    Not sure I’d say nothing but it would have to be an overwhelming offer. For example, if the O’s were dumb enough to offer Mancini, I’d strongly consider it.

    Beni is 25; he had a bad offensive year in 2019 and it was still superior to all but one of JBJ’s full seasons. He has shown that he is willing to change things up when they aren’t going so well (Bradley has said he will not alter his approach no matter what). He also will cost about 1/4 of what Bradley will this year. If Benintendi continues to scuffle for a couple more years like he did this one as his salary rises, then it becomes a different story.

    The Orioles used only 4 pitchers in that series. Dave McNally allowed 2 runs in 2 1/3 in Game 1, then Moe Drabowsky pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings in relief. Jim Palmer, Wally Bunker and McNally followed with complete game shutouts. Drysdale lost games 1 and 4, Koufax and Claude Osteen lost the other 2. Koufax retired at age 30 after that series.

    Hate to see CC end like that; he was a true warrior in his prime who had the mindset of going 9 every time out and reinvented himself later on. He knew how to pitch.

    Never assume anything is over, especially with the Yankees having that deal with the devil. You have to kill them, put a stake through the heart, shoot them with a silver bullet, etc.

    I remember seeing Correa and Bregman playing shortstop in A ball here in the Quad Cities. I think it was back to back seasons but there may have been a 1 year gap.

    No excuse for the Judge one. I’ll give the guy a break on the EE one since Cherinos caught it like he got an electric shock; that has to affect your vision on a breaking ball on the corner.

    Then his salary comes off the books. But he has no reason to retire, even though he will never play again, nor should he. It’s not like he screwed up his knee doing something stupid in the off season. He was hurt on the field. He had a team friendly contract early on; overall he left money on the table when he signed the long term deal to stay in Boston. He’s owed x and he will be paid x. Thinking it will be any other way is stupid.

    He’s had this job before (from 2005-2012). Perhaps that pro scout, which I assume is scouting the minors for potential acquisitions, is something LeVangie is really good at. I have no idea how he performed in that role back then and neither do you. Overall those 8 years were pretty good ones for the Sox. He’s been around the Red Sox organization for over 20 years; he must have done something right. Not being a good pitching coach doesn’t make him inept in other baseball capacities.

    All people are saying is there’s no real hurry. The season ended 4 days ago, and it’s pretty much an unwritten rule that teams don’t make these types of announcements during post season play. If nothing is done after the World Series or the situation drags into January, then start complaining.

    They aren’t going to get rid of him until they have an idea of who may be available as a replacement. Assistant coaches are a dime a dozen. Also, you are dealing with interim GM types here. The big positions will be decided by whoever gets the permanent job. The season’s been over for 3 days. Relax. If nothing’s been done by January, then start complaining.

    Pedroia is hoping to avoid a knee replacement and/or be able to do everyday things; he’s never going to play again.
