  1. Or… Kyle to LF, Verdugo to CF, Hernandez to 2b, and Dalbec stays at 1b, where he eventually pairs with Casas…
  2. He’s not in the free agent prediction contest, which is limited to the top 50…
  3. I went wth the cheap and versatile infielder types, much like Bloom did last year. I am also operating on the assumption that Taylor and Iglesias accept their QO's and will therefore be unavailable...
  4. Yeah, he's horrible. I mean, only one MVP award...
  5. MLBTR free agent contest is up. For the Sox, I predicted ERod, Jon Gray, Graveman, Eduardo Escobar and Jon Villar. I do not expect them to sign all five, but I do expect them to fill some of those holes via free agency...
  6. Don't fall into the trap of actually trying to call Yankee ownership cheap. Bad enough when Sox fans do that with Henry/Bloom. Like Hal or not, he is not turning the Yankees into the Pirates...
  7. Despite the differences in defense, the contract Nolan Arenado (8yrs / $260mill) received might be the baseline. Of course, Arenado has been worth significantly more WAR than Devers...
  8. So far the only players connected to the Red Sox this early in the offseason are 1B/DH/LF Kyle Schwarber and 3B/SS/RF Seiya Suzuki. Two guys who play six positions the Sox don't need help at...
  9. Really, Major Obvious? I assume this type of work has merited a promotion. In other news, trade proposals made on internet forums are not legally binding for MLB GMs...
  10. It’s just the date he got in his CBA office pool…
  11. Steamer is the Magic 8 Ball of the MLB projection world…
  12. All the more reason to reject his QO…
  13. Doubtful. He’s going to reject it; teams are already expressing interest in him…
  14. And which of them will pitch for Boston next year?
  15. From MLBTR: "Among those with at least 250 innings over the last three seasons, Heaney’s 27.1 K% ranks 24th in the Majors. His K-BB% ranks 21st. The skills are there for a 4.00 ERA starter. Always a flyball pitcher, Heaney was undone in 2021 by allowing 18% of his flyballs to leave the yard. A team with a big ballpark might wind up with a bargain." https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/top-50-mlb-free-agent-rankings.html
  16. They already combine to be a less productive hitter than Fraley...
  17. No. What happened was Boston trade one half of their worst contract in that deal. Had LA taken the entire Price cntract, we probably don't get Verdugo. If Cincinnti is looking for a better return for Castillo - and they probsbly are - coupling him with Moustakas is the worst case. If they just want to offload a lot of money, then it gets more possible...
  18. He was also very good over the last 4 months of last season. As there was a lot of speculation about how many starting pitchers would struggle after a lot of inactivity in 2020, his extremely slow start might easily be justified...
  19. I dare you to...
  20. Friedman got impatient. Maybe he figured he needed to find a cheap replacement on the Injured List for Kershaw?
  21. His 4.33 FIP over the past 4 years would at least make him an average starter, maybe slightly below. But bear in mind he has probably tried to pitch injured, given how easily he seems to get hurt. He's not a game changer, but he has some skills that unfortunately seem to hurt him physically...
  22. OK. Opinions will be dividied on the subject, as others have already shown. Obviously, that isn't likely to be the deal, assuming there is one at all...
  23. That one feels like the most fair one to me. It does operate on the assumption that Suarez can handle 2B, which he probably can since he did come up as a shortstop with the Tigers and won moved off SS Sto 3B to accommodate a better defender in Zack Cozart.
  24. Would you give up Houck to get Castillo? I'm on the fence...
  25. ... which could be interpreted as a mild recommendation. Unless you are opposed to good value...
