  1. Bradley may not be elite any more, but he is elite compared to the scrap heap of free agent outfielders left that remain. Unless you like some Yasiel Puig...
  2. Maybe once we get Hippocrates, we can go sign Socrates Brito, Arquimedes Camineiro and Homer Bailey for our All Ancient Greek Team...
  3. Houck? Yes. Ward? No. Ward hasn't pitched since 2019 in High A ball. He's not going from A ball to the Majors after a season off...
  4. We are working on a TTBNL (Team To Be Named Later)...
  5. He did bring Bradley back last year at a pretty good saalry despite trying to pare a lot of money off the payroll. The same thing could happen this year and Bradley appears to be running out of options. If/once Houston bails, I expect Bradley back in Boston...
  6. Maybe we can get more players to be named later.. How many are we owed now? Four?
  7. You did it to point out the Greek Father of Medicine?
  8. The only salary they might be able to move is Vazquez. But then that creates another hole (and it might not actually be enough). And Ronaldo Hernandez, while a good pickup for waiver wire fodder, is NOT making the jump from A ball to MLB this year.
  9. JBJ can always see how much they are paying overseas...
  10. You also have Boone, so subtract a few points...
  11. Yes. Pawecki is already off the roster, but Sale is still on it. They also already added Perez and Hernandez. So add Gonzalez when the place Sale on the IL. However, the still have Marcus Walden, Marcus Wilson and Austin Brice. I would have no issues with signing 3 people to replace these guys. Especially since I still think the Sox need a LHH outfielder, and another arm or two would not hurt...
  12. Well, his chance of coming back went down significantly when the Sox settled on Marwin Gonzalez for some reason....
  13. Bring back Bradley and Porcello?
  14. Hernandez is also on the 40 man roster, which means the Sox still have to DFA someone so they can add Marwin Gonzalez (assuming they add Perez when they put Sale on the 60 day IL). I think TB's logic was that one or both would not last until their waiver claim. They are unlikely to miss Sogard, but I am surprised they added in Hernandez. Especially since they could still find free agent pitchers to sign to MiLB deals to increase their depth...
  15. No kidding. Teams typically have to cover about 1450 innings over the course a season. On most teams, starters get maybe 800-900 innings, leaving 550-650 for the bullpen. If the Rays or any team with a good bullpen reduced the starter workload to, say, 700 innings, they are expecting the bullpen to pick up A LOT of slack...
  16. Prospects with Future Value of 45 are never “expendable.” He may never make the majors, but certainly he could and should have been worth more in a trade than 2 career minor leaguers sitting on the waiver wire...
  17. So.... then Snell was a free agent?
  18. Unavailable due to COVID IL...
  19. Snell was not a free agent. They acquired RHP Luis Patino for him. Patino is a consensus top 20 prospect in all of MLB...
  20. .... which will require surgery and sideline him for 6-8 weeks...
  21. Fangraphs gives him a Future Value of 45, which places him in the top 10 in their Sox rankings, tied with Song, Duran, Houck, Dalbec and Seabold. Only Casas, Downs, Mata and Jimenez have a greater FV in their system....
  22. True. 24 hours ago a best case scenario was they cleared waivers and accepted MiLB deals. I suppose there is always some concern about what we are giving up if Tampa wants them. Sogard might be an interesting one, too. .405 OBP in A ball as a 21yo in 2019 is not so bad at all. Not exactly blue chip material. but shows some promise in that regard...
  23. And he would immediately leap to the top of the Sox catching prospect list by default, especially if Connor Wong cannot stick at catcher (which he struggled to in LA)...
