  1. Screw Bello. You want to mess around and walk guys with 2 outs, you eat the inning. Don’t care if your arm falls off. We can replace a #4 pitcher.
  2. From now on, just wave Alvarez to first. I don’t care if the bases are loaded. He’s killed us since he came up.
  3. Took some close pitches. Just tried to put it in play. Didn’t try to hit it 500 feet. There’s a lesson in that for some (most) of these guys.
  4. Ya beat me to it by a minute. Brown won’t be allowed to go the distance this early unless he starts getting a lot of 3 pitch ABs so it will have to be a combined one.
  5. Wasn’t a foul ball, so it had to cross grass/dirt line fair, especially off a left handed bat. But this is what we’re reduced to, discussing whether a pop up was fair or foul. Oh look, two fly balls to left.
  6. You forgot about that long fly ball by Abreu that Correa caught in fair territory 40 feet behind 3rd.
  7. Right now I’d settle for a couple ropes like Smith just hit.
  8. Same thing McCullers did last night. High, hard strikes to start hitters. If you’re going to stand there and take them …
  9. They said he’s 1-7 with 5 Ks against Brown, so at least there’s some logic to it. Yeah, I know, SSS, but that’s what you get with most individual hitter/pitcher matchups.
  10. Funny how you didn’t say a word until after the move didn’t work. And what cost the Sox the game today was scoring 2 runs; that doesn’t cut it most of the time.
  11. Think NESN, YES, or any Regional Sports Network. Last I looked, the Sox annual local tv money was around $100M per year. The Dodgers was around $330M. Now in the Sox case, it’s more of an accounting thing since Fenway Sports Group is owns roughly 80% of NESN. Edit - didn’t see your reply before I hit submit. That does seem unfair, and something I would expect more of the Yankees.
  12. They do. MLB does have revenue sharing. Home team gets 52% of “local revenue”, which includes ticket sales, concessions and local broadcast contracts. The other 48% goes in a pool and is divided equally among all 30 teams.
  13. Well, that didn't age well. Memo to self: no lottery number or stock picks.
  14. 4 years, $240M No word on how much is deferred, but I’m guessing a hefty amount. Prediction: Bichette back to the Jays.
  15. Disagree. Yes, he may fall off some but even if he falls off to 35 homers a year, it’s still more power than exists on the Sox roster now. Right now, he’s certainly capable of 40+ for the next couple years. He’s even acknowledged that DH is likely to be his future position. Plus the guy has been durable as can be. In 6 seasons excluding the Covid year (where he still played 57 of 60 games), he’s never played less than 152 games in a season, and only twice has played less than 160. The last two years, he’s played all 162. Once again, they lowball someone so they can claim they tried. Let’s face it, Henry is a cheap prick and nothing’s going to happen otherwise until he sells the team. They’ll lowball Anthony when his deal is up and he’ll move on or be moved on. Same with anyone else who figures to make major $.
  16. The issue for Henry isn’t the Sox. It’s that Liverpool loses money and so do the Penguins. $ from the Sox support these other parts of the Fenway Sports Group.
  17. I’m amazed the OP didn’t blame it on Cora. After all, he came up with and played his first 7 years for the Dodgers.
  18. He’s an ass. He had the apartment next to mine 40ish years ago when he was just starting out at the Moline Dispatch. He was an arrogant putz despite that being his first job. I was friends with his boss (the sports editor) who shared my opinion of him. Nothing I’ve seen in the intervening decades has changed my view of him.
  19. To quote Hawk Harrelson, “He gone”. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Saw the following on another site, but I wholeheartedly agree with it: ”I am very disappointed in the way LSU handled it. Men sitting in an office, talking and negotiating terms. This is a campus with a live tiger and a state full of alligators. This is not how I wanted it to end for Brian.”
