  1. One clue is that the name Rafaela has not been uttered once.
  2. It didn't have to be Abreu for Paredes. There were surely other options.
  3. After getting drilled in his first start, Ziehl pitched a nice game: 5 IP 4H 0ER 2BB 6K. Arias is 2 for 4 w 2BB and 4 runs scored, so far. Godbout, White and Guzman have homered for GRE, so far.
  4. Rookie Kevin McGonigle & Tigers agree to $150M/8 extension.
  5. Don't look now, but the MLB OPS is .701. Anthony is up to .724. Rafaela is still above the norm at .766. Masa continues to do well (.852). Wong is over .900 in a smaller sample size, while IKF and Story jumped over the .500 OPS line. Early keeps getting the job done (2.29 ERA.)
  6. How bad do you need to be doing, this early in the season, to homer, double and walk, but just get your OPS up to .565? (Answer: .471 after 17 games by Story.)
  7. I'm all for playing the hot hand, and playing Masa more further exposes the big winter failure of keeping 4 OF'ers when we had other needs. What makes it worse is that we had the same issue last winter.
  8. Got it. Crawford has 2 options, but if he gets healthy, it doesn't really matter.
  9. The batters at Woo have looked pretty impressive, especially those who look the most like ML ready or AAAA type players: 1.157 Cheng 1.125 Delay 1.048 Capra 1.040 Gasper .857 Thaiss .855 Sogard (Ward is at .790 w 9 SBs.) POR has Arias at 1.339 (tops in the system) GRE's leader is Cespedes at .779 and then Justin G at .760 SAL has a few off to nice starts: Salazar 1.090, Tucker 1.050, Opata 1.048, King .989 & Fermin at .861
  10. Many of us were goole-eyed about GRE and especially their rotation, but Salem has been the note-worthy team and rotation, so far. Futrell- just promoted to GRE had gone 9 IP with 0 ER, just 1 hit and 2BBs allowed. He also had 10 Ks. Dylan Brown has 14 Ks in 8.2 IP and also has yet to allow a run scored (3H and 3BB) Finley has a 2.08 ERA and .585 OPSA. GRE has Valera (2.16 with a .476 OPSA) ans Eyanson (1.23 & .360) as well as RP'er Gartrell at 0.00 and .392 in 6.1 IP. POT has Holobetz at 1.00 (9IP) and .483. Woo has Bennett at 0.68 in 13.1 IP with an amazing .289 OPSA.
  11. There we go! Do we know who he replaces? (McShane to IL?)
  12. "I think he'll benefit from today and tomorrow [off] and be ready for Friday," Cora said.
  13. I do wonder how Duran was respecting that fan he called a "fag- got."
  14. Duran flips off a Twins fan who told him to kill himself. Duran responded to the media with this: "I've taken a lot wearing this Boston Red Sox jersey, but being told to kill myself crosses every line. If Fans think that's acceptable, maybe they don't deserve my respect- or my effort- on the field anymore." Yikes!!!
  15. His contract ends after 2026, so there is no next year for PS. If he has the option, then yes, we should use it, if needed to keep him rehabbibg.
  16. The Sox are 22nd in runs, but just 4-5 runs from the mean. 16th in OBP at .316 23rd in OPSat .662 (#15 is .698) 26th in SLG at .346 29th in ISO at .113 (We knew we had a power shortage) Last place is .112 11th in K% 24% (actually 19th place) Our pitching is at a 0.0 fWAR (27th)
  17. Agreed. He deserves a long look, but is there a limit on his rehab timeline? soxprospects.com says he has one option left, so maybe there is no need to promote him, until he ready.
  18. ...and Sandoval sucked in his second rehab start. It seems this rinse & repeat continues, year-after-year.
  19. I know the comp between Crochet and Tolle is apples to oranges. I agreed with that. "Missing it" is obviously what you think anyone who disagrees with you is doing. Yes, the topic is dead, as is your reasoning on this.
  20. Pretty much sums it up. One could add: our hyped up top 3 SP'ers are at 7.58, 5.02 and 4.43.
  21. What a crappy start to the season. We've gone past the 1/10th mark, which is still early, but this is just plain awful baseball to watch. I still think we have some real talent on the roster and on the farm, but it's just not showing up. I'm far from giving up, but we gotta see some kinda spark... and SOON!
  22. We knew the failure to trade an OF'er, this winter was going to lead to some of our best players being forced to the bench, when they are not in need of a rest, and ride the bench. I'm not a Masa hater. One of the reasons I wanted an OF'er traded was because I thought Yoshida as the DH was not a big step down from some of our OF'er's bats. (He's a better bat than Rafaela. As of now, he might be better than Roman & Duran.) We "settled on Durbin," who I don't dislike, either. I liked the trade, but wish he held IKF/Monasterio's role or was a Mayer platoon than someone handed Bregman's job. I know I've beaten the dead horse over and over, but I'm happy we got Contreras, but wish we had gotten someone like KMarte, Hoerner or Neto. Okay, if that was unreasonable or unattainable, they maybe BLowe or Donovan. (True, I also mentioned Polanco or Suarez, and they look as bad as Durbin on O.)
