  1. PlaySkool doesn't count. Neither does Doug & Melissa (which is probably more accurate)...
  2. But his analytics will be less thorough…
  3. Grounds out to shortstop?
  4. Well, there was the one guy who said he’d be thrilled if Middlebrooks turned into the next Mark Reynolds…
  5. Do these type of comparisons ever work out? You also tried to compare former Sox prospect and 3b Will Middlebrooks to Mark Reynolds based on age and similar MiLB numbers. And Middlebrooks turned out to be nowhere near as good as Reynolds…
  6. We traded 3 BA Top 100 prospects for a closer on a heavy contract . For point of reference, we only gave up two for Chris Sale, who contract was the biggest bargain in MLB…
  7. Jett Bandy Time!!!
  8. Agreed. And I don’t know much about Lawler vs Mayer vs Watson vs House. I’m randomly picking one for Texas. I think when I first formulated this mini mock, some talking heads had Lawler at #1 overall, so I figured he’d go really high. I like Davis to Detroit, however, since 1) they do need bats in that org and 2) something unpredictable always happens in real drafts. And when I first proposed this, no one had Davis anywhere near the top ten. He has climbed a lot since…
  9. I’m sticking with: Leiter (Pitt) Lawler (Texas) Davis (Detroit) Rocker (Boston) Then maybe Mayer…
  10. So no more faith in Groome’s ceiling? He’s not very likely to reach it unless he somehow stops getting injured. But it’s supposedly pretty high…
  11. See, this is how Cordero hits when facing pitchers who can’t afford sticky stuff…
  12. I used Baseball Reference. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=mieses000joh&type=bgl&year=2021 And I see the issue. It counted his Portland games…
  13. After mild reflection, if I’m the Sox GM, dealing Dalbec and Mata for Mancini is a deal I would make. If I’m the Baltimore GM, Mata’s health issues and recent surgery would give me pause. Now if I’m the Baltimore GM, I would be all for a Downs/Mancini swap…
  14. Mvp is proposing a trade for Trey Mancini, who would replace Dalbec…
  15. What if Bloom countered with Dalbec and Bello? Doesn’t work well on BTV, but Bello is the hot name right now. Or if they countered with Mancini for Downs?
  16. With Kimbrel, we’ve gone past the phase of his career where it’s just about talent. He is on right now, but he hasn’t really been on since the first half off 2018. I get why the Sox let him go and I can’t call it a mistake because he returned to form 3 years later…
  17. Plus they have to pay Marwin more if they DFA him…
  18. The health status should be a big deal for Baltimore. I do think that any team can be one year from competing if they make the right moves. Every year, some team or teams just manage to markedly improve despite what we all think of them in March. After all, Boston is doing just that right now. As is San Francisco and the Cubs. The Orioles probably have a similar mindset all winter…
  19. As much as I like Mata, no team is giving up a young future star for him….
  20. So if you’re the GM of the Orioles, do you pull the trigger, knowing what you know about Mata?
  21. Absolutely. I’m still of the mindset that the Sox desperately need pitching prospects. And while true, it doesn’t mean any or all of the ones they have will ever amount to much…
  22. At first glance, this trade does look very fair. BTV loves it, giving Mancini a surplus value of 20.7 and the Dalbec/Mata package a value of 21.5. It’s a good trade short term. Giving up Mata would be tough here, however. It’s certainly one that would make me hesitate, but not decline outright. And really, that should be the case with every fair trade. Well done…
  23. Can the Sox really afford less pitching depth?
  24. Does this case involve showing no love for Carlos Quintana?
  25. Or until August 1, after we re-acquire Mitchie Two-Bags….
