  1. If he hits .680-.700 he'll be a net plus- not a plus worth $23M, but still better than Rafaela, DHam & Co. If he hits .720-.740, it would make a difference. .760-.780 is about his ceiling, IMO. That would be nice. Maybe he has one .800 year in him, left. His D is among the best of the best.
  2. Don't be surprised, if we see Pivetta, again.
  3. Maybe, if they pay $8 of the $10M owed. I do not think Vaz gets the best out of his staff. Throw him in on a trade with Ober, Ryan or Lopez, and I'm listening.
  4. Word is SEA refused Casas for Miller or Woo- just like or similar to some trades some of us suggested. I think I'd rather have 5 years of one of them than 2 of Crochet, but it's a close call.
  5. Arenado is being shopped. Astros open to trading Tucker and Framber.
  6. I'm talking about your team's history of multiple trades, every winter.
  7. That and the fact that the CWS apparently want a king's ransom for the a guy who has not been consistently good.
  8. How is it that we know more about your ever-trading GM than you do?
  9. Carson Kelly would have been a good signing, but there are several defensive-first catchers around, that are not costly. I would not take on the Vazquez contract, as notin mentioned.
  10. It could be. Other teams will make strong offers, too. I'm not really sold on Crochet being a top pitcher, but every pitching addition is a risk, and I'm not seeing many options out there. Burnes or Fried Crochet, Lopez Manaea, Flaherty, Castillo or maybe Eovaldi. I'm not sure, if these guys could be traded for and are some good enough? Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober, Mitch Keller, Alcantara, B Garrett or the like? Sonny Gray, (IS Monty too risky?)
  11. Would you call a Bregman, Manaea, Kittredge winter a "good one?"
  12. I've never been a big fan of how Vaz works with the staff. Our other catchers almost always got better results. Maybe he could add a bit of a salary dump aspect to a larger trade that brings back JH Duran, Ober or Ryan. Of course, Pablo could also be an option.
  13. TH LF Duran CF Anthony RF
  14. Bingo, except we need some defensive catcher on a 1 year deal- no biggie.
  15. Alex Cobb to Tigers (Thanks) Carson Kelly nearing deal with Cubs. Sox now mentioned as "interested" in Santander (Bats L-R).
  16. I'm feeling the same. The Yanks are going to need some PR damage control, and unlike JH, they care about their image. The Dodgers are not done. The Jays may bid on Bregman or a top pitcher. Other teams have talked about spending more. We need to see action not words.
  17. Yup, nothing about Castillo trade being plan Z.
  18. Yes, 50% is likely impossible to get an agreement on. Just some sort of cap might be impossible, too.
  19. I still think Castillo gets traded. I'm not sure the Sox work out as a fit, and I'd rather have Lopez or Crochet. (I agree, SEA will not want Yoshida, even if they include Garver or Haniger to cut down on Yoshi's cost.) I think the Sox may end up biting the bullet and trading Mayer for 2 years of Crochet, and hope extend him. That might "free up" enough money for us to win the Bregman or Teoscar sweepstakes, or we settle on Walker or some trade for a big RHB.
  20. I'm not high on Bregman, either. A trade for Arenado, where we add pieces to force Masas being included might work better. I think the chances we sign Burnes or Scott are close to zero. I'm not sure of our chances on Fried or Bregman, but they seem like the best we could possibly get. More likely, we sign one from Manaea, Nate, Flaherty or Pivetta. I doubt we sign offman, but maybe Estevez, Yates or Kittredge might be worth a try. ( K Jansen/C Martin?) There are 2-3 defensive catchers still on the board: one is a must- or a trade for one. Be prepared for this: $70M/3 Manaea or a trade for Crochet $70M/3 Teoscar or Walker $15M/1 Yates Or $16M/1 Kittredge or $30M/3 Estevez $4M/1 Carson Kelly
  21. How many times did we hear Castillo was not on the market to be traded?
