and no May. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess. And to further complicate matters, there is the whole Price "Is he included or isn't he" matter. And that does that do for the return package? Obviously since we don't even have the baseline non-Price packge, beyond knowing it will be less, we still know nothing. I can speculate all day long, run baseballtradvalues.com simulator trades and determine "fair" deals. But until we know what the Dodgers are willing to give up, it's nothing more than discussion fodder. All we really know is that whatever Friedman is willing to give up for Betts either with or without Price, Bloom doesn't think it's enough. Maybe Verdugo is the linchpin?
  20. Patriots. They will just let him test the market because then they know what offers they have to beat...
  21. And don't forget about Illinois...
  22. I can't get behind hiring Dewey when I already started by campaign for mvp...
  23. Well, at least there is some good steak involved. I might have accepted this offer until you included Tauchman...
  24. Bellinger is among the primary reasons I don't expect the Dodgers to extend Betts. That doesn't mean they won't be involved in his free agent campaign...
  25. So you think Dalbec is a surefire contributor? Even Chavis slowed down significantly after a hot start...
