  1. One of these guys is going to have to go a couple innings.
  2. Lefties just can’t lay off the knuckle curve down and in.
  3. Bieber’s knuckle curve is nasty.
  4. Yeah, I was royally pissed about that back then. Still am, although if you look at the tape, Fisk was clear of Armbrister by the time he made the throw; he just made a lousy throw.
  5. It was strike 3. Mercado was running and they sent him back because of the interference. Have wonder if Vaz had somehow gotten off a throw whether Mercado would have been called out as well.
  6. Travis stretched too soon on that. Got to see the throw and then stretch.
  7. Pretty good sequence by Bieber there. The first pitch change and the couple curves all started out at the level that last fastball came in at. Set him up really well. Bieber is a pitcher, not a thrower.
  8. No it didn’t. It was a way to try and get him back on the field and contribute faster. It would have taken him a month to build up his arm and ramp up to starters innings (ala spring training for most teams). He still would not have been there. It didn’t seem to work , but I don’t think it was because of any possible elbow issues.
  9. ERod giving up 5 was the main reason. Starters have an ERA over 8 the last couple weeks. That’s where games are being lost.
  10. It’s got to be extremely frustrating for the hitters. Fall behind, scratch and claw to tie it up and then watch the pitchers give it up. Wash, rinse, repeat.
  11. Right. ERod giving up 5 played absolutely no role.
  12. How many at ‘em balls is that tonight?
  13. If an Indian has got that ball, it would have floated just over the fence.
  14. Wrong state. We’re talking about Geneseo, IL
  15. At least the River Bandits are playing actual home games now. Through the first 1/3 of the season, they had been in Modern Woodman for a total of 2 games due to the Mississippi River flood (it was in flood stage from late March until early June).
  16. Yep. Yaz hit .301. Cater actually hit .290. IIRC, there were 4-5 guys in the NL over .300. I think it was the worst offensive season of the live ball era.
  17. Same year Gibson recorded that 1.12 ERA. He also was never taken out of a game during an inning. Still boggles my mind that he lost 9 games with that season. The next year they lowered the mound from 15 inches to 10.
  18. Wow. When my older one was in junior high and high school, I made the trip to the high school a lot. Football and wrestling mostly. Still go over for the wrestling tournament in January.
  19. Where are you located? I’m in Moline.
  20. That AB sums up the season. Last year that foul tip is called and Ramirez strikes out. This year ...
  21. No. Ever since that injury a couple years ago on a play at first, he has been very slow to cover if he covers at all.
  22. He’ll take Weber’s place as the long guy; I would only use him in a game where the Sox fall behind by several runs such that if he’s terrible it really wouldn’t matter. I hear Eovaldi will pitch in an opener role Wednesday.
