  1. We may never know if the virus pandemic affected his decision a bit...
  2. One of the very few bright spots for Boston today was Alex Verdugo...
  3. Per baseballtradevalues.com, Jeter Downs has a surplus trade value of $21.7million. Graterol only has $14.3million.
  4. Obviously Perez was far from spectacular, but I don't get at all why Roenicke used Covey. The guy has been on the team for 2 days after being released by the Tigers. It was a close game, the Sox just got back in it, and after yesterday's blowout, the good bullpen arms were all still available. And in a normal season, I get resting players. but this year is a sprint. I'm sure many have asked about why no Bogaerts, but it really made no sense...
  5. So? Sox need relievers too. I liked the idea of having Graterol and Darrwinzon Hernandez and a lefty-righty duo to protect late leads. Jeter Downs is a good prospect, but middle infield is not the Sox biggest need even in the short term future. Not only do they have prospects, but teams only need 2 middle infielders to pan out. You need a 12-13 pitchers...
  6. Yeah it turns out Cashner's agent did know...
  7. And Workman finishes the season in another uniform...
  8. Dewon Brazelton, Tampa, 2005...
  9. We’ll trade you the Marlins for them...
  10. Well, it also seemed that their only chance of extending him was if they first reset the tax penalties, which they could not do without trading Betts or other expensive and far less desirable contracts. So trading Betts was the smartest plan to reset, since no one was going to take Eovaldi, Sale or Price off their hands. (And they did try. I believe there were some Price/Wil Myers rumblings, which shows how far the Sox were willing to go.) But the Dodgers were the only team willing to take Betts (and most of Price) and give up anything of value. My only problem with this unfortunately necessary trade was it did look better when the Sox got Brusdar Graterol...
  11. I’m calling his agent and pretending to be Bloom...
  12. But the city of Buffalo only likes teams with pun names. They have the Bills. They used to (still do?) have a minor league baseball team called the Bison. And at some point in the near future, you just know they’re going to change the Sabres to the Wings. (Seriously. How has this not already happened!?? It’s even a hockey term!!) Buffalo Blue Jays? It just doesn’t work. Maybe the city will force them to use the moniker “Chips” for one year. Which is ok as long as there is no costumed mascot...
  13. No but it focuses on the wrong aspect of it. What other teams were even interested?
  14. Former Sox relievers Andrew Cashner and Addison Reed are still unemployed, right?
  15. Cody Allen hasn’t been worth a flier since 2017. The Sox would be better off taking their chances dragging Fernando Rodney out of retirement...
  16. Well, the list of teams willing to take on a one year $25mill contract and give up something of value was probably not very long...
  17. That’s just “Passing a Physical, 2020 Edition”...
  18. It felt like they could just never get going...
  19. The problem with acquiring Covey is he only seems to pitch well against the Red Sox. Against everyone else he gets hammered like a sorority girl on Jell-O shot night. But at least we don’t have to face him now...
  20. Really? He'd be my top trade candidate...
  21. I think the nest 2 to 3 (or 2 to 2 1/2 if you like) seasons if Mookie will be among his best, which stands to make them all time great seasons. But he will decline everywhere but in salary...
  22. Now watch Johnson have a Cy Young caliber season. Hey if a pitcher has half a dozen god starts, he might be in the running...
  23. Unrelated but humorous sponsorship. For White Sox games, every game has the announcement “And today’s umpire rotation is brought to you by the Spectrios Center for Low Vision.”
