  1. Chisholm signaling the change up to the hitter. Only stuck his arm out when the change was coming. He got in Kelly’s head about it. It was so obvious.
  2. Just remember, he is a “superior baseball mind”, as opposed to all us “youngsters” who know nothing. I can’t decide if he is a really good troll or an absolute tool. Either way, I find him amusing. The only thing surprising about his reply was it took so long to show up. The rest of the plot we’ve read before.
  3. With 3 off days, he may not. Assuming they are goimg to try and keep the big 3 on 5 days rest, they won't need a 6th starter until late next week. It would also come up the following week. A lot will depend on what the standings are. Tweaks could be made for the Toronto and Detroit series.
  4. Sets up Giolito, Bello and Crochet for the Yankee series this weekend all on 5 days rest.
  5. Early standing next to Tolle looks like a kicker standing next to a tight end.
  6. TV crew said left knee soreness. That could be anything from a bruise to something far more serious.
  7. 3 Ks would have been. At least when you hit the ball, something good could happen. Wrong guy on 3rd didn’t help. I think Duran, Rafaela and Story score on Eaton’s chopper. Their speed might have beaten the throw but also would force the defense to rush a little.
  8. No, but he had a hitch walking out to the clubhouse. It looked like the kind of thing that will stiffen up overnight.
  9. The youngsters are used to starting once a week in a six man rotation. Asking them to do something they have never done in their pro careers strikes me as a bad idea. There's a reason for this. All minor league schedules now follow the same formula, 6 game series played Tuesday through Sunday either home or away against one opponent (Monday is a travel day). I'm guessing either all or almost all starting pitchers in the minors across all franchises follow that rotation. I get why the minors went that route, it cuts down on travel costs, particularly at the AAA and to a lesser extent, the AA levels. The IL and PCL are very spread out.
  10. So should Story have retired after missing most of last year after getting hurt diving for a ball? I guess Mayer should hang it up; he can’t play a whole season. Anthony hurt himself swinging a bat. Abreu hurt a calf muscle. They’re done obviously. Ref probably will retire; he thought about it last year. But it should be because he doesn’t want to play anymore, not because he got hurt making a baseball play. It’s not like he has a history of injuries. Whose valuable spot is he taking up?
  11. Morales appears to have adjusted by throwing a lot of breaking stuff the past couple innings. Kids got a big future if he’s adjusting mid-game this early in his career.
  12. You see similar plays quite a bit in MLB. By going, the runner brings the cutoff into play, assuring the run will score. The defensive team is willing to take the out to get out of the inning. The offensive team is willing to take the out to get the run. Now, short of falling down, Rafaela was going to score anyway but I get the theory.
  13. It’s an interesting list of Hall of Famers, never weres and everything in between. Kimbrel and Wakefield did it for the Sox. Matz did it with the Cardinals earlier this year. Kimbrel did it twice over his career as did Zack Greinke, AJ Burnett and Tyler Glasgow. Chuck Finley did it 3 times, including twice in one season.
  14. Just goes to show, if you hit the ball with RISP, something positive might happen.
  15. You know that if Arizona had hit Lowe’s ball, it would have hit the base.
  16. I hate to agree with Fred, but when guys are hitting doubles on pitches 8 inches outside, it ain’t your day.
