    Yes, I did not agree with all the points this guy was making, and having a highly competitive team that is fun to watch just about every year is also a worthy goal- not just rings every 5-7 years. (BTW, this is year 8.)

    I'm not a big fan of Yoshida, but consider this when saying "Cut him loose!" Only 3 Sox players have a higher OPS AND more PAs than he does. .921 Contreras (suspended) .767 Ceddanne .751 Abreu .688 Yoshida .684 Durbin .622 Duran (3rd in PAs!) .594 Mayer Yoshida ranks 4th in OPS among all 10 Sox players with more than 132 PAs. (IKF is at .705 with 132 PAs and is on the IL.) We simply have nobody better to DH, at least vs RHPs. Last 28 days, Yoshida (.807) is above Abreu (.759) and even Seigler (.790.) but not Romy (.892) Wong (.931) Durnin (.888) and of course Willson at .983. I'm still not a big fan, but for now, he's a keeper.

    What happened to recent sample sizes? You were on a tear with them for a while.

    Sandoval had about a 1.5 season stretch where he looked like a top 30 SP'er. (Maybe top 40.) There is no way to know, if he can return to that level, but we've rolled the dice on everyone from Richards to Kluber to Paxton to Hendriks to some I can't even remember, and we are due for "seven."

    Why not? Every summer, RP'ers like him are dealt. He has a .646 OPS Against, which is better than Sonny Gray's. He won't net anything real special, but why not get a something?

    Kicking in money for Gray, and we can count it as ATL paying it, might not make much of a difference to teams like LAD or SDP, but it might entice a lower budget team to do something they'd never have dreamed of, since they have been out of the playoffs for 9 of the last 10 deadlines- trade for an ace. To me, expanding the number of bidding teams will increase the chances some team grossly overpays for Gray. Hell, someone might even overpay for Sandoval (with cash paid), if he keeps looking like the same guy as 4-5 years ago. Someone might even kick the tires on Bello, if we add some cash for him, too. Same for Chapman and his contract.

    It's what he didn't do. He didn't have to deal with Devers, and he didn't have to deal with a roster without Romy and Seigler.

    So Judge being hurt counts but 5 of our top 10 pitchers and Anthony out is immaterial.

    The second opinion confirmed the ligament tear ate the base of his right ring finger. Found this about the reasoning for the Fort Myers move... “We’re constantly trying to balance what is best for Roman with what is best for the 26 guys who are trying to get ready for a game,” Breslow said of the decision. “And unfortunately, the number of players on the IL has grown, but the size of the training room at Fenway Park has not. And we just kind of decided that, No. 1, it made sense for Roman to see another hand specialist in Atlanta and then from there, continue with the rehab from Fort Myers, where we’ve got all of the resources and everything that we need.”

    Woo won 8-7 as Sogard went 2-3 w BB in his rehab. Kniszer had 3 rbi and McDonough followed up his player of the day game by going 2-3. POR and Ziehl got shelled. Arias, Brannon and Baez all homered. Jo Garcia and Brannon had 2 hits. GRE won 5-4, as Bickerstaff pitched well in 4.1 innings in relief. Gonzales, Anderson & Tucker homered. SAL lost 1-5. Guzman had 2 hits- one a homer (.938.) FCL lost 14-11 despite 12 hits and 10 walks. Sox pitchers walked 15!

    The big fat hole in the middle of our line-up, and one could argue in the lead-off slot, as well has been hotly debated. Rightfully so, in my mind.     Saw some talk show where the guy was singling out the SDP, PHI and NYM for spending so much and never winning a ring, while other teams like the Rays cycle some really good years as much as they do.

    How about a third team taking Duran, and giving something to PIT. PIT may be sellers and take Mayer.

    Me? I was the first to give up on them not long ago, and Ole Red went off worse than ever. I've wanted to sell another year or two since 2018. (I'm still in sell mode, now.)

    This is rather impressive, considering no Crochet, Early, Houck, Crawford, and Sandoval/Suarez plus Anthony, Story and underwhelming seasons from a few others.

    Last deadline the Twins traded away almost their whole pen. Their returns were pretty good. Maybe we trade Chapman, Whitlock, Slaten, Coulombe and Guerrero along with Gray.

    I guess if you sell for prospects, and 2027 is toast, it would still be helpful for when the actiuon does begin and trade windows open up. If you buy, normally rentals, then 2027 is not a big deal, but the future would be hurt.
