  1. 6 pitches in and these guys aren’t pounding this nobody. Offense sucks tonight.
  2. Well said. There are several posters who, usually in the game threads, just don't seem to get that the other team has major league players too and think that every player on a bad team stinks. They'd have bitched if 1972 Steve Carlton had shut down the Sox because the Phillies that year sucked, One of the "fans" I recall from last night posted something about Ohtani being very hittable this year. That may be, but it only matters if he was hittable last night, and with the stuff he had yesterday, he really wasn't. He's shut down the Sox twice this year now. Said posters also can't seem to fathom that streaks don't go on forever, positive or negative. The Sox are 6-1 on this road trip. Which of us would not have signed up for that a week ago when they left Boston? Anyone who say they predicted that is a liar.
  3. Two lefties due this inning.
  4. Base hit pre shift. Of course, his first RBI hit of the night was a routine grounder pre shift as well. The shift giveth and the shift taketh away.
  5. Any pitcher at the major league level is capable of shutting down any other team. How often they can do it is what separates the great from the good from the average from the poor.
  6. At least Cordero hit the ball (and the Angels’ OF had to make a pretty good play); there’s always a chance if you put it in play. There’s none on swings and misses.
  7. Sox have averaged about 7 runs a game over the past month or so while winning at least 2/3 of their games. Why mess with what’s working right now? If they revert to April offense, have at it.
  8. Cora appears to have handled the closer issue. Let the starter be his own closer. Last complete game shutout by a Sox pitcher was almost exactly 3 years ago. June 5, 2019, by Chris Sale vs. the Royals.
  9. JD has to put the ball in play there. That was the big out of the inning. That being said, Castillo is a damn good pitcher who was nasty tonight.
  10. His career ERA+ is 123, which if it’s not ace level, it’s pretty close. He’s been on some very mediocre and poor Reds teams. Of course, to many posters here (not you, I repeat, not you), all players on a lousy team are terrible.
  11. Kind of weird for me to see Cody Sedlock make his major league debut for the Orioles today; he was a high school classmate of my younger son (Alleman High School Class of 2013).
  12. Should not be a shock that Strahm didn’t have it tonight. He hasn’t pitched since last Friday; that’s way too long between appearances for any short reliever.
  13. It’s underway, but it will be a battle against the weather. 5-6 innings would not shock me.
  14. Always going to be Comiskey Park to me.
  15. Sox have multiple players out of position now. No Arroyo? Or is he going to hit for JD in the 9th?
  16. The guy can’t even post an image of the right Ted Hendricks. Why are we engaging him.
  17. That’s now. What was the conversion rate in 1990, when his famous miss took place? I wouldn’t be shocked to find overall accuracy at 75% back then, let alone from over 45 yards.
  18. Not exactly ripped, but it went just far enough.
  19. In breaking news, Sox get a man on second with nobody out and fail to score.
  20. That reference says 6 times and predates the Yankees doing it in 2020, so it’s been done 8 times now.
  21. This has to be rhetorical, right? State legislatures/city councils wouldn’t formally pass them but there were numerous Governors and mayors who issued the equivalent of executive orders mandating masks in a variety of scenarios. As I recall (and I welcome a correction if I’m wrong) one of Gov. Newsome or the mayor of Los Angeles at least for a while early on, mandated their use everywhere, even if you were outside alone. But mvp is right, this turn in the thread needs to end.
  22. JH does not make roster moves. Brasier is fine as a 6th-7th inning guy. The problem is the Sox pen is filled with pitchers who are okay as 6th-7th inning guys.
  23. Okay, although I have to admit I’m a little weak on the first part after all these years.
  24. I’m in Hilton Head right now; it was the same for me. Got around it via a VPN on the phone and turning off location. No more blackout.
